John Birks "Dizzy" Gillespie (October 21, 1917 – January 6, 1993) was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, composer and occasional singer. Allmusic's Scott Yanow wrote, "Dizzy Gillespie's contributions to jazz were huge. One of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time (some would say the best), Gillespie was such a complex player that his contemporaries ended up copying Miles Davis and Fats Navarro instead, and it was not until Jon Faddis's emergence in the 1970s that Dizzy's style was successfully recreated . . . Arguably Gillespie is remembered, by both critics and fans alike, as one of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time."
Gillespie was a trumpet virtuoso and improviser, building on the virtuoso style of Roy Eldridge but adding layers of harmonic complexity previously unknown in jazz. His beret and horn-rimmed spectacles, his scat singing, his bent horn, pouched cheeks and his light-hearted personality were essential in popularizing bebop.
In the 1940s Gillespie, together with Charlie Parker, became a major figure in the development of bebop and modern jazz. He taught and influenced many other musicians, including trumpeters Miles Davis, Fats Navarro, Clifford Brown, Arturo Sandoval, Lee Morgan, Jon Faddis and Chuck Mangione.

IMPOSSIBLE BW Gen 2 Pioneer Test film
This shot did not come out ANYTHING like I wanted...VERY contrasty, and WAAAY darker than the light that was there, but after a few weeks I looked at it again and little details came out...not much more, but just enough to give it a nice feeling.
It also got a lot more sepia over time, but for this shot, it works. This film is totally not ready for prime-time, but I feel it's a step in the right direction.

i guess now my contacts understand why i've been out of flickr and havent left any comments or answered any mail.. about this clone extravaganza i can only remember 300 movie: "madness?!.. this is Helder.." *kicks bad guy* lol. ever since i saw the new chinese adidas ad i knew i had to make something close 'cuz i just loved it and yes i'm that crazy... *note to self: those people were paid, you're just crazy*
day 300. big milestone as now i just feel closer to the end. i'm enjoying this a lot and i really wanted something clever to say but i'll only leave at this: when doing something for yourself you have to be your own strenght. you have to be the one to push yourselves, dont wait for others to support you or else nothing is going to happen as you want it to :-)
thank you all again for visiting you make this project alot better and i'm looking forward to the last 65 days. cool stuff ahead - but don't expect anything this crazy again :-)
*also check it BIG and i know there are a couple of mistakes in here but i just didnt have more patience to it. comments welcome and maybe someday i'll improve this :-)
These two 6 month old cubs were having a proper ding-dong for about 15 seconds - it was impossible to work out exactly what was happening as they tore after each other at breakneck speed - I just pointed the camera in their general direction and kept my finger pressed down!
A very good friend took me on a trip to Napa today... via plane. It was a wonderful flight and made me feel almost sad that I didn't live in the Bay Area anymore and was just visiting for the week.
I have seen images of the salt ponds with really vibrant colours. These pastels are still stunning though. I understand that the change in the vibrancy is down to more environmental practices to create salt marshes which reduces the saline content and changes the algae and bacteria present.
I still find these colours dramatic enough though. it seems almost impossible that algae and bacteria can cause such a patchwork of different shades.

I did know that there were Chevrolet hubcaps here in Malaysia but I didn't expect to see one so close! I only know that the Chevrolet Spark/Daewoo Matiz had hubcaps but were a different design. So there could be 2 or more variants of Chevrolet hubcaps here. Not sure what model of Chevrolet this hubcap was from as this hubcap was on a Proton Persona. It only 3 of this hubcap.
