Taken seconds after the Sun had dropped behind a headland, I loved the golden glow of this shot of the Paloma Club Sultan infinity pool. The fortunate addition of a woman having her portraits taken by the Hotels photographer proved to be the icing on the cake a far as I was concerned.

Zanzibar, Tanzania - March 16, 2023: Logo with an R for the Royal Zanzibar Resort, in front of the infinity swimming pool and the Indian Ocean
There was I, with my borrowed compact S90 (thank you Nick!) coddled in its safe-to-40-metres waterproof case (thank you again) even though the camera didn't touch the water, and this girl is taking self-portraits with her iPad 2 in the pool!!!
From Wikipedia : "Tatooine is a desert planet in a binary star system. It once had large oceans full of marine based life and a world-spanning jungle, but this biosphere was destroyed when the myopic Rakata razed the planet, drying up its riverbeds and boiling away its oceans.[citation needed]
Tatooine's G-type and K-type twin stars (Tatoo I and Tatoo II) heat its surface, making water and shade hard to come by. The planet's indigenous lifeforms—such as the Womp rat, bantha, Sarlacc, and Krayt Dragon—are well-adapted to its arid climate, but human settlers often become moisture farmers and live in subterranean dwellings in order to survive. The planet's lack of resources, brutal heat, and decentralized population have made governing the planet nearly impossible.
The planet fell into the clutches of the Hutts, a clan of gangsters and crime lords. Since Tatooine was beyond the reach of the Galactic Republic, the Hutts presided over the lawless planet with little outside interference. When the Galactic Empire subsumed the Old Republic, the new regime established only a token presence on Tatooine, which left Jabba the Hutt’s reign unchallenged. Jabba remained the assumed ruler of Tatooine until his death in the Battle of Carkoon." ;-)

My favourite shot from my series of shots of the Paloma Club Sultan waterslides, the combination of colours and wall of water hopefully gives the impression of what it's like to hit the water at speed.

I met Valina and her husband while watching a Flames Game in a bar in Ixtapa, Mexico. The bar is owned in part by a Calgarian who's friends with my friend and Valina and her husband were staying at the same Condo as me and my wife.
I had seen them at the infinity pool and found out during the evening that they are also in the dog business (they breed Labs, we own a dog daycare).
A couple days later a bunch of us were floating in the pool near sunset and I asked if she'd like to do some photos. I had never done swimming pool photos and she had never modeled.
I grabbed my Fuji X-A1 and the 35mm f/1.4 lens and these are the results. All the images have been edited. Some just a little and some more so.
If anyone else wants to meet me at an infinity pool and do some modeling you just let me know:)
Discovery Primea is a 68-storey residential tower and one of the tallest buildings in the Philippines located in Makati along Ayala Avenue. It stands on the former Gilarmi Apartments, one of the earliest urban residential condominiums built in the Makati Central Business District. JTKC, Inc. is the developer of the residential condominium and one of earliest developer of residential condominium units in the Philippines. The latter also owns the Discovery Suites, a service-apartment in the Ortigas Center business district in Mandaluyong. The residential tower was opened in 2015.
The foreground is the infinity pool at the Saman Villas resort in Bentota Sri Lanka and the back ground is the sky over the Indian ocean. Taken from prone position (flat on my stomach at the edge of the swimming pool), I ended up with very wet t-shirt and shorts but managed to cut off the Indian Ocean which was right in front of us and get the horizon aligned with the edge of the pool. . . . The sea was much rougher than the water in the pool :-))

Back to Paloma Club Sultan infinity pool sunsets I'm afraid, this time my 11mm lens has given the entirely incorrect impression that the Earth is in fact curved......
