This is a self portrait. My art teacher chose an artist that it reminded her of and the background was done with an influence from that artist. Max Beckman was my influence.

Influence of Natural Objects in Calling Forth and Strengthening the Imagination in Boyhood and Early Youth By William Wordsworth
As we all are, my mum was a great collection of many attributes and characteristics some learned, others project and many creating influences out of conscious control. Mum loved to be out, to be experiencing and to be involved. She loved taking on big tasks and achieving monumental gains. She was very happy to feel in control of the situation and to be active on all fronts and to be in charge of events.
Just last year in this month mum was pruning her way through life. She has been removed from her gardening duties and is currently assigned to a Care Home. She would rather be maintaining and visiting places, but we do not have the chance to fashion life around us exactly as we wish. There are so many conflicting factors to so much of life and love all about us. I grieve a little for the pruning that could have been done and much more for my mum who is not able to express herself so as to access her choices. Others direct and control her as if she is plant being grown for the work and pleasure of others. Mum is now a statistic on a performance scale, she is a unit to be itemised in a scheme that she does not enjoy. Her generation do not speak up to nurses and she is being formed into a patient needing care rather than a person requiring love. Such are the current ways of society, they will get better and worse as we focus on and away from life and loving in a way that we can all enjoy together. Whatever you do I would heartily recommend that you take sometime out to value what you know is worthwhile and enjoy the love of life available to you. There is not always tomorrow, there is now and the moments of today that we can share. Mum left lots for tomorrow, for next season, for another year and she confused her physical health with her mental situation. My calls for care were not answered until we had lived through a nightmare trauma which is still haunting us to this day and taking away proper care and love from a living set of problems that will face more of us as we continue to naturally age in this modern world of institutions. I wish you well with your ecological gardening and with your living, your caring, sharing and loving.
