她慢慢帶走沉默 ....

Well, for a change of pace....another smoke image. Last year I made a bunch of these smoke images and have occasionally posted one. This one looked like a cigarette lighter so that is how I colored it! Where there is fire the is smoke....and sometimes more fire!!! :-)
The smoke comes from 'cheap' incense sticks that cost about $1.00 for 20 sticks so if the weather is bad and raining or cold outside it allows for another way to shoot indoors!
Here is a link to all the smoke images I have posted. www.flickr.com/photos/larry_d/sets/72157630166666926/

52 Weeks: The 2021 Edition Theme: Smoke
Week 4/52
This was harder than expected. I've not got incense sticks and would not be allowed to use them either! I tried making a smoke stick from paper but that was not very good.
This photo is taken in natural light. It's the smoke from a candle in a glass that's been extinguished by placing a lid over it, then taking the lid off and photographing the result.
The result was a bit bland so, unusually for me, it's been edited. I reduced the red channel, increased contrast and finally switched the red and blue channels.

i've always wanted to photograph smoke so i bought some incense sticks last week.
Colors were rendered digitally in photoshop cs3.
There was a very faint shape of heart produced in the smoke so i thought to myself, why not get wild (just for fun)... so i enhanced the heart shape using the liquify tool in Photoshop cs3 ...
hope you like it!

The veneration of the dead, including one's ancestors, is based on love and respect for the deceased. In some cultures, it is related to beliefs that the dead have a continued existence, and may possess the ability to influence the fortune of the living. Some groups venerate their direct, familial ancestors. Certain sects and religions, in particular the Roman Catholic Church, venerate saints as intercessors with God, as well as pray for departed souls in Purgatory.
In Europe, Asia, and Oceania, and in some African and Afro-diasporic cultures, the goal of ancestor veneration is to ensure the ancestors' continued well-being and positive disposition towards the living, and sometimes to ask for special favours or assistance. The social or non-religious function of ancestor veneration is to cultivate kinship values, such as filial piety, family loyalty, and continuity of the family lineage. Ancestor veneration occurs in societies with every degree of social, political, and technological complexity, and it remains an important component of various religious practices in modern times.
Ancestor veneration is one of the most unifying aspects of Vietnamese culture, as practically all Vietnamese, regardless of religious affiliation (Buddhist or Catholic) have an ancestor altar in their home or business.
In Vietnam, traditionally people did not celebrate birthdays (before Western influence), but the death anniversary of one's loved one was always an important occasion. Besides an essential gathering of family members for a banquet in memory of the deceased, incense sticks are burned along with hell notes, and great platters of food are made as offerings on the ancestor altar, which usually has pictures or plaques with the names of the deceased. In case of missing persons believed dead their family, a Wind tomb is made, an empty tomb to venerate their dead.
These offerings and practices are done frequently during important traditional or religious celebrations, the starting of a new business, or even when a family member needs guidance or counsel and is a hallmark of the emphasis Vietnamese culture places on filial duty.
A significant distinguishing feature of Vietnamese ancestor veneration is that women have traditionally been allowed to participate and co-officiate ancestral rites, unlike in Chinese Confucian doctrine, which allows only male descendants to perform such rites.

🇬🇧 In the vibrant village of Quang Phu Cau, Vietnam, the magic of incense comes alive. During our photographic adventure, Elena and I delved into this unique place to capture the intense colors of incense, a fundamental element in Vietnamese spiritual life.
In every home, temple, pagoda or shrine, incense plays an essential role: it connects the world of the living with that of the spirits and pays homage to the ancestors. Quang Phu Cau, proud to be Vietnam's largest incense maker, preserves this age-old tradition with dedication and artistry.
Pictured here is a worker surrounded by red incense sticks, drying in the open air, in a landscape that seems painted with passion and devotion 🌺✨.
This series is dedicated to my dear father who very sadly passed away this week on Monday 11 March 2019 after battling illness for more than a year. The funeral parlour and service were quite beautiful and moving and I hope to share a little of the local Chinese culture and traditions involved.
At a traditional Chinese wake, joss/incense sticks would be burnt and offered to the deceased. However, to be more environment-friendly and to enable guests of other faiths and religions to partake in the offerings, flowers were used here instead. Each person would pick up a plate with a flower, bow three times in front of a portrait of my father, and then place the flower on top of water in a big bowl on the altar.
Ah, so you think I admire the British and European culture, landscape and history a lot. And I do, but part of me is also very traditional Chinese, something that I inherited from mother. To her, the foremost important thing to do on Chinese/ Lunar New Year (today 2019-02-05, Year of the Pig) is to ask for good blessings and good health from the gods.
Many of you can see on the TV news what people do outside on Chinese New Year publicly. Well, this is what goes on in our household this morning. Mother lit candles and incense sticks in front of our chalcedony (agate) statue of Guanyin the Goddess of Mercy, and asked for good blessings, good health, safe travels and smooth work for the extended Chin household and all our friends (so that would include all of you : ))))

The Balinese Garden reflects people's aspiration to be in harmony with themselves, their environment and the entire universe. In Bali it is said that a harmonious coexistence of the demons of the earth, the gods of the sky and the people of the earth is essential and makes life possible. The Balinese Garden is designed so that all elements can be in harmony. That is why it is called "Garden of the Three Harmonies" - in Balinese Tri Hita Karana. The garden was created in 2003 as part of the Berlin-Jakarta city partnership and covers a total of 2,000 square metres. In the centre of the hall stands a South Balinese residential courtyard, which is separated from its surroundings by a mudbrick wall. The building elements of the residence were designed by the Indonesian architect I Putu Edy Semara and prefabricated to a large extent on Bali. The temple complex called "Pura" serves the Bali community living in Berlin as a place where they can practice their culture as well as their religion. In 2012, two additional shrines were built and consecrated in a solemn ceremony by priests flown in from Bali. On them you will always find offerings such as flowers, fruits or incense sticks, which serve to placate the gods. As part of the IGA Berlin 2017, the exotic complex not only received a new shell, but also a new setting: the 1,200 m² tropical hall! The energy-efficient hot-house allows cultivation of sophisticated tropical plants. Now, finally, a real Balinese jungle could emerge! he residence and the gardens are housed in the 14 m high halls. The adjoining cold-house is used as an exhibition room during the summer months and as an orangery during the winter months.

Abused, Abandoned Jungle Dogs.
Back Story .......................................
Arrived at The Dog Palace slightly past 3:15AM.
Roads "going out" were dry as a bone.
Mama was full of excitement and we were soon
in the bingo room where her food was laid out.
Fresh cooked chicken in one bowl with fresh dry
kibble in another.
She sniffed her food then raced back over to me
and crashed down on my feet. Her only interest
right then was to share all her stories, and she did.
I surrendered and sat on the tile floor with Mama
as she went into great detail about all the events
over the last few days.
After 15 minutes my old bones were talking to me
as well, so I stood up while encouraging Mama to eat.
Fan was circulating the humid air, incense sticks burning
in the corner. Leaving the small overhead light on I sat
on the side of the bed and started reading. Mama is sitting
on my toes looking at me as if there's more talking to be done.
Around 4:30AM the light was extinguished and my head hit
the pillow.
6:47AM both eyes opened about the same time, how do I know this ? Well first off they're my eyes, second cuz I used
both of them to check the cell phone clock, easy deal .. ;-)
By 7AM Mama and I are on the move. First stop is Apollo.
Didn't work out quite as planned so here's the run down.
Apollo had followed Mr Kind Monk to another building on
the other side of The Leroy Crews Turf, no problem.
So first Tuff Guy and Girl Friend were fed at the new usual
place . Remember old usual place was over by the big drum.
New usual place is between Apollos new usual place and
Honeys old usual place. Hope y'all are still with me here........
Pulled out a bag of chicken/rice and fed TG&GF. Still having
a difficult time getting pain pills down GF's throat, very difficult.
She's doing so so but only so so. If the gofundme contest is
successful then the proper transportation will be set up and she will be on the way to the veterinarian.
Continued on to give Honey her small bag of treats which she gobbled up at record speed. Not to much farther and Apollo was fed. His Mange is drying up, looks better and in 10 days he'll see the vet again.
Headed back towards the cement walking bridge where guess who is waiting ? .. Mama, Rocky, Little Stubby and of course Tinker Bell. Huge excitement as you can imagine !
The 5 of us kept right on trekking towards The Nuns Place.
Now envision walking with 4 dogs all trying to do circle 8's between your legs while at the same time playing grab ass with each other. We made it safe and sound .. ;-)
Anna was on the porch as usual barking as we approached.
Nuns were happy to see both Mama & myself and started jabbering away in Thai . I sat smiling and laughing as Tinker Bell tried her best to climb up on my head . Needless to say my clean white shirt was white no longer. TB had visited a mud puddle just prior to my arrival .
Mama, Rocky, Tinker Bell and Little Stubby followed me back to The Dog Palace. Rocky wanted to enter the bingo room, Mama said NO ! He sat outside the door looking in with sad eyes. Remember Mama has her two dog bowls to watch over !
Few minutes later I laid back on the bed to continue reading while Mama laid on the threshold blocking Rocky or any monkeys from entering her sacred domain.
Did run up to the roof for this shot then back to the prone position with a book in my hand.
11:30AM came about and I could hear the thunder starting .
Sky was turning a nasty shade of gray as cumulus clouds were fast approaching. Gathered all the stuff, said my good bys, mounted the scooter and hit the road just as marble size rain drops were hitting my helmet.
While flying down the back roads the storm was building speed and right on my 6. Some rain was barely touching me as I continued the race towards my place, about an hour away.
Half way home I did have a pretty good lead on the storm but about 3-4 clicks from my destination another storm from the west was also gaining speed and boxing me in, ggggrrrrrrr !!
Wasn't that bad just a slight sprinkle got me but 20 minutes later while I was safe inside the skies opened up for another monsoon downpour.

The Yonghe Temple, "Palace of Peace and Harmony", also known as the Yonghe Lamasery, or popularly as the Lama Temple, is a temple and monastery of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism located in Dongcheng District, Beijing, China. The building and artwork of the temple is a combination of Han Chinese and Tibetan styles.
Buddhist practitioners light and burn incense sticks. They raise the burning sticks above the head and bow to the statues of Buddha. Then they place their sticks vertically on burners from which smoke wafts.
Worshipers do so in a hope to talk to the Buddha who will appear in the smoke. This is the scene you will see in most of the functioning Buddhist temples in China.
Incense burning is a common Chinese religious ritual in Chinese Buddhism as well as Chinese ancestor worship and Taoism. The most common practice is that followers burn three sticks of incense at once, one for the Buddha; another for the Buddha’s teachings, known as the Dharma; and a third for the community of Buddhists, the Sangha.

Getting enlightened is so different from just learning the Buddhist teaching.
All the fortune, wealth, money, good health, love, relationship or families and even any well-beings are temporal in Buddha's teaching. One should not look for these and you will just be in more pain or suffering.
The Buddhist followers knows the concepts very well.
Yet the people are still begging for more of those even in a Buddhist temple. They burned the incense sticks and prayed for more of those e.g. good health, good luck, good relationship, good fortune etc. .
This is scene I saw at Richmond Buddhist Temple.
Have a calm and peaceful weeken!
