Moonrise; 3 esposures, at 2 stop increments, layered Photmatix Pro 5, editing in Lightroom CC.
My neighbors are allowed to keep me sleep deprived. On most nights I’m lucky to get 4 hours sleep. This day I had less than 4. I was woke around 5 am on my day off, by the neighbors across the hall, stomping on the floor in front of my room. They do this intentionally to wake me. This is done day after day, night after night. Harassment and Mobbing are allowed in Yosemite national Park. Until we have common sense and accountability; Yosemite National Park will continue to be one of the countries most Toxic work and living environments. These people have been left out of check for decades, have no boundaries and are out of control.

I thank all of you for your views, positive comments and visiting my photostream.
With this image: I took nine images at 1 stop increments (Bracketing), in RAW format, using a tripod and wireless shutter release button. The snow was deep so it took a few sets of nine, to get an image where all nine were properly aligned, so there’s no ghosting. I use Photomatix Pro 6 to align, and layer; which perfectly merges these into one image. I save in tiff format and do my final editing in Lighroom CC. I’ve been using Photmatix Pro for years. I found it to be the Best software for anyone that likes to bracket or generate a realistic HDR image
I’ve explained how I produced this image; now let me tell you what it took to get it. This is one you may want to set back for.
I had gone out earlier; cleaned the snow and dug my car out. I came back in, put on some dry clothes and fixed myself something to eat and to take with me. I miss the snow in this dept, even with the cold tempts, I had to get out.
So, I’m packing food, a hot thermos and my camera equipment. I had the day off here and with most days off; my neighbors wait in anticipation for a chance to harass me in the common areas, or as I leave and return to my building. My neighbors are stomping back and forth in front of my room, a woman stomps up the hall and lets out a couple of loud coughs at my door. All this activity outside my room is intended to harass and cause anguish in hoped that I act out or possibly forget something. The woman coughing at my door has been doing it for years. She did this at the last building I lived in, did it today, just as I got home from work. If I say anything in my defense; I’m verbally assaulted and belittled in public for all to see. This woman will also uses her cat or children to harass me, as I set in my room or in my building. She’s able to do this day and night, to harass me. Oh, but she smokes two packs a day, that’s her Golden Excuse, so it’s not harassment. It really says a lot about her, but here in Yosemite National Park; it’s the norm to use pets and children to harass a target… I’m serious!
I have my camera bag, food, winter gear and boots. I set my bags in the hall, step out and lock my door; a women walks back and forth pass me, just to crowd me in a narrow hallway. This is another woman that verbally assaulted me, as I sat in my room one day with the door open. Two women rush out the building to light up cigarettes in front of the building, filling the air with smoke for me to walk through. One of the women; the one coughing at my door as I packed.
As I walk towards my building exit; the same woman that was crowding a moment ago, comes around the corner to block me. I’m walk out of the building, through a cloud of cigarette smoke; the fake cougher lets out a loud cough as I walk pass them. Again, this is baiting; in hopes I will act out and they will use it against me.
I get to my car and there’s another employee in an old truck. He repeatedly backs up to the rear of my car, filling the air with old oil burning exhaust; for me to inhale.. Again, another act of harassment, that can be easily excused
OK, so now I’m in my car, I’m thinking; wow, now I have a moment to myself and the park. But no, I don’t. As I drive down the road; I have a couple of my neighbors walking down the middle of the road I’m on. As I approach them; they turn around in unison, start moving their arms and hands up and down. They were signaling me to slow down. Peeps, I was born and raised in heavy snow country, I have snow chains on and am driving 15 mph, these people are signaling for me to slow down. Again, another act by my neighbors to push my buttons. I made it pass them without flipping them off, or saying a word. Yea Rick….
Now, here I am driving down the road, thinking I may just make it out of Stupidville; but no! I’m driving pass the lower falls, a bobcat had the bike and walking path cleared, yet there are 4 people walking down the middle of the two lane road, taking up both lanes. As I approach them I honked my horn, they continue walking in the middle of the road. I honk again, they slowly move, I continue on about 10 mph. As I pass them, one of the guys starts yelling “Slow down asshole”. I smiled and waved; he and another one start yelling, “slow down you F*&#ing Asshole”. I keep driving; wanting to get somewhere normal, calm, beautiful. I get to the Lodge turnoff and there is a bus stuck in the snow, with chains on. I drive pass it, but have to turn up the road a bit, because a front-loader was moving snow. I looped around and ended up behind the bus that was stuck. I could have go through but a van was intentionally blocking the path. They were out of the van chatting, wiping snow from the sides of it, pretending it to be busy. As they did, the four that were in the middle of the road earlier, showed up. Wow, what a coincidence, right…. I asked the guys in the van to move, as I did; the others started ripping into me. Calling me a F*&#ing Asshole, telling me they wish a tree would fall on me and kill me, wishing I would die. Seriously, I’m used to this kind of stuff. The woman cougher in my building went on a hissy-fit one day and pretty much said they same. Back to Yosemite’s finest. I look at one of the guys calmly and say “Dud, get over yourself, you guys are exactly whats wrong with America”. Oh man, that pissed them off. I had video recording on my dash both times. Yep folks, this is where we are at in Yosemite; dash cams for our own protection. NOT for our Majestic park, but for our own protection…. They continued their rants as they walked pass. A woman with them gives me a smirk and says have a wonderful day.
Finally, I’m on the road again, find a little peace and tranquility in the beauty that surrounds me. So, I’m hoping you really, I mean really, enjoy my photos.
Seriously, this is a typical day for me here in Yosemite National Park and it gets worse. Like; when I continually address the tons of recyclables going into landfills every year, instead of recycle centers. Or, when I mention the extreme energy wast at our facilities. Maybe its the many times I tell management; I’m being harassed at work or in housing. Or, it could be when I inform the Superintendent’s Office that this is happening. I’m pretty sure this is called retaliation. Under the Whistle Blower Act; should be protected. Oh, I forgot; we are in an unaccountable society, nation. All you need is an excuse and all will be forgiven, forgotten….
I tell you this, not for sympathy; leave that for your children. I’ve severed this country proudly, I’ve accomplished a lot in my life, I research and continue to educate myself, I collect evidence. Everything I’m telling you here is true. Each time I do; I look so forward to my coworkers, managers and neighbors, using innuendos like crazy and insane at every opportunity, being blocked and crowded at every doorway or tight corridor.
Workplace Mobbing, Community Stalking and Gang Stalking are real. These types of mobbing, it's organizers and those that participate; are the largest contributors of the hate and divide in this country. Please educate yourself and help me make this a better country for all and I do mean all…

In 2020 I kept track of all the wildflowers I found blooming in southern Indiana. For most of the year I photographed in two-week increments, Month 1-15 and then Month 16-30 or 31. In March I only had one montage for the whole month, and again in September and October. But in each of those cycles I made sure to visit several local trails and parks at least once (ideally every week), and also sometimes visited some of the nearby state parks. I included alternate color forms when I found them. Several months I ended up with more than 100 species.
Photographing flowers can be tricky. Sometimes it's hard to find a fresh, pretty blossom, or they're buried among thorns, or the wind keeps moving them around, or you think you have the flower in focus and later you see you didn't and you need to find the flower and try again, and you're often kneeling or working at an awkward angle. . . . By the end of 2020 I was heartily sick of wildflowers, and when I realized a few were still blooming into November, I pretended not to see them.
This year we haven't yet had a hard frost. The snow we have received hasn't been enough to kill the flowers. Now we have had several days below freezing, and I'm sure they're mostly gone now--but it was, for November, quite a colorful month. Here are wildflowers of November 2024. Some have insects, some have snow or waterdrops, and some have seedheads. Some were quite surprising finds for November; a few aren't unusual for this late in the season. To the best of my knowledge each of these is a different species, though with the white asters I just included two shots and let them represent different species if they happen not to be different ones.
Links to individual photos follow.

With this image I did my 9-image thing, with 1 stop increments. Take a good look at the vegetation; you don’t see any blurring or ghosting. It was windy this day, snow falling, dropping from trees. I used the Deghosting tool in Photomatix Pro 6, you can see for yourself how well it works. I’m not endorsed by Photmatix, but if you bracket photos for a realistic image like this; you should try it. I did little editing in Lightroom Classic CC.
You know what’s coming next; yep I talk about why I chose this title. I keep telling the truth about what really happens here Yosemite National Park. So, take another seat guys this is going to be a long one. I will be repeating it in another post, not to be redundant; the American public needs to know the truth and how lives are truly being destroyed. This truth is derived from 10 years of collective evidence; daily journals, videos, photos and audio. You see; the US Army taught me how to collect and record evidence. I did live recons; collecting information and evidence. They trained me intensely to retrieve sensitive information. I was told I was one of the best, had dinner with division commanders, received a butt load of medals for collecting legitimate sensitive information. I’m not trying to brag about my accomplishments, but I do want you to understand what I’m telling you is true. Yet, those in Yosemite’s Superintendent’s Office and my managers don’t want to see, or hear about the truth. These cowards know who they are…. I’m not trying to be mean or vindictive; I’m telling you the truth. I have known many brave men, women and even children; these people are far from it. The ones that don’t participate in mobbing; hide behind their positions. Again; just the truth….
In two weeks, I will have worked here in Yosemite for ten years. In that ten years I’ve had my tires flattened, by breaking the valve stems, my bike tires flattened, its brakes and spokes tampered with, had milk throw all over my Jeep, on a hot summer day, red soda on another day, dog poop packed in it’s door handle, my room illegally entered way to many times to count, my laundry tampered with weekly, my bathroom covered in feces. Daily; my neighbors coughing loudly as they pass my door; day, night, early morning. Even though this is done intentionally to harass me, wake me, its labeled coughing and someone coughing is not harassment; it’s a normal body function. My neighbors stomp at my door, in front of my room day and night, dropping pots and pans at my door, knocking on my door and walls; waking me, keeping me awake, sleep deprived. Using children and pets to harass me; like two pack, the chronic cougher, child and pet user. Being blocked, crowded and baited every time I step out of my room. Blocking four-foot hallways with furniture, carts, plant pots, shoes, anything to annoy their target (Me), as we have trees falling on our building, from heavy snow. My neighbors rushing out to fill the air with cigarette smoke as I leave or come home from work, blocking me in parking lot, using vehicle exhaust to harass. These same employees doing this year after year, day after day. This is just in housing units and I’m not even close to covering housing.
At work, every day; I Have coworkers and managers blocking me at every doorway, corridor and hallway. Carts and equipment left in the same areas for the same reason. I get elbowed, intentionally bumped into (baited). The equipment I use is hidden or tampered with, recycling and compost are a lie, the electrical and natural resource waste is off the charts (who pays for this, oh we do, the tax payer); its February, was 16 degrees when I left for work this morning and our air conditioning has been running nonstop all winter. No shit folks, my coworkers and mangers are using space heaters to keep warm. AGAIN; Senior Management Offices are upstairs in this building. Sorry about the bad word, sense I’m telling the truth here; really, I’m not, I’m pissed. I don’t know where this is coming from, please forgive me. OK, back to Toxic Yosemite. There are a lot of petty things my coworkers do daily to push my buttons. Most are meant for me to snitch; that way I’m not just Rick the Dick, but now I’m a snitch and everybody hates a snitch. You see folks; setting up a Target is not that difficult, especially with the mobbing and hate epidemic that plagues our nation. I want you to get the full picture here, so I’m jump around a bit. I have employees rushing to nonsmoking areas to light up their cigarettes, because I’m walking up front or outside. I’m not talking just maybe one or two, but many, daily, even this morning. One, was a coworker; he waits until I come out front, goes to a table under two no smoking signs, lights up and smokes his cigarette. I went out and told him he needs to leave, he ignores me and finishes his cigarette, then comes inside and laughs. There were mangers there, they’ll stand back, watch and do nothing; as guest and children are exposed to employee smoke. Again, this is done, so I’m the prick and if I say anything to management, I’m a snitch. I could go on and on, and a lot of it may seem petty; but these things are done daily to harass, annoy, agitate and get their Target (Me Again Yay!) to act out of character, to be terminated. And don’t get me started on the over-the-top Street Theater and Gaslighting. Its not that I’m a snitch, its that I care. I care about this park, this country, our future.
Peeps, this happens in the workplace daily across America; government and private. This could be for something as simple as addressing a shortcoming or safety issue. This mobbing mentality has also spread into our neighborhoods and many organizations. There are tons of credible literature on this. It can be called Workplace Mobbing, Community Stalking and Gang Stalking. These groups are a real thing and do nothing but spread hate. Workplace Mobbing was recorded decades ago in our Postal Service. That’s were the term “Going Postal” came from. Employees were being mobbed, harassed so baldly by their coworkers and supervisors; they went “Postal” and killed their coworkers. This was done because they were not meeting requirements; so management would coheres their coworkers to mob and harass them. These employees had nowhere to turn to; their lives and livelihoods were being destroyed taken from them, by unethical people, no one would believe them. Sadly there is still no help in the US. Now before someone takes this out of context; I do not condone violence, but will continue to use the truth to enlighten you. There are many answers I don’t have, but for the ones I do; the Truth Will Continue to Rise.
And If you think management and the Super are not informed; I make sure they are and with my photostream approaching two million views, I’m sure most here know when I change my sox.

Thank you greatly for the opportunity to tell the truth…..

Over Labor Day weekend I posted about working in Yosemite National Park (Disillusioned), now I’d like to let you know what it’s like to live in Yosemite housing. Before I start I’d like to give a little history on myself.
I started working as a paperboy at around 7 years old. My brothers, mom and I would get up before school wrap the newspapers, mom would drive us around in the station wagon. My older brother and I would walk from block to block and mom kept us resupplied. She had my younger brother with her in the car, driving from block to block. Not long after that we moved into the country. I bailed hay, plowed and sprayed fields for farmers. At 12, I started bussing tables and doing dishes, 3rd shift on weekends. At 13. I was pumping gas, fixing tires, then repairing automobiles. I did a little factory work last year of high school and graduated early. After graduation I moved to Texas and did road service. From there I joined the Army to see the world. I entered into a Cohort unit, assigned to US Joint Service Special Operations Command (big title). I did live reconnaissance and loved it. Here I was; young, doing some balls to the walls shit and on top of the world. Then, I met this woman that took my breath away, I know cliché. We got married, had a little girl, then came back to the states. I switched over to animal medicine in order to spend more time with my family. I had to trace across the country to go from one school to another, then advanced schooling. We finally ended in Colorado, and then another school. Once I had that finished I enrolled in night college classes. Then again; not much time for the family. My wife wasn’t happy, she wanted to go home to her native country, we discussed what was best for our daughter and she stayed in the states with me. She was 3 at the time. My ex and I are still friends, keep in touch and our daughter visits her often.
Where was I, oh, sadness, my wife left. Anyway, my daughter was devastated, her and her mother were close. In the many challenges in life; watching my daughter suffer through this, was the one of the most difficult. So, dad hunkered down, story time every night, McD’s on Fridays and Pizza Pizza on Saturdays. I was doing ok, but my daughter wasn’t. I still had a lot of obligations; I was running the US Air Force Academy Veterinary Clinic and a volunteer program for Vet Thechs, at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs. It soon came time to reenlist, my daughter was 5 at the time and she needed me more, so I left the Army. It was a great run, got a butt load of medals, was awarded Non-commissioned Officer of the Year and I was privileged to serve with some of the best men and women from around the world.
So, here we are; my daughter and I, heading back to the Midwest, two dachshunds, a betta fish and a big rental truck, driving across America once again. We had a blast, until Ernie (one of the dachshunds) ate the betta fish along the way. I made good money selling my house in Colorado, took that money and started a business, did very well, got very sick, sold my business and bounced back. Became a manager for a company, got promoted to district manager along the way. The recession hit us hard in 2008, with cut backs I got laid-off, my daughter all grown, I headed back out west. I took my time looking for work, made it to Washington state and headed down the coast.
I found this job in Yosemite online, applied and was hired on the spot. Now, I’ll start letting you know what it’s like to live in Yosemite’s housing. I first moved into a housing unit very close to where I worked. It was a nice building and had to share a room with a person. It was no biggie, did it I the Army. One of the housing managers let me in the room, the guy that lived there was not there at the time and the room looked as if it had not been cleaned in years. The housing manger didn’t say a word, gave me the keys and left. I had to clean everything on my side of the room before unpacking. While doing so, my new roommate came in, didn’t say a word, went to his computer and played games all night, way into the night.
As the days went by my roommate was becoming a real dick. He would stay up late playing games, I had to get up at 4:30 am for work. Also, would make as much noise as possible to wake me, at all hours of the night and morning. I caught him holding a large key chain full of keys, raise it above his head and drop it on his nightstand until I woke up. This guy was vulgar, extremely poor hygiene and down-right nasty. I complained to housing and was ridiculed by housing management. There was an older gentleman that I worked with; told me to be careful and don’t piss off curtain people or they will get you fired. He told me my roommate and others make it difficult for their roommates, so they don’t have to share a room. The person will get tired of the harassment and request another roommate.
I’m the type of person that stands up for myself and it didn’t take long for my roommate to rally a few friends to make my life difficult. That was almost 10 years ago and over the years many in the Yosemite community have perfected Workplace Mobbing and Community Stalking. You can call it what you want; but it’s conspired mobbing and harassment, here in Yosemite National Park there are no boundaries.
I eventually moved into another housing area. The day I moved in, I was being blocked in the hallway as I would bring my belongings in. Several people in my building would step out of their rooms, directly in front of me as I brought things in. Then, there was one woman that would rush into the building and crowd me in the hall on every trip. The effort and assertion these people would put into their skits was remarkable and sometimes quite hilarious. Watching grown men and women act like adolescent children was mind-blowing. I lived there for many years, being harassed daily. These people will wait around for hours for me to step out of my room, go to the bathroom, do laundry or use the kitchen; so, they will have an opportunity to harass me. If I didn’t leave my room (say I was sick), they would harass me in my room. My neighbors would stomp pass my room, pound on walls, floors anything to generate continuous noise. These people love to hate, enjoy harassing people and will go to almost any length to do so, and no one is holding them accountable. I lived in that building for over 7 years.
Now let’s move to the current building I’m in. I moved into this building in December of this year, because the other housing area is being closed and cleared. When I moved into this building I received the same treatment, just more intensified. As I brought my belongings in, there were several people in the hallway, then stepping from rooms and around the corners. I’m not exaggerating folks, it was like dodging tennis balls shot from a soda pop canon (got a little board, so just threw that in). Here I am, a big man, 200 lbs, bringing in my frig, shelves, all kinds of things. I’m thinking to myself, what happen to common courtesy?
I get moved in, am kinda excited because it’s one of the nicer buildings, nice size private room, with an attached bathroom. I had to share the bathroom with the guy in the next room; we had private and locked entrances, so thought it wasn’t too bad. My excitement was short lived, as I knew it would be (remember I’ve been here a while). About two weeks in; I came home from a long day at the Fresno VA, did my grocery shopping (so much cheaper out of the park) and no one was in the hallway. I thought it odd, because it’s usually crowded when I have groceries. I get half way down the hall and I’m overwhelmed from the smell of feces. I open the door to my room and the smell was worse. I sat my groceries down, looked around trying to find out where the smell was coming from. I opened the bathroom door, the floors, four walls, the fixtures, threshold to the tub area, the tub, my rug under the sink, were all covered with splattered feces. My rug was covered in liquid feces, my neighbor was in his room with the TV on. I have a strong stomach, but this was BAD. I knew better than blow my top (that’s exactly what these sickos want), so I called to try and contact the night housing manager. The young woman at the switchboard was great; she made several attempts to get him to show up, explained in detail what had happened. He was too busy to even show up at all, maybe had too much shit to do. She did manage to get a young member of our Elite Security Force to show up, just kidding about the Elite part. This young man took pictures, said he would fill out a report, then asked me if I had cleaning supplies. He is standing in this filth, my neighbor in his room TV on, and this guy is expecting me to clean this. Am I the only one that’s thinking this is way beyond OVER THE TOP? My neighbor, an elf or maybe a bear came into the bathroom, covered it in shit and he’s expecting me to clean it. My neighbor is setting in his room, so you know it wasn’t him. It was him, I’m trying to add a little humor to the Bat-Shit-Stupid, I live in every day. Well, I tell the Elite Security guy; that I wasn’t going to clean that mess. He looks kind of puzzled, then says “we can have housing clean it tomorrow”. It just keeps getting stupider, doesn’t it, but no kidding, it’s the truth. I said “my neighbor is in his room have him clean it up, I need to clean up myself and get ready for work in the morning”. He went over, talked to him, told me he would clean it, said he would file a report and left. My neighbor was in there maybe 15 minutes, then all lights out. It was still filthy; my rug covered in feces was turned around under the sink, the walls, floors and fixtures still covered in areas. I ended cleaning the rest myself after many complaints to housing. After this he would continue to leave feces on fixtures and floors, to which I cleaned. After many more complaints to housing and senior Elite management; my neighbor remained for four more months. He would make a mess, then disappear for weeks, leaving me to clean it. I wish I had a job I could just disappear from for weeks, repeatedly. Still scratching my head on that one, not really, I know better. It wasn’t until a week before my daughter came out to visit, that he moved. Again, am I the only one thinking; WHAT A COENCIDENCE! Don’t worry, we have more, so much more, but first I have to pee. You know, all the talk about my bathroom. I’m back. People using feces and urine to harass someone here in Yosemite is not new; look through my photostream, you can see it impacted feces in my Jeep door handle. I have thousands of other pictures, but will spare the public from this madness for now.
Now, I’d like to cover other daily niceties of living in this building, with my current and rotating neighbors. Each and every day I get the stomping down the hall, with an emphasis at my door and you can throw in a loud cough at my door too. Then, there’s my neighbors setting in their rooms for hours, for a chance to step out and block me in the hall. One neighbor two doors down; 6 times in one day. I know, I know, it was just a coincidence. But, this person did the same thing in the previous building we lived in. That person also rallies my neighbors right outside my room; 5-6 of them, talking and laughing loudly, to the point I can’t watch TV with headphones on. Because I asked them if they could move into the kitchen or TV room; I was called a Dick, or maybe she slurred my name (Rick). That was it, no one in Yosemite would call me a Dick for asking them to be courteous, I mean no one…. Well, that caused hissy-fits, retaliation and vilified their misguided notions of me. Yes, Rick is a Dick, we know this now, we have the justification to make his life a living hell. So, they got to it. I get mobbed every time I go to use the kitchen or the laundry room. I’ve picked random times and it’s the same, the same people over and over. They will get right in my face, block me at every turn, turn burners and ovens off, pour filthy water or something onto your washed dishes or in your dishwater. Again, same acts following from building to building and some of the same people too. When I go to do laundry; the person two rooms down and the guy that cleans the building, will wait in the small bathroom in the hallway, so they can fling the door open at me, as I walk pass to put clothes in dryers or collect. Recently, I had someone put a freshly broken chocolate bar under the agitator, in the washer I was about to use. It could have been a coincidence, you think?
This person living two doors down started setting against my wall, in the hallway. She would talk with the people directly across the hall from me, they played loud music with their door open. This gave the person setting against my wall justification to start hitting my wall with a foot or elbow (in their minds). Again, I asked if they could keep it down and not to pound on the floor or my wall. I was met with a “this is a public area and I can be here if I want”. Here we go again, Rick’s a Dick, hissy-fits, retaliation, stomping, coughing, blocking and someone waiting for me when I come home from a hard day at work; to blow smoke in my face, from a nonsmoking area. Cough, cough. With many complaints to housing and senior management the same harassers and harassment continues day after day, year after year. You thought I was about to finish, no not yet.
A few weeks ago, I come home and find a note on my door to call management. I called and was told; there’s a senior employee that is interested in moving into the room next to you, sharing the bathroom. I was told again it was a senior employee with inflection on senior. Well, great as long as it wasn’t an Elite employee. Then I was told this was a female and she didn’t have problems sharing the bathroom with me. I thought to myself; no woman would have a problem sharing a bathroom with me. Then reality set in, Toxic Yosemite, sharing a bathroom with a woman, what can go wrong. Really, I said “I have a problem with it, as Toxic as this place is and you want me to share a bathroom with a woman, yes I have a big problem with it”. I was told, “well she doesn’t have a problem with it”, that was the end of our conversation.
I’ve led a very full and rewarding life. My proudest, most fulfilling and rewarding accomplishment was raising my daughter. Tears fill my eyes as think of how proud I am of her. She’s had her struggles through life and has become a beautiful, compassionate, considerate, woman. I was both mom and dad,
so, what I’m about to say is not meant to be mean in anyway.
Last week a woman moved into the room next to me. I don’t know this woman and am not faulting her and will refrain from making judgement. I was setting on the toilet, my nice clean toilet, and there was a knock on the bathroom door. I heard a woman’s voice, I asked if she was moving in, she said yes, so I finished and unlocked the door, hoping it didn’t smell like man poop. She had someone help her move things in, stayed a few days then gone for 3. She came back the other night had a couple visitors, that I do know. I don’t have a problem with visitors, but I went to take a shower and the feminine odor was unbearable. Again, not trying to be mean, but it was bad. I had to take my shower because I leave for work early, so I took my shower, then settled into my room. Before I went to bed I needed to use the bathroom, but had to wait for two women to use it before I could. That was a couple nights ago, there’s still an odor in the bathroom and slightly in my room. I haven’t seen here sense, sound familiar? I’m being honest by saying; I’m very uncomfortable with this. This building has about 40 residents and I think only three of us men. What I do know is; having a woman sharing a bathroom with me, is a vindictive act of retaliation from management.
Now as far as my neighbors harassing me day after day; they have no concerns of punishment. They prove this every day. Tuesday, my day off; I was woke at 5:50 am, by someone stomping down the hall and right at my door. I couldn’t go back to sleep, someone was clanging dishes in the kitchen, so I decided to do laundry. I gathered my clothes and headed to the laundry room. The kitchen door was open, another neighbor from across the hall was the one doing dishes, so I closed the kitchen door as I waked by. I put my clothes in the washers and headed back to my room. The kitchen door was open again, so I went to close it. The woman started yelling molester, molester, in Spanish. It didn’t faze me, who knows what kind of crap these people are told. I said people are sleeping, pulled the door stop out and went to my room. As I do my laundry, one of the housing staff keeps walking pass referencing the name of the guy who cleans our building, 4 times. That’s what they do; try to get under your skin. I get my laundry done, set in my room with the door open so my neighbors don’t stomp by and edit photos.
As I edit this image; one of the women from across the hall, stomps up to my room, starts stomping in place, right in front of my door, then starts doing this over the top fake cough. She does this in place stomping, throwing her head back and forth like a two-year-old having a fit. This woman is probably in her mid-forties, but this is acceptable behavior here in Yosemite. Nothing will happen to this woman, or the many that harass me in Yosemite. They will not lose their housing privileges, or jobs, some may even be rewarded. They will continue to harass whomever they are told to, or feel like, year after year.
I’m only midway through the day and decide to gather my camera bag, pack a late lunch and head out. I step out the door, there are 3 housing staff members, 2 neighbors from across the hall and 2 new girls that recently moved in. They were all surrounding my room and I could barely make it through the crowd. One of the new girls rushed ahead of me, one of the housing staff breathing down the back of my neck as I walk down the hall. The girl ahead of me stepped into her room, spun around, stepped right back out and into me. This was an intentional skit, in hopes I would act out in anger and be surrounded by witnesses. These are witnesses that will lie.
What I’ve told you is true; it is based on years of collecting evidence, military training (I didn’t receive 12 medals for smelling flowers), life’s experiences and the illegal and unethical actions of the people here in Yosemite National Park. I’ve tried to add a little humor to the Very Toxic living and working conditions in Yosemite. Over the years I’ve seen many good people come, then go, because of this Toxic place. Because of the stigma, retaliation and overwhelming harassment in the workplace; many are terrified to say a word. Look at what we are doing to each other America; this mobbing and hate needs to stop and it will destroy us all. It will not stop until people are held accountable. Will Yosemite’s Superintendent hold these people accountable?
You can hate me, try to discredit me, but you cannot deny the truth.
What is happening in Yosemite is WRONG!
Yosemite’s current Superintendent is: Michael T Reynolds

Update 4-30-19; after 2 recent detailed letters to Yosemite's Superintendent, the harassment, mobbing, waist, fraud, cover-up and retaliation continues.....
On 6-2-19, the San Fransisco Chronicle published a scathing article about Yosemite; giving insight to how toxic and unethical this place really is.
12-1-19 Update: the harassment and retaliation continues and has increased. The noise campaigns at work and in housing are off the charts. I left work this morning (12-1-19) because of extreme loud music. The lobby music systems was turned way up and on top of that; an employee that also harasses me in housing, along with her husband, had her boom box blaring on top of the Holiday music blaring. You would think it was Military PSYOPS (Psychological Operations). Speaking of; on 11-29-19, I greeted 3 guest and asked how they were doing. The woman looked totally surprised, then a big smile popped on her face. She said Sir, may I ask you a question, I said sure. She asked who ran the operations here? I told her. She then asked; what’s the matter with the employees here? I told her the truth and said nobody here cares. She went on to tell me; yesterday they witnessed employees being rude to guest at one of our other facilities, one even belittling a German couple because of their limited English. She then said; the people here ignored us this morning, one employee just stood there with earphones in his ears, listening to music. She had other complaints that I can’t mention because I will be terminated.
I asked where they were from and found out that all 3 were active duty Marines. They couldn’t get over the behavior of our employees. I apologized again and thanked them for their service. We went on to briefly discuss the continued decline of common courtesy and ethics in America. Is this why we serve today; so Americans and Corporate America can have the right to treat human-beings, worse than their own pets?
6-4-20, Update; Yosemite's leaders continue to allow the hate, mobbing and whistleblower retaliation to flourish.
Thank you for visiting my photostream
The Nikon FA is the most sophisticated member of the FM/FE series of medium compact Nikon semi-pro 35mm cameras. It was released slightly after the FE2 came to the market. It is similar to the FE/FM series in that it is built on the same chassis and is of approximately the same size and weight. However, while the FE2 was an incremental improvement over the FE with a traditional Nikon design, the FA was a test bed for two major new technologies: (1) multi-segment exposure metering (called Automatic Multi-Pattern ("AMP") in the FA, but Matrix Metering on later bodies); and (2) multiple exposure modes including Manual, Aperture Priority, Shutter Speed Priority, and Program (High and Low), known as "PASM"). The FA was developed to take advantage of the new AiS series of manual focus Nikkor lenses that supported linear aperture control and more communication with the camera body. The FA is the only Nikon camera body ever made that can support both multi-segment exposure metering and all four PASM exposure modes with manual focus Ai or better Nikkor lenses. While the Nikon F4 and F6, as well as some Nikon digital SLRs, can support multi-pattern metering with Ai or better lenses, they don't support full PASM but only Manual and Aperture Priority modes. As such, the FA offers more functionality with Ai or better lenses than any camera ever made by Nikon. The FA was in production from 1983 to 1987, after which Nikon replaced both the FE2 and FA with the N8008 (F801) and the advent of auto focus and built-in automatic film winders. Thus, the FA is important even today as both a historical landmark for Nikon, and also as an excellent choice for users of manual focus lenses when shooting film.
The FA was available in silver chrome and black. Although the chassis of the FA is metal like the rest of the FM/FE series, the top and bottom covers are made out of composite material. I have the silver version. On superficial inspection, the top and bottom covers almost appear to be metal and look very nice. However, if you look very closely and tap the covers, you can tell that they are not metal. Although it is somewhat disconcerting to hold a non-metallic body for the first time after having used all-metal bodies for so long in prior generations, as a practical matter, you can hardly tell the difference. Anyway, today virtually all cameras are covered in some type of composite material, so from a modern standpoint, the FA's cover material seems completely normal. My FA has been to the shop a few times for regular maintenance, but it has thankfully never experienced any breakdowns. I have heard that early samples of the FA had problems with electrical interference affecting exposure accuracy. However, Nikon quickly fixed this problem on subsequent production and also repaired defective early models under warranty. Naturally, the sophisticated functionality of the FA requires more electronic circuitry than its predecessors in the FM/FE series. Since new replacement electronic components are no longer available, should a critical part break down, your repair tech may need to cannibalize another FA sample, or else the FA might become a paperweight.
Just like the cameras of the related FE/FM series, the FA uses either a 3V lithium battery, two 1.55V silver oxide batteries, or two 1.5V alkalines. Quite standard for Nikon bodies of the that era. I usually prefer to just go with a single 3V lithium to enjoy the long shelf life, but of course the other two types work fine too. Even though the small batteries control both the light meter and electronic shutter (but obviously not film advance or any autofocus), they still seem to last forever. On the FA, like the FE2, the only way to check the batteries is to pull out the wind lever to turn on the camera and look through the viewfinder to see if the LCD display is activated.
The FA is built with a copper-aluminum-silicon (copper-silumin) alloy body, the same as the the other members of the FM/FA series, even though the top and bottom covers are composite material. I find the size and weight of the FA to be excellent, especially with wide-angle through medium telephoto Nikkor manual focus prime lenses. The body size is not too big or too small. Its size is large enough to hold securely, but still smaller than full size professional bodies like the F2AS or F3HP. It is not as small as the (mechanical) Contax S2, Pentax MX, or even the Olympus OM-3, which are considered small compact bodies and sometimes feel a bit too small to get a good grip. The FA is available with a small removable grip that screws onto the front right of the body. The grip is just the right size to catch your third and fourth fingers and makes it easy to grab the camera securely. The FA weighs in at only 625g, without lens, slightly more than the FE2's 550g, but still less than the F3HP's 715g and certainly less than later all-automatic film and digital SLRs. When holding the camera, it is easy to imagine that Nikon chose to use composite material for the top and bottom covers to keep the weight down to as close to the FE2 as possible. Of course the weight of the batteries is insignificant, compared with the multiple AA batteries or other larger batteries in future electronic bodies. You can still hang the FA with a small lens around your neck or shoulder for extended periods, but the increase in weight over the FE2 is noticeable. The FA fits great into a dedicated case, or a spongy snug-fit case, or a small camera bag with a few lenses. Like the other members of the related FM/FE series, the FA is an excellent size for travel use.
The FA, with its slightly increased heft, does not feel as insubstantial as the FM/FE when held without a lens attached. However, even when a lens is attached in the wide-angle to medium telephoto size range, especially those AiS Nikkor manual focus primes, the lens/camera combination still has excellent balance, with a very reasonable size and weight. Even with the composite top and bottom covers, the FA has a highly luxurious and precision feel and sound when held in your hands and used, although the sound is definitely not as pleasing as that of the FM2n or even the FE/FE2. In addition to the sound of the electronic shutter and mirror movement, there is also a mechanical sound that I guess may be attributable to the mechanism required to communicate between the camera and lenses for the PASM exposure modes. I most often use AiS primes from 20/2.8 to 200/4 and the system is wonderful to operate with all of those lenses. However, once you start getting into bigger and heavier lenses such as, for example, the 80-200/2.8, the camera feels a bit too light and out of balance. Also, on fatter lenses, you may need to use a rubber tripod filler ring to keep the lens rings from touching the tripod head.
Operation of the FA is really smooth. The shutter speed ring is large and has an easy to turn knurled grip, although it is not quite as tall as that on the FM2n. However, the shutter speed dial, shutter release button and exposure mode switch sit on top of a slightly raised platform that makes it a bit easier to reach those controls. The shutter speed dial on the FA, like the FE2, offers noticeably more resistance than the dial on the FE due to the more robust click stops on the FA. But still, it is easy to grab the shutter speed dial with your thumb and forefinger when the film advance lever is pulled out to turn on the camera. There is no "Auto" position on the FA's shutter speed dial. Since the FA supports all four PASM exposure modes, there is a separate switch attached to the spindle of the shutter speed dial to pick your mode. For safety purposes, a release button is still needed to turn the shutter speed dial onto M250 and B. However, on the FA, the release button is on the back of the camera just below the dial instead of in the middle of the dial itself like the FE/FE2. Actually, this position is not as convenient as the release button on the FE/FE2 because you need to use two hands to adjust the FA, whereas you can use the release button with only one hand on the FE/FE2. Like all Nikons, the film advance lever motion is amazingly smooth, although the lever is single-stroke only, unlike the levers on the F, F2 and F3. But the stroke is not very big, so a quick easy stroke quickly winds to the next frame. ASA/ISO setting is set by a ring that surrounds the rewind lever. You lift and turn the ring to set the ISO. The exposure compensation setting is located on the same ring as the ASA/ISO setting, and has a range from -2 to +2 EV in one-third stop increments, just like the FE2. Shutter speed and ISO markings are clear and easy to read. The ISO range of the FA (and also the FE/FE2) is 12 - 4000, wide enough to handle virtually all situations, though slightly narrower than the FM2n, which reaches up to 6400. The small multiple-exposure lever is still located under the film advance lever, out of the way but easy to turn when you need it. The shutter release button is located at just the right location near the front of the body. It takes a standard mechanical cable release. The shutter release button on the FA (and FE2/FM2n) is a more modern, wider design compared with the relatively narrower release on the FE. The shutter release button on the older FE seems to have a slightly shorter travel than the FE2 and FM2n, and therefore feels slightly more instantaneous. The shutter release on the FA is kind of the opposite, and you need to push it part way down to activate the exposure meter, then further down to release the shutter. (The throw of the shutter release is even further when using the mechanical shutter speed M250). I ultimately purchased a soft shutter release button to screw into the cable release socket on the shutter release button and improve the perceived responsiveness of the shutter release action. The film counter is just in front of release crank and is easy to read.
One of the biggest advantages of the Nikon film SLR lens mount (the "F mount") is that it is the only SLR camera mount that has stayed virtually the same from the time of the first Nikon F and Nikkormat FS/FT through to the most current small and full frame Nikon digital SLRs. Except for the requirement that relatively newer Nikon film SLRs require Ai or Ai-converted lenses, all manual focus Nikon F mount lenses can be used on autofocus bodies, and most full-frame auto-focus Nikon F mount lenses can be used on all old manual focus bodies. I don't know of any other manufacturer that can make such a claim. Thus, it is convenient to use the FA together with a modern Nikon autofocus film or digital SLR because you can often use the same lenses on both bodies (except for the newest G-type lenses). By the way, you can find lots of used manual focus Nikkor lenses. But if you want to buy your manual focus lenses new, Nikon still manufactures some of their most popular Ai-S manual focus lenses, or you can select the new Carl Zeiss manual focus prime lenses in Nikon F mount.
The FE and FM were the last bodies in that line to directly accept unmodified pre-Ai lenses because they included a retractable meter coupling lever. Of course, with pre-Ai lenses, you still need to use stop-down exposure metering. There are many excellent pre-Ai lenses on the market, and to use any such lenses that have not been converted to Ai, the FE and FM cameras would be a better choice than the FA, FE2 or FM2n. Alternatively, you can probably still get an independent camera technician to convert any pre-Ai lens to Ai using scavenged parts, although Nikon itself presumably long ago stopped providing such service.
Loading Nikkor lenses onto the FA, or any FM/FE series body, is quick and positive. Just line up the black dot on the lens with the dot on the camera body and twist the lens counter-clockwise. Of course, their is no need to line up the claw on Ai Nikkor aperture rings with an exposure meter pin on the body; this old system became obsolete after the Nikkormat FT2/EL-W generation. To remove a lens, just press the lens release button on the left front of the body and twist clockwise.
Of course the most unique benefit of the Nikon FA lens mount is the camera's ability to do multi-segment metering (and center-weighted metering) as well as all four PASM exposure modes with manual focus Ai lenses and better. The FA performs even better with AiS and better lenses. AiS lenses, which were released in 1981, have even better performance with the FA. According to the FA user manual, AiS lenses, when used in Program mode, provide either normal or high-speed program depending on the focal length of the lens in use. Furthermore, in Program and Shutter Priority mode, AiS lenses give uniform exposure control in any lighting situation due to their linear aperture control. One very important step to remember is that you must set the aperture on your lens to the smallest available aperture when you are in Shutter Speed Priority or Program exposure mode. If you don't do this, the camera won't have access to the full aperture range of the lens. However, even if you forget to stop down the lens, the exposure meter will attempt to compensate by adjusting the shutter speed if a proper exposure can be achieved within the available range of apertures and shutter speeds.
To load or unload film, twist the back opening lever counter-clockwise and put the rewind crank upwards to open the camera back. Film loading is traditional style and almost foolproof. Like many Nikon and other cameras of this generation, you need to stick the film leader into a slot on the take-up spool and insure that the sprocket in the spool engages a film perforation. In my experience, this system is slower but more reliable than that on newer Nikon bodies where you simply lay the film leader flat next to an index line. Similar to the FE2, the FA prevents you from accidentally loading the film with the exposure mode set to one of the automatic modes and ending up with very long shutter activations if you try to wind to the first frame with the lens cap on. I can't count how many times I ran into this problem on my old FE. The FA defaults to M250 until the first official frame is reached. The slight downside is that you are unable to squeeze a few extra exposures off the beginning of the role (unless you use 1/250 sec. and Sunny 16 or an external exposure meter!).
The focusing screens of the FM/FE Series were improved and brightened with the release of the FM2/FE2/FA. The original screens on the FE are about 1 stop dimmer than the later second generation. (Note: first and generation screens are interchangeable with exposure compensation). A slight disadvantage of the FM/FE series viewfinders is that, unlike the 100% frame coverage of a pro-level Nikon F series camera, the FA's frame coverage is only 93%. This is not unusual in a prosumer level camera, but you need to be aware that objects that are outside the field of view in the viewfinder will be captured on your film. The viewfinder contains all of the information that you need for convenient camera setting. In fact, the FA was only the second Nikon after the F3 to use an LCD readout in the viewfinder. Thus, the FA has a completely different viewfinder display compared with earlier Nikons (except the F3). The display configuration changes slightly depending on what exposure mode you are using. In Manual mode, you see the aperture setting in the ADR window, just like on other cameras in the FM/FE series. However, the selected shutter speed appears in the LCD. Also appearing in the LCD are the selected shutter speed and various combinations of the - and + symbols depending on the exposure setting. The exposure is set properly when both -+ are visible at the same time, just like on the F3. Also in Manual mode, an "M" appears just below the -+ indicators. In aperture priority mode, you see the aperture setting in the same ADR, and the automatically selected shutter speed in the LCD. The LCD displays HI or LO if the light conditions are outside the available range. In Shutter priority mode, the ADR is covered up and you see the selected shutter speed as a mechanical numerical display in the top right of the viewfinder. The LCD indicates "F" followed by the selected aperture in whole stop increments (even though the exact aperture is selected steplessly). Finally, in Program mode, the LCD displays the automatically selected shutter speed; there is no indication of the selected aperture. Note that the FA has lost the red LED that used to light up on the right side of the FE2's viewfinder when exposure compensation is set to other than "0". You will need to remind yourself to turn off exposure compensation when it is no longer needed.
The FA, like the FE, FE2, FM2 and FM2n exposure meters, uses a pair of silicon photodiodes (SPDs) for exposure measurement. This is the latest generation of exposure meter technology, after Cadmium Sulfide (CdS) technology in the Nikkormat FT (1965) through the FT3 (1977) and gallium-arsenide-phosphide photodiodes in the FM (1977). Silicon photodiodes provide quick response and stability, and apparently lower manufacturing cost for Nikon, compared with the prior generation. Exposure measurement range of the FA is different from the other FM/FE series cameras. In AMP metering, the EV range is 1-16, while in center-weighted metering, the EV range is a wider 1-20 at ASA/ISO 100 and with a 50mm f/1.4 lens (compared to EV 1-18 on other FM/FE series cameras). The FA is still not not as sensitive as the EV -2 to EV +17 range on the F2 Photomic AS, or the EV 0 to EV 21 range of the later Nikon F4. By the way, unlike the FE and FE2, the FA incorporates an eyepiece shutter, which can be used to keep extraneous light from affecting the SPDs when remotely using the FA in the automatic exposure modes.
The center of the viewfinder display, with the standard K-Type focusing screen, contains a small central horizontal split image, surrounded by a microprism donut, which is further surrounded by a large matte donut and a 12mm diameter circle. But utilizing both the split-image and microprism collar, you can manually focus on almost any subject very quickly. Turn the camera at a slight angle when focusing if necessary to find a straight line. I can't resist pointing out that with well-maintained manual focus Nikkor primes, such as AiS lenses, focusing ring operation is buttery smooth, with just the right amount of viscous resistance. With the no-slip knurled focusing rings on the AiS lenses, focusing is quick and accurate. The FA provides three different interchangeable focusing screen types for various applications. There screens are the same ones that are designed for the FE2. I never needed to use any except the standard K2-Type screen. The B2 type screen removes the split image and microprism focusing aids, while the E2 type is the same as the B2, except with horizontal and vertical etched lines. As indicated previously, FM/FE series focusing screens were improved (from the "K" series to the "K2" series) to provide a brighter viewfinder image starting with the FM2/FE2/FA generation.
As mentioned already, the FA is the first SLR in the world to offer a multi-segment exposure metering system. The pattern includes a segment in each of the four quadrants, as well as a central segment, for a total of five segments. The FA uses specially developed software to analyze the scene and pick the best exposure setting for the situation. The AMP system works better than mindless use of the traditional center-weighted exposure system, but is still not perfect. After all, the FA incorporated the very first version of multi-segment exposure metering software. In addition, the FA does not incorporate a mercury switch to determine whether the camera is held horizontally or vertically. Thus, for example, the FA could fail to compensate properly for a bright sky in a vertically framed photograph. An additional shortcoming of the FA's design is that it does not include an exposure lock lever. Nikon would argue that exposure lock is not needed since the newly developed AMP system is so accurate. One must be impressed with Nikon's faith in their new multi-pattern system, but it was certainly premature to remove exposure compensation in this early version of a multi-pattern system. Still, we should not be so hard on Nikon as we look back on the deficiencies of their very first "Matrix" exposure system in 1983. Although Nikon's multi-segment exposure meters and their software have steadily improved with successive generations of film and digital SLRs, the system did not reach its pinnacle until the introduction of the F5, F6 and later digital SLRs with their color matrix meters.
The FA can be switched from AMP exposure metering to traditional center-weighted metering by operating the Metering Control Button on the bottom right of the lens mount. Push the button in and turn clockwise to set center-weighted metering. Turn the button counterclockwise and allow it to pop out to select AMP metering. The Metering Control Button is not as convenient to operate as modern exposure metering selector switches, especially if you have wide fingers. But it works fine. As with center-weighted metering in other FM/FE series cameras, the outer circle in the viewfinder encloses the central area which carries a 60% exposure meter weight, with the area outside the circle comprising the remaining 40%. The most important thing to know about a center-weighted exposure measurement system is how it weights various areas of the viewfinder image so that you can determine how to use it in each situation. The 60/40 system works fine for most situations. It is vast improvement over the classic full-frame averaging system, which was used on a Pentax Spotmatic models, the earliest Nikkormat FT, and other cameras. For these averaging systems, if you wanted a proper exposure, you could not include a bright light or big sky in any area of the frame. Still, with the 60/40 system, you need to determine where to point the camera when manually setting the exposure. Find an areas that is representative of the subject, but which is not overly influenced by a bright light, a bright sky, a dark background, etc. Also make sure to select an area that approximates 18% gray, such as a dense area of green trees in a landscape image. If you cannot find an area that is equivalent to 18% gray that fills the 12mm circle, for example, inside the Haleakala volcano crater on Maui, HI, or a bright snowscape, then you need to compensate the exposure by appropriately changing the aperture or shutter speed in Manual mode, or by changing the exposure compensation dial in Auto mode. Note again that multi-segment metering was conceived to automatically adjust for these difficult exposure situations, although you can not rely on it 100% in this first generation AMP system.
Note that the contemporaneous Nikon F3HP had a different exposure metering pattern. The F3HP, with its 80/20 heavy center-weight, makes it easier to find an area that is 18% gray, without surrounding high-contrast areas influencing the exposure reading too much. The F3HP's strong center-weight was probably the better way to go to obtain accurate exposures in the days before multi-segment metering became sufficiently advanced. However, the F3HP's 80/20 weight could be difficult for amateurs to use properly if they just point and shoot. Modern Nikon bodies generally use a default 75/25 weight in their center-weight metering modes.
Note, by the way, that the FA did not offer spot exposure metering, but only AMP and center-weighted. The successor body to the FA, the N8008 (F801), which came out in 1988, had essentially the same exposure metering system as the FA. Finally, in 1991, the N8008s (F801s), which was an update to the N8008, added a spot metering mode, in addition to multi-segment and center-weighted metering.
The FA incorporates a vertical-travel, metal focal plane shutter with honeycomb titanium or, later, aluminum curtains. Shutter speed range on the FA is not as wide as that of the FE2. The FA can only operate from 1 sec. to 1/4000 sec., while the FE2 operates over an expanded 8 sec. through 1/4000 sec. Of course, like the FE and FE2, the FA's electronic shutter can select any intermediate shutter speed in Aperture Priority or Program exposure mode. In Manual and Shutter Priority mode, you can only select the standard shutter speeds that are indicated on the shutter speed dial. The FA has one mechanical shutter speed, 1/250 sec., which is a separate selection on the shutter speed dial. Given the FA's great reliability and long battery life, I have never had a need to use the 1/250 sec. mechanical shutter speed.
There are just a few more features that I want to mention. On the right front side of the body are located a depth-of-field preview lever and a self timer lever. Like many other cameras, you can check actual depth of field at the set aperture by pressing the depth-of-field lever. The image darkens if the lens is not set for maximum aperture, but you can get a good idea of the expected DOF with your lens/aperture combination. Actually, this lever is not really required with manual focus Nikkor lenses, because such lenses include an easy to read DOF index on the lens barrel. Many AF Nikkor lenses also have DOF index marks. The FA bodies have a mechanical self-timer with a delay of up to approximately 10 seconds. While these cameras do not have a mirror lock-up switch per se, you can simulate MLU by using the self-timer lever. When the shutter release button is pressed after the self-timer is set, the mirror swings up at the start of the timer count.
Finally, a hot-shoe contact is installed on top of the prism housing for flash photography. The FA supports automatic TTL flash control with a four-contact hot shoe and has the same flash capabilities as the FE2. The FA's maximum flash synch speed is 1/250 sec. This maximum synch speed is still current today. On the FA, like the FE and FE2, one of the flash contacts communicates the flash charging status to the camera and lights a red diode "ready light" in the viewfinder when the flash is ready to shoot. Of course, the FA works with any Nikon flash unit. I use my SB-24 and SB-26 and they work great.
In addition to the vast selection of Nikkor and third-party lenses that are available for the Nikon F mount, the FA also accepts various other useful Nikon accessories. One of the most useful is the MD-15 motor drive (and also the MD-12 and earlier MD-11). The MD-15 has the advantage that its battery can also power the camera itself, while the MD-12 and MD-11 cannot. These motor drive units allow rapid fire or remote shooting up to 3.2 frames per second. In my youth, I used to keep the MD-12 attached to my FE and carried it around much of the time. However, the MD-12 (like the MD-15) is quite heavy, especially when loaded with the eight required AA batteries. These days, it would obviously be better to use a more modern camera is you want portable and higher-speed motor drive. Other useful optional accessories (which work with all FM, FE and FA bodies) are the MF-16 data back, the DB-2 Anti-Cold Battery Pack, the DR-3 and DG-2 viewfinder eyepieces, and various eyepiece correction lenses.

The sculpture called 'Legacy' outside the Piermaster's House in the Albert Dock, overlooking the River Mersey.
The sculpture was created in 2001, by Mark DeGraffenried at a studio 4,000 miles away in Utah, and donated by the Mormon Church.
"This statue of a young family commemorates migration from Liverpool to the new world.
It was given to the people of Liverpool by the Mormon Church as a tribute to the many families from all over Europe who embarked on a brave and pioneering voyage from Liverpool to start a new life in America.
It is estimated that in total approximately nine million people emigrated through the port.
The sculpture by Mark DeGraffenried is cast in bronze. The child stepping forward at the front symbolises migration to the unknown world whilst the child playing with a crab at the back indicates a deep association with the sea.
A plaque on the plinth below the sculpture is inscribed as follows;
"'THE CROSSING'
BY MARK DEGRAFFENRIED
IN COMMEMORATION OF AN ESTIMATED 85,000
LATTER-DAY SAINTS WHO SAILED FROM EUROPE TO
AMERICA FROM 1851-1900.
WE THANK THIS CITY FOR CRADLING OUR ANCESTORS.
The Pioneer Heritage Foundation were originally known as the Sea Trek Foundation, which was formed by a Salt Lake venture capitalist William Sadleir to charter three tall ships to take part in a re-creation of the Atlantic Ocean crossings by 19th century converts who emigrated to America. Unfortunately the venture ran up huge debts which it was unable to pay and was eventually saved by an affiliate of the Church of the Latter-Day Saints who then sued the Sea Trek Foundation for the money.
Fund raising to pay off the debt continues and "will come in $500 increments", Sadleir said, from people who want to have their family name and the name of an ancestor included on a bronze plaque to be displayed at one of several statuary monuments financed by Sea Trek. Some of those statues have been placed in port cities that Sea Trek stopped in, while others are completed but have yet to be placed in their destined locations."

Taken with Fujifilm XE-1, Fuji XF 18-55, 2.8 @ f4, ISO 640. Five exposures at one stop increments, RAW format. Editing: Lightroom 5.6; workflow and final, Photomatix Pro 5; fusing the 5 images, NIK Collection; dynamic range, highlights and shadows, Gimp 2.8; logo. The color is right from the camera. I was really impressed with the depth at f4. With the XE-1 the exposure comp dial is right on top and easy to flip through, but you need a stable tripod to get the crisp detail. I used a Horusbennu tripod I bought from ebay ($109 with shipping). It is carbon fiber and the model I bought weighs less than 2 lbs, is rock solid and great for backpacking. I also use a Hrousbennu ball head, the combo weighs in at about 2 ½ lbs. I spotted the little red leafed dogwood tree walking to work. It was surrounded by redwood, incense and ponderosa pines and ferns. It was taken early morning, just after the sun was breaking over the mountains. You can see a light mist rising in the far background; from the morning dew.

Now that I drew you in with the processing info, I’d like to share another life’s lesson.
Historically journalist, artists and musicians lead the way in Social Reform. Sadly the only change most Americans are willing to make; is that of their TV station, or the position of their cellphone when taking a selfie. I use photography directly with conversation exposing the atrocities Targeted Individuals (TIs) endure on a daily basis; from Gang Stalking, Community Based Stalking and Workplace Mobbing. Perpetrators will use tactics that systematically, psychologically destroy the TIs life; as if death by a thousand cuts. Many of these tactics taken directly from military psych ops; extreme repetitive noise campaigns, gaslighting, stalking, harassment and sleep deprivation. Most of the perpetrators are playing a tiny role, unknowing the detrimental psychological and physical impact on their Target, the Targets family and livelihood. This is done every day, all day and night. Targets eventually sharing a type of PTSD and with ubiquitous surveillance their lives turned into a performance; which is recorded, stored and then can be manipulated, viewed and infinitely replayed, all while discrediting the Target. The Target is left isolated from friends, coworkers and family.
In today’s government and corporate reign; I’m addressing these problems in ways the news media and legislators wont. Month after month surveillance tactics by our government are being exposed; phones, computers, cameras, internet, snail mail and planes are being used. What isn’t being exposed through news media is; this is also being carried out by your neighbors, your coworkers, those pretending to be your friend. Groups, neighborhoods, communities and coworkers are fed derogatory, defaming lies, innuendoes about an individual (Target) in their community. Those easily influenced and morally inept are then rallied by self-anointed sociopaths; to destroy the individual’s’ life, rid their precious community of said individual (Target). Yosemite National Park is such a community; Law Enforcement, its Superintendent is fully aware of it and allows it, as do most communities in the United States. This is our government at its best; they have an opportunity to stop Gang Stalking and Workplace Mobbing on government soil, but chose to allow it and place blame on the victim.
For posting this there will be retaliation; the morally inept will be rallied and called upon to harass, stalk, push my buttons and try their best to get me to act out of character. This is a risk many of us will take; we love our country, we are patriots and will not be intimidated by the morally corrupt. Without exposure and dialog there will be no change. Help us expose and stop Gang Stalking, Community Based Stalking and Workplace Mobbing.

Siesta; meaning sleep, is something I get very little of. The more I speak out and post about Yosemite’s Toxic work and living environment, the more it’s mobbing community retaliates. I go to work early and many days come home exhausted. I lie down to take a nap and my neighbors rally to stomp through the hall, in front of my room and at my door, slamming pots and pans, drop heavy things on the floor; anything to keep me from sleeping or relaxing in any form. Many times, one of the housing staff will show up to rally them into a frenzy, you know like they used to with “lynch mobs”, trying to add validity to their unethical and illegal behavior. As I started writing this they started stomping on floors. Harassment and retaliation are allowed in Yosemite national Park. I’m told I can move; I’ve moved 3 times in almost 10 years, what don’t these people get? That’s just their scapegoat.
Sadly, for years here in Yosemite they’ve been hiring like minded people. These people are supposed to be stewards of this magnificent park; many are far from such. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t apologize to a guest; because of incompetence, waste, extremely poor management, filth, dysfunction, fraud and employee behavior. It’s embarrassing to watch grown men and women act as if teenagers or younger. Their actions directly impacting the guest experience and the preservation of the park. These same men and women spreading hate for someone they don’t even know.
We have come to a bad place in America. If you would like see just how bad; come work and live in Yosemite National Park for a season.
I love this country and this park. I could give up and quit; that’s not me. It was not my father or my mother. I’m going to stay, continue to expose the Toxic working and living conditions, try to make this a better park for all that work and live here. What are you going to do Mr. Superintendent?
What is happening in Yosemite is WRONG!

So, the NASA "photographic history & archive section/department…individual" (if such/one even exists), and the “NASA on The Commons” buffoons stumbled upon this striking photo, probably/possibly here:
images.nasa.gov/details/81PC0758
and uploaded it today (January 29, 2025), accompanied by the following pablum:
“With the desert sky behind it, the Space Shuttle Columbia and 747/Shuttle Carrier Aircraft are poised for the return flight to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. After the successful first mission of the Space Shuttle, the orbiter was returned from the desert by a piggyback flight where it landed at KSC. Preparations now begin for the second launch.”
Not surprisingly, the above is a standard mindless, copy/paste of a clueless, vague & wrong description. This is obviously a preflight…to any flight, photo of OV-102, likely taken between March 20 - 24, 1979, during the vehicle’s original delivery to KSC.
I wonder how the NASA stooges came up with the photo ID (KSC-81PC-0758) & date in the first place??? 🎯 or 🎲 maybe?
Further, comments were of course disabled for their posting of the image. We wouldn't want constructive criticism or the ability to set the record straight permitted, now would we?
Good grief.
Update: Coincidentally...or not, as of the posting day (January 29, 2025), of this image, “NASA on The Commons” on Flickr went “buh-bye”, for a brief period at least. It's back - in all its "glory", YAY. However, the photo is no longer. Perpetual buffoonery. But hey, at least it's still here:
images.nasa.gov/details/81PC0758
But I digress. In (I’m hoping) proper context, the photo, amongst others, is here:

Lastly, prompted by Flickr user Dikkie Dick’s comment, I took a closer look at the image. There appear to be a row of hangar doors visible at the lower left, beneath the wing of the SCA. Through my conscientious & earnest research, I came across a photo (of another SCA/Orbiter combo), with similar doors in the background, which would seem to support this photo having been taken at the Dryden Flight Research Center, Edwards Air Force Base. Additional stellar research (IMHO) then revealed the combo to be (IMHO II) positioned/photographed at the entrance to the “Weight and Balance Hangar”.
The “Weight and Balance Hangar”:
“Perhaps the most unique of the facilities along Contractor's Row is Building 1830, commonly referred to as the Weight and Balance Hangar. This 300 feet by 400 feet clear-span aircraft hangar is equipped with a large, flush-mounted floor-installed, calibrated scale system to determine an aircraft's gross weight as well as provide data to compute its center of gravity. This capability is available for nearly any size aircraft. The system comprises four tables-arranged in a cruciform pattern each with a 300,000 pound capacity and capable of measuring in 20 pound increments.
The center of gravity computation is performed on the largest of these platforms which provides for longitudinal leveling of aircraft via an electrically controlled vertical adjustment through a range of 69 inches.”

[335.005, Massalfasar, 2/8/2014]

Originally dating to around 1320, the building is important because it has most of its original features; successive owners effected relatively few changes to the main structure, after the completion of the quadrangle with a new chapel in the 16th century. Pevsner described it as "the most complete small medieval manor house in the county", and it remains an example that shows how such houses would have looked in the Middle Ages. Unlike most courtyard houses of its type, which have had a range demolished, so that the house looks outward, Nicholas Cooper observes that Ightham Mote wholly surrounds its courtyard and looks inward, into it, offering little information externally.[9] The construction is of "Kentish ragstone and dull red brick,"[10] the buildings of the courtyard having originally been built of timber and subsequently rebuilt in stone.[11]
The moat of Ightham Mote
The house has more than 70 rooms, all arranged around a central courtyard, "the confines circumscribed by the moat."[10] The house is surrounded on all sides by a square moat, crossed by three bridges. The earliest surviving evidence is for a house of the early 14th century, with the great hall, to which were attached, at the high, or dais end, the chapel, crypt and two solars. The courtyard was completely enclosed by increments on its restricted moated site, and the battlemented tower was constructed in the 15th century. Very little of the 14th century survives on the exterior behind rebuilding and refacing of the 15th and 16th centuries.
The structures include unusual and distinctive elements, such as the porter's squint, a narrow slit in the wall designed to enable a gatekeeper to examine a visitor's credentials before opening the gate. An open loggia with a fifteenth-century gallery above, connects the main accommodations with the gatehouse range. The courtyard contains a large, 19th century dog kennel.[12] The house contains two chapels; the New Chapel, of c.1520, having a barrel roof decorated with Tudor roses. [13] Parts of the interior were remodelled by Richard Norman Shaw.[14] wikipedia
16th century-late 19th century
The house remained in the Selby family for nearly 300 years.[3] Sir William was succeeded by his nephew, also Sir William, who is notable for handing over the keys of Berwick-upon-Tweed to James I on his way south to succeed to the throne.[4] He married Dorothy Bonham of West Malling but had no children. The Selbys continued until the mid-19th century when the line faltered with Elizabeth Selby, the widow of a Thomas who disinherited his only son.[5] During her reclusive tenure, Joseph Nash drew the house for his multi-volume illustrated history Mansions of England in the Olden Time, published in the 1840s.[6] The house passed to a cousin, Prideaux John Selby, a distinguished naturalist, sportsman and scientist. On his death in 1867, he left Ightham Mote to a daughter, Mrs Lewis Marianne Bigge. Her second husband, Robert Luard, changed his name to Luard-Selby. Ightham Mote was rented-out in 1887 to American Railroad magnate William Jackson Palmer and his family. For three years Ightham Mote became a centre for the artists and writers of the Aesthetic Movement with visitors including John Singer Sargent, Henry James, and Ellen Terry. When Mrs Bigge died in 1889, the executors of her son Charles Selby-Bigge, a Shropshire land agent, put the house up for sale in July 1889.[6]
Late 19th century-21st century
The Mote was purchased by Thomas Colyer-Fergusson.[6] He and his wife brought up their six children at the Mote. In 1890-1891, he carried out much repair and restoration, which allowed the survival of the house after centuries of neglect.[7] Ightham Mote was opened to the public one afternoon a week in the early 20th century.[7]
Sir Thomas Colyer-Fergusson's third son, Riversdale, died aged 21 in 1917 in the Third Battle of Ypres, and won a posthumous Victoria Cross. A wooden cross in the New Chapel is in his memory. The oldest brother, Max, was killed at the age of 49 in a bombing raid on an army driving school near Tidworth in 1940 during World War II. One of the three daughters, Mary (called Polly) married Walter Monckton.
On Sir Thomas's death in 1951, the property and the baronetcy passed to Max's son, James. The high costs of upkeep and repair of the house led him to sell the house and auction most of the contents. The sale took place in October 1951 and lasted three days. It was suggested that the house be demolished to harvest the lead on the roofs, or that it be divided into flats. Three local men purchased the house: William Durling, John Goodwin and John Baldock. They paid £5,500 for the freehold, in the hope of being able to secure the future of the house.[8]
In 1953, Ightham Mote was purchased by Charles Henry Robinson, an American of Portland, Maine, United States. He had known the property when stationed nearby during the Second World War. He lived there for only fourteen weeks a year for tax reasons. He made many urgent repairs, and partly refurnished the house with 17th-century English pieces. In 1965, he announced that he would give Ightham Mote and its contents to the National Trust. He died in 1985 and his ashes were immured just outside the crypt. The National Trust took possession in that year.[8]
In 1989, the National Trust began an ambitious conservation project that involved dismantling much of the building and recording its construction methods before rebuilding it. During this process, the effects of centuries of ageing, weathering, and the destructive effect of the deathwatch beetle were highlighted. The project ended in 2004 after revealing numerous examples of structural and ornamental features which had been covered up by later additions.[1]

Me empolguei hoje!
3 ovos

The A7Riv is an "All things to all men" camera having a 61MP full-frame sensor and every conceivable option and feature to suit everyone from the sports and wildlife photographer (both video and still) to the landscape photographer. No one owner will use more than a fraction of its features.
All of its many custom buttons and dials (and a very useful, multi-segment Quick Menu feature) can be programmed to suit the user's requirements and style - the permutations are infinite.
I myself will never use the vast majority of its features. As a static pictorial photographer, my choosing the A7RIV as a replacement for my APS-C format A6500 was determined by just four of them - the choice of aspect ratios (3:2, 4:3, 16:9 and 1:1) selectable quickly via a function button and dial, back-button autofocus with spot focusing area, 5-exposure bracketing at full stop increments, and dual UHS-II card slots to guard against card failure. Other advantages include a front dial which inter alia allows apertures to be selected with the camera held to the eye.
The intention was to use my 3 existing E-Mount APS-C format lenses, which the 61MP sensor makes possible with no loss of megapixels vs the 24MP A6500. But this was not utilising the A7R's full potential, and a Sony 24mm-105mm f4 zoom was subsequently purchased. Together, it and the A7Riv make a hefty package with a combined weight of over 3 lbs. This lens has a programmable function button and inbuilt IS which works in conjunction with the A7R's in-body, 5-axis IS. The AF/MF switch on the lens allows MF to be selected instantly on the rare occasions that it is needed, allowing a fully automatic AF mode to be set as a default.
The A7 also allows legacy film camera lenses (which utilise the full sensor) to be used via adaptors, with both aperture-priority automatic exposure and SteadyShot operating. I have used a Micro Nikkor 55mm f3.5, one of the sharpest prime lenses ever, and with it the A7RIV produces images of medium-format quality.
Reservations about this camera include the fact that the lossless compressed RAW option mentioned in the manual is not included in the current firmware release, and that AR settings are applied only to .jpg images, RAW files coming out 3:2 regardless of the chosen AR, the crop having to be repeated in post processing.
A WORD OF ADVICE. The default Auto ISO settings on this camera assume that it is being used for static subjects, and in P or A exposure mode, in normal lighting conditions and with smaller apertures will set a low ISO (100) and a relatively slow shutter speed (60th). For street photography and moving subjects, set the Minimum ISO to at least 200.

Sunset over Greenwich Bay, in Sydney harbour, Australia. I noticed high cloud in the afternoon drifting over the city and went down to my local park in case some colour appeared just after sunset. Nature certainly delivered this time.
