In April 2004, Absolut increased its brand assortment with Absolut Cut, a flavored alcoholic beverage (FAB) and ready-to-drink (RTD) product. The bottle shares the iconic neck and shoulders of the legendary Absolut Vodka bottle with distinctive 'cuts' etched into the glass.
Absolut Cut, the first flavor consisting of sparkling citrus flavors (lime, orange and mandarin) was launched in 2005. During 2005-2006, three line extensions were developed: Absolut Sharp Cut (grapefruit and cranberry), launched in Canada as the first line extension, followed by Absolut Clear Cut (mandarin and kiwi) and Absolut Crisp Cut (apple and lime).
The products (sold in Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia) were not produced in Åhus, but by Co-packers in three different plants:
1. Interbrew, Lakeport, Canada (production started in 2004).
2. Thomas Hardy Burtonwood Breweries, United Kingdom (production started in May 2005).
3. Contract Bottling Company (CBC), New Zealand (production started in August 2005).
The alcohol strength was 7% in Canada and 5% in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Despite its success in Australia, the product was pulled off the market in March 2007 (the products were phased out during 2006-2007), less than three years after its launch, starting in Canada (already in November 2005), then the United Kingdom followed by Australia.

Thin and low-weighing cattle are no-longer a problem for these members of Nesigwe Feedlot committee. Through assistance from the project, the committee now have a feedlot which they use to pen-fatten their cattle for an average of 60 days before they go for sale. They have also acquired crucial knowledge on animal health and best practices in pen-fattening. A combination of good animal husbandry practices and sufficient fattening of their beasts has led to increased prices on the market for the Nesigwe Feedlot farmers.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and Special Olympics today signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at increasing access to quality health care for people with intellectual disabilities.
Under the agreement, the organizations will collaborate to train health workers, educate policymakers, create partnerships, disseminate information, and mobilize some 365,000 athletes and partners in the Special Olympics movement in Latin America.
PAHO/WHO Director Dr. Carissa F. Etienne said “By making health care more inclusive for people with intellectual disabilities in the Americas, this collaboration with Special Olympics will reduce inequalities in health systems throughout the region. To achieve universal health coverage, PAHO must collaborate with health authorities, specialized agencies, academic institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations to provide better health care for people with these disabilities.”
Special Olympics Chairman of the Board Timothy P. Shriver, PhD, said “The structural barriers, stigma, and outright discrimination people with intellectual disabilities ID face to access health care services is unacceptable. Collaborating with PAHO/WHO will break down barriers to health care for the most marginalized people in the Americas. This collaboration between PAHO/WHO and Special Olympics will make health truly inclusive for people with ID, and will bring this historically marginalized population into health systems designed to serve them.”
The memorandum of understanding signed by Dr. Shriver and Dr. Etienne sets objectives that focus on strengthening health systems to serve all people with ID, including athletes competing at Special Olympics events, and includes a specific objective to promote the participation and empowerment of people with ID to become self-advocates and leaders in this regional movement. This partnership will directly support PAHO’s Action Plan on Disabilities and Rehabilitation, which aims to improve access to health services for people with disabilities.
More than one billion people in the world live with some form of disability, according to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 2011 World Report on Disability. Some 30 countries of the Americas have ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which affirms that all persons with all types of disabilities must enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
However, people with ID still face enormous stigma, discrimination, and exclusion, and they are often an invisible population whose worth is unknown to governments, influencers, and society at large. Despite severe need and higher health risks, people with ID are often denied basic health care and services and are frequently among the most vulnerable populations in any country.

New Yorkers assembled to call on the world leaders to increase access to sanitation and safe drinking water with the international organization WaterAid on September 24th, 2013 In New York City.
Lack of water and sanitation kills more than 700,000 children each year and costs developing countries $260 billion. One in ten lack access to water and one in three do not have a toilet.
WaterAid is the leading international organization working to improve access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation. A petition with more than one million signatures will be presented to the UN as part of a day-long High Level Forum on the Millennium Development Goals on Monday. The petition was created by the End Water Poverty campaign coalition and signatures were gathered across the globe including Africa and South Asia, two regions that have some of the lowest levels of access to sanitation and water. The Pakistan Strategy Support Program (PSSP) held the conference, “Increasing Productivity and Unleashing Growth” at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad on May 26-27th, 2012. This conference also marked the final round of the Competitive Grants Program that was launched by PSSP in January 2012 for Pakistani PhD and graduate students studying locally and abroad on economic development issues of Pakistan. The finalists presented in front of the Research Advisory Committee, donor heads, professors and students from local universities. The event also consisted of plenary sessions on Pakistan’s various economic growth issues by renowned academics from all over the world, such as Dr. Jock Anderson, Dr. Regina Birner and Dr. David Spielman.
The Depot Historic District Boundary Increase adds three properties to the existing historic district which was listed in 2002. The ca. 1914 Swift and Company Warehouse, the ca. 1914 Swift and Company Warehouse No. 2, and the ca. 1918 Caveness Produce Company Warehouse date to the district’s period of significance and contribute under the nominated criteria and areas of significance—Criterion A for industry and commerce and Criterion C for architecture. All three are wholesale distribution warehouses built for national companies in close proximity to the railroads that allowed for the movement of freight. Architecturally, the three buildings are small-scale, masonry industrial buildings with largely unadorned exteriors and open, utilitarian interiors, similar to the other contributing resources in the district.
In the past three decades, fast-food consumption has increased dramatically in the world. McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Burger King, a stack of fast food restaurants densely cover all main streets. It has been widespread in the world and its global standardization has swept away many traditions. It is worrying that fast food is associated with increasing obesity and many chronic diseases. Shopping at a local farmers’ market and eating organic food should be ways to resist fast food. So I decided to take pictures in local farmers market and Wholefood market to document people and food there. It shows more and more people who like shopping at the local farmers market and choosing organic food. The fruits were picked at peak maturity without any processing, so they were fresh and kept original flavor. They also look so delicious. I also wanted to take pictures in McDonalds’, but the store manager refused my request. I was only able to take pictures outside.
This is a seismograph station record from Norris Junction in Yellowstone, Wyoming. The increase in "noise" near the middle of the graph (click on the image to zoom in) is a major eruption of Steamboat Geyser. The eruption started at 9:40 PM on 11 September 2019.
Steamboat is the world's tallest geyser. Its eruptions are normally unpredictable - it can go years or even decades without erupting. Steamboat entered an exciting active phase in spring 2018. From fall to the end of 2018, Steamboat continued to erupt about once every 5 to 9 days. 2018 set the record for the most active year ever, with 32 eruptions. 2019 broke that record - this is the 35th eruption of Steamboat Geyser this year. In January 2019, intervals (= eruption start to eruption start) were about 9 to 11.5 days. In February 2019, intervals were about 7 to 9.5 days. March 2019 intervals were about 6 to 8 days. In April 2019, intervals were 14 days and 17 days. Longer intervals between Steamboat eruptions are known to occur during "disturbances" at Norris Geyser Basin (this also happened in summer 2018). In May 2019, after the disturbance ended, intervals were 7 days, 5 days, 5.5 days, 6.8 days, 7 days, and 5 days. In June 2019, intervals were 5 days, 5.5 days, 3 days, 3.4 days, 4.5 days, and 5.5 days. ~Three day intervals are remarkably short for Steamboat Geyser. In July 2019, intervals were 5 days, 6.75 days, 7.5 days, 5.8, and ~6.25 days. In August 2019, intervals were 13.6 days, 7.6 days, and 6.9 days. The two week long interval in August was due to another Norris Basin disturbance. In September 2019, intervals were ~6.7 days and 8.8 days. Yellowstone's seismograph records are made available to the public in near-real time.

Video of Steamboat's 4 June 2018 eruption:
The increasing fear that the US Navy's carrier fleet was vulnerable to attack--especially nuclear attack--led the Navy to consider basing small numbers of aircraft aboard submarines. The submarine, using its inherent stealth, could creep close to enemy shores, launch an airstrike, recover aircraft, and be gone before the enemy could react. This had been done by the Japanese--albeit without much success--during World War II, with large submarines that could carry one or two floatplanes. The problem with the concept was that one or two aircraft was all a submarine at the time could conceivably field.
At the same time, the Ryan Aircraft Company began tinkering with the idea of vertically-launched and recovered aircraft, and the Navy commissioned Ryan to create the F3R, an experimental, vertical take off and landing (VTOL) fighter. The F3R was not really intended to become an operational aircraft, but it could lead to one. The USAF was also interested in a VTOL fighter, and issued a similar requirement. As a result, the F3R was redesignated X-13, and named the Vertijet by Ryan.
For its time, the Vertijet was indeed revolutionary: though other countries were also experimenting with VTOL aircraft, the X-13's use of vectored thrust meant that it would not need to worry about the added weight of lift engines--which would become useless after takeoff and before landing. Smaller jets were installed at either end of the wing to provide roll control, and a delta wing was chosen for maximum lift. It would be hooked to a trailer that could then be towed to wherever it was needed, launch, transition to conventional flight, then return and reverse the process.
The X-13 first flew in December 1955, with a conventional landing gear to make sure the design itself was aerodynamically sound. It was, and the first X-13 was found to be able to transition smoothly between vertical and horizontal flight. The second actually tested the tower-launch concept and flew a full "mission" at Edwards AFB in April 1957.
Though the X-13 had been a success, it was a success without a mission. The Navy abandoned the idea of submarine carriers as being unworkable, and the USAF did not see a need for a VTOL aircraft, especially given the X-13's short range. The aircraft were retired in late 1957. The VTOL concept was not forgotten, however: the Vertijet's use of vectored thrust would have influence on a new design then reaching prototype stage in Great Britain: Hawker-Siddeley's Harrier.
This is the first X-13 prototype, 54-1619, displayed on its launch trailer. Just how small this aircraft is has to be appreciated by seeing it up close. It is kept up in the bare metal finish 54-1619 carried while testing. If it looks a bit crowded in this picture, it was--the Gillespie Annex only has one hangar, and space is at a premium. The other X-13 is at the NMUSAF at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, so now I can say I've seen them both!

Video of Steamboat's 4 June 2018 eruption:
In an attempt to increase tourism, Belfast City Council designated a number of cultural quarters at the beginning of the new millennium, and it was then that the Cathedral Quarter was born, The area is named after St. Anne's Cathedral. The church was built between the years of 1899 and 1904 and enjoys a central setting on Donegall Street, beside Ulster University.
This week was the first time that I got the opportunity to see the inside of St. Anne’s Cathedral and to be honest I think that it will be the last time.
I am not religious so in theory it should not worry or bother me that the place had the feeling of a commercial enterprise rather than that of a ‘house of god’. Upon entering the building the interior struck me as being styled in the manner on a modern art gallery rather than a cathedral but in a way it could be described as attractive or even beautiful but it totally lacks atmosphere.
Before I visited Belfast I checked some tourist guides and they all indicated that entry to the cathedral was free but that donations were appreciated. When I went into the Cathedral much of of the centre was cordoned-off as some work was in progress.
There was a merchandising section not far from the entrance and this was manned by a lady who was having a conversation with two people who were either guides or church officials, they were dressed in blue. I was nearly at the altar when I was approached by the lady who explained that there was a nominal fee which needed to be paid before I left.
While I would describe the place as attractive and bright I did not find it in anyway interesting but this could because I am not at all comfortable with a church that features military artefacts as a major attraction.
I took a few photographs and then went to pay the ’nominal fee’ and I was more than surprised when I was informed that the cost of entry was £5.00.

In particular, on the islands of Boa Vista (Club Hotel Riu Karamboa (750 rooms)), and Sal (Club Hotel Riu Funana/Garopa (1000 rooms)--the largest hotel in all of West Africa). The Cape Verde islands have a relatively low crime rate and beautiful beaches, as well as having engaging local people. Tourists and leisure seekers from across Europe and the world are coming to the country in larger numbers.
