I like this photo because it suggests that Balanced Rock isn't necessarily the impossible feat of nature that other perspectives demonstrate it to be. If you compare Balance Rock (center) to either of it's neighbors, you can see a similar pattern in the stone: large, rounded blocks of harder sandstone sitting atop weaker, visibly eroded sandstone. Perhaps Balanced Rock is just one step in the natural evolution of this particular formation, and that many of its neighbors will also exhibit the same characteristics one day (that is to say, one day many millions of years from now).

...to do it justice in a photo. Really needs to be seen in the flesh to appreciate the genius that went into it...
Nothing is impossible, or at least when Photoshop is around. Photographer and digital artist Erik Johansson, originally from Sweden and now based in Berlin, Germany, specializes in making impossible photographs, with the help of photo-editing software.

"Just woke up and thought I'd try
Try to step across the line
You know that I've been thinking 'bout it for a while
Yeah
Starting to think it's time I leave
Does me good to know I finally feel
Feel this pain, it's real, it's possible
(You say)
Can't change the winds, you say
Won't matter anyway
Can't reach that far
Cause it's impossible (it's impossible)
Can't rise above this place
Won't change your mind, so I pray
Breaking down the walls to the impossible (it's impossible)
Walking by myself I know
This lonely road's becoming my new home
But I don't stop
I just keep moving on, and on
Ain't no need to dry my eyes
I haven't cried in quite some time
Everyday I fight it,
You know it's possible
(You say)
Can't change the winds, you say
Won't matter anyway
Can't reach that far
Cause it's impossible (it's impossible)
Can't rise above this place
Won't change your mind, so I pray
Breaking down the walls to the impossible (it's impossible)
Someone tell me why
It's so hard taking chances
You draw the line and think that
I won't ask for more
Yeah
I will stumble and I'll make my own mistakes
Yeah
But I won't worry about it anymore
It's impossible
(You say)
Can't change the winds, you say
Won't matter anyway
Can't reach that far
Cause it's impossible (it's impossible)
Can't rise above this place
Won't change your mind, so I pray
Breaking down the walls to the impossible (it's impossible)
It's impossible to you
Not impossible for me
Not impossible for me
Can't rise above this place (impossible to you)
Won't change enough, so I pray (not impossible for me)
Breaking down the walls to the impossible (not impossible for me)
(it's impossible)
Just woke up and thought I'd try
Try to step across the line"
The people at Impossible Project held a open house and I was invited to join the tour of the factory. The place once employed 1200 people at the hight of the Polaroid days. Now just 36 people are the Impossible Project. All of them passionate, dedicated and giving their all to keep us Polaroid camera users happy with film. Daunting task and after the visit I have nothing but respect for people achieving the impossible.

Some Color Shade "First Blush" color film from The Impossible Project. Trying to take a photo of a circuit board completed for our Swamp Plexi amplifier project last night at Rich's place. Not exactly the kind of subject that Impossible film is suited to.
Anybody that feeds hummingbirds knows that this scene is impossible. They will fiercely defend a feeder, driving away all newcomers. We've wondered why the feeders have more than one port since only one can eat at a time.
Not any more!
