Close up of Hsinbyume Pagoda with the jungle and the Ayeyarwadi as the backdrop. It is painted white probably because Hsinbyume means "white elephant lady."

The stone pile in the right is to mark the edge of Mingun Pagoda for tourists not to fall on the ground 50 m below.

Incense sticks were inserted into the pile for unknown reasons.

The Buddha Said — Alan Watts ft. Akira The Don

And so, that is a nice little tangle

If I put this in the language

Of oriental philosophy and religion

It would be something like this

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

One who abandons that desire attains nirvana

Which is supreme peace liberation

Nirvana means, in Sanskrit blow out

That is, exhale the breath exhale the breath

The opposite, dеsire, is to breathe in

Now, if you brеathe in, and hold it

You lose your breath

But if you breathe out, it comes back to you

It comes back to you

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

So the principle here is if you want life

Don't cling to it let go

Let go

But the problem is if I desire not to desire

Is that not already desire?

How can I desire not to desire?

How can I surrender myself

When myself is precisely an urge to hold on

To cling?

To cling to life, to continue to survive

To survive to survive

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

The Buddha said that wisdom

Must come only from the

Abandonment of selfish craving, or desire

I can see rationally

That by clinging to myself

I may strangle myself

I may be like a person who has a bad habit

As a result of which he is committing suicide

And he knows that but can't give it up

Because the means of death are so sweet

Wong Tai Sin, Hong Kong’s only landlocked district, is home to an intriguing mix of temples and towers, colour and calm, a heady mix that’s quintessentially Hong Kong. The neighbourhood is named after the god Wong Tai Sin; his portrait can be found inside the vibrant Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple, where believers flock to present offerings and ask for good fortune. The temple draws the biggest crowds on the eve of Chinese New Year, when visitors rush in to burn their incense sticks for luck at the stroke of midnight. - HONG KONG TOURISM BOARD

It was another challenging theme for me.

About 10 out of 200 photos show acceptable results.

Thank you, Macro-Monday-team for the Lessons Learned!

(Need incense sticks for the next try 😇)

For #MacroMondays and this week's theme #Smoke.

Happy Macro Monday!

Thanks for all your faves and comments everyone!

I really appreciate them!

This image was created using Incense Sticks, the Aroma was so strong that I was banished to the Garden Shed........is this what they call suffering for your Art ??

香火鼎盛,祈願上達天聽

The burning of incense sticks is a traditional practice in a Toist temple. When praying, people hold burning incense and hope that the smoke will deliver the prayers to the gods. After that, they put them in the big bowl shaped香爐.

Incense sticks !! Prayer time at the Buddha Temple

I was trying to focus on the incense sticks and have the monk praying to Buddha as bokeh !

A rather unusual photo for me. I'm usually never that close when I take photos of people. But here the people didn't even care about me and the camera, they were focused on lighting the incense sticks.

Smoke from incense sticks creates lovely and random abstracts.

I let those five incense sticks burn down rather than reek to get a flame image for Crazy Tuesday - theme of April 27, 2021: On Fire

I had to be fast(ish) especially because the further the incense sticks burned the more they moved during the take (they virtually tipped over), creating rather blurry images

😄 HaPpY CrAzY Tuesday 😄 , everyone

(very busy day - so I will catch up later in the evening)

Ich habe fünf Räucherstäbchen abbrennen lassen (statt sie 'rauchen' zu lassen) für ein Flammenbild für Crazy Tuesday - Thema am 27. April 2021: On Fire / in Flammen

Ich musste relativ schnell sein, denn je weiter die Räucherstäbchen abbrannten, desto mehr bewegten sie sich während der Aufnahme (sie kippten quasi um), was viele ziemlich unscharfe Bilder ergab ...

Agarbathi or the incense sticks are very popular in Indian homes and for prayers.

The basic ingredients of an incense stick are bamboo sticks, joss paste and perfume ingredients.

This miniature elephant showcases traditional Indian handicraft . The base plate collects the falling ash . A couple of rose petals can be seen.

Hey folks, I used to be THE thing! Woodstock on water! Guitars, colorful clothes, freedom, and love all aboard! And now? Here I am, chilling with my stylish 70s blanket, waiting for the next generation of cool souls who can still hear the rhythm of the ocean. So, who’s got a guitar and is up for some Peace, Love & Rock’n’Roll?

Some say I’m just an old boat… But hey, back in the 70s, I was the hottest hangout for free spirits! This was the place to chill, philosophize, and maybe stare a little too deeply into the sunset. Who’s bringing the incense sticks? I’m ready for a revival! 🌈🎶

**My heart, my words. Please respect them.**

Dear reader,

These words you are reading right now, whether it's a poem, a short story, or a thought is a piece of my soul. I write with passion, each word flowing from my heart, deeply connected to me. My writings are not just words; they are alive, carrying my emotions and essence within them. are not just words they are alive, carrying my emotions and essence within them.

If you plan to take them without my permission, know this: you are also taking a piece of my soul. And with every stolen word, I will always be present within the lines you use.

So be mindful… You never know what lies hidden between the lines, for words hold a power that goes far beyond the visible.💫

Placing incense-sticks at the Buddhist temple Sensō-ji.

Sensō-ji was originally founded in 645, making it the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. According to legend it all began when two fishermen found a statue of the Kannon in the nearby river in 628 (they now are venerated in a nearby Shinto shrine: the Asakusa Shrine - Asakusa and Sensō are written with the same kanjis, by the way: 浅草 which can be read both ways). During the Tokugawa shogunate (beginning in 1603) Tokugawa Ieyasu chose Sensō-ji to be the tutelary temple of his clan. Earlier the temple was associated with the Tendai sect, but after World War II the temple went independent.

basically for drying the sticks, but of course as well for fotos by tourists
