I never could figure if this was a real wedding, or a class on shooting a wedding. Of the 3 times I rode my bike past this group, in 45 minutes, I never saw any wedding ceremony. I did see lots of bored wedding guest standing around waiting for the photo session to end. Of course by that time it seemed people were heading back to the reception in another area of the park..

Birmingham (Listeni/ˈbɜrmɪŋəm/, locally /ˈbɜrmɪŋɡəm/) is a city and metropolitan borough in the West Midlands of England. It is the most populous British city outside London with 1,085,400 residents (2012 estimate),[2] and its population increase of 88,400 residents between 2001 and 2011 was greater than that of any other British local authority.[3] The city lies within the West Midlands Built-up Area, the third most populous built-up area in the United Kingdom with a population of 2,440,986 (2011 census).[4] Birmingham's metropolitan area is the United Kingdom's second most populous with 3,683,000 residents.[5]
A medium-sized market town during the medieval period, Birmingham grew to international prominence in the 18th century at the heart of the Midlands Enlightenment and subsequent Industrial Revolution, which saw the town at the forefront of worldwide developments in science, technology and economic organisation, producing a series of innovations that laid many of the foundations of modern industrial society.[6] By 1791 it was being hailed as "the first manufacturing town in the world".[7] Birmingham's distinctive economic profile, with thousands of small workshops practising a wide variety of specialised and highly skilled trades, encouraged exceptional levels of creativity and innovation and provided a diverse and resilient economic base for industrial prosperity that was to last into the final quarter of the 20th century.[8] Its resulting high level of social mobility also fostered a culture of broad-based political radicalism, that under leaders from Thomas Attwood to Joseph Chamberlain was to give it a political influence unparalleled in Britain outside London and a pivotal role in the development of British democracy.[9]
Today Birmingham is a major international commercial centre, ranked as a beta− world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network;[10] and an important transport, retail, events and conference hub. Its metropolitan economy is the second largest in the United Kingdom with a GDP of $114.3bn (2012 est., PPP),[11] and its six universities make it the largest centre of higher education and academic research in the country outside London.[12] Birmingham's major cultural institutions – including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Royal Ballet, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, the Library of Birmingham and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts – enjoy international reputations,[13] and the city has vibrant and influential grassroots art, music, literary and culinary scenes.[14]
People from Birmingham are called 'Brummies', a term derived from the city's nickname of 'Brum'. This originates from the city's dialect name, Brummagem,[15] which may in turn have been derived from one of the city's earlier names, 'Bromwicham'.[16] There is a distinctive Brummie accent and dialect.

IMPORTANT = none of my snowy owl picture has been taken using artificial or living bait. It is only the result of long observation and patience with this lovely bird.
The weather was much better and the snowy owl was always very active looking for food. You can see that this place seems to be his favorite one to observe all around (droppings at the bottom and viscers at the top) . As soon he hears the sound he is looking for...

An important art critic drops by Prohibition to see Timothy Neesam's Enigma in Red series. She comments, “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” Special thanks to Tom Metuzals for the snap.
Allah -The Most High - said: "The month of Ramadhan in which the
Qur’aan was revealed, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the
guidance of the Criterionbetween right and wrong. So whosoever of you
sights the crescent for the month of Ramadhan, he must fast that
month." [Soorah al-Baqarah 2:185].
Allah's Messenger ( sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ) said:
"Islaam is built upon five: Testifying that none has the right to be
worshippedexcept Allah and the Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,
establishing the Prayer, giving the Zakaah performing Hajj to the
House, and lasting in Ramadhan ." [1]
He ( sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ) also said:
"There has come to you Ramadhan , a blessed month, in which Allah has
made it obligatory to fast. During it the gates of Paradise are opened
and the gates of Hellfire are closed, and the rebellious devils are
chained. In it is anight ( Laylatul-Qadr ) which is better than a
thousand months. He who is deprived of its good has truly been
deprived."[2]
From the many important lessons to be learnt from fasting are:
[1]: GAINING TAQWAA
Fasting has been legislatedin order that we may gain taqwaa as Allah -
the Most High - said: "O you who believe! fasting is prescribed for
you, as it was prescribed upon those before you in order that you may
attain taqwaa." [Soorah al-Baqarah 2:183].
Talq ibn Habeeb (d.100H) - rahimahullaah - said:
"When fitnah (trial and tribulation) appears then extinguish it with
taqwaa ." So he was asked as to what taqwaa was, so he replied: "
Taqwaa is to act in obedience to Allah, upon a light (i.e. eemaan ,
faith) from Allah, hoping inthe Mercy of Allah. And taqwaa is leaving
acts of disobedience to Allah, upon a light from Allah, due to the
fear of Allah."[3]
"This is one of the best definitions of taqwaa . For every action must
have both a stating point and a goal. And an action will not be
considered as an act of obedience, or newness to Allah unless it sluts
from pure eemaan (faith in Allah). Thus, it is pure eemaan - and not
habits, desires, nor seekingpraise or fame, nor its flee - that should
be what initiates an action. And thepreparation showed, to earn the
reward of Allah and to seek His good pleasure."[4] So Fasting is a
means of attaining taqwaa , since it helps prevent a person from many
sins that one is prone to. Due to this, the Prophet ( sallAllahu
‘alayhi wa sallam ) said: "Fasting is a shield with which the servant
protects himself from the Fire."[5] So we should ask ourselves, after
each day of fasting: Has this lasting made us more fearful and
obedient to Allah? Has it aided us in distancing ourselves from sins
and disobedience?
[2]: SEEKING NEARNESS TOAllah
The Prophet ( sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ) said:
"Allah said: Whosoever shows enmity to a friend of Mine, I shall be at
war with him. My servant does not draw near to me with anything more
beloved to me than the obligatory duties that I have placed upon him.
My servant continues to draw nearer to Me with optional deeds so that
I shall love him."[6]
The Prophet ( sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam ) said:
"Whosoever reaches the month of Ramadhan and does not have his sins
forgiven, and so enters theFire, then may Allah distance him."[7]
So drawing closer to Allah - the Most Perfect - in this blessed month,
can be achieved by fulfilling one's obligatory duties; and
alsoreciting the Qur’aan and reflecting upon its meanings, increasing
in kindness and in giving charity, in making du‘aa (supplication) to
Allah, attending the Taraaweeh Prayer, seeking out Laylatul-Qadr (the
Night of Power and Pre-Decree), a night which is better than a
thousand months, attending gatherings of knowledge, and striving
inthose actions that will cause the heart to draw closer to its lard
and to gain His forgiveness. Our level of striving in this blessed
month should be greater than our striving to worship Allah in any
other month, due to the excellence and rewards that Allah has placed
in it. Likewise from the great means of seeking nearnessto Allah in
this month is making I‘tikaaf (seclusion in the mosque in order to
worship Allah) - for whoever is able.

A cathedral without a bishop: St. Stephan in Vienna
In order to fully fulfill the function of a capital in its medieval understanding, Vienna lacked a decisive factor: Vienna was indeed a major city, but not the seat of a bishopric, but was subordinate to the Prince-Bishop of Passau in ecclesiastical matters. St. Stephen, the most important church in the city, had only the rank of a parish church.
Therefore, the first attempts to found a diocese in Vienna date back to the time of the Babenbergs. Also the under Ottokar II Přemysl after the fire of 1258 begun generous new building of the Saint Stephen's church in the late Romanesque style pursued this goal.
The Habsburgs' representational aspirations also focused on St. Stephen after they had taken control of Austria. Albrecht I began in 1304 with the construction of a new choir. The highlight, however, was reached under Duke Rudolf IV. This ambitious Habsburg wanted to turn Vienna into an important royal residence and St. Stephen as the "Capella regia Austriaca" into the court church of the Austrian sovereign princes, the sacral center of the country.
The background for this lay in the competition with the dynasty of Luxembourg: Emperor Charles IV was just about to expand his residence Prague to a metropolis of European importance. One of his measures was the elevation of Prague to the Archbishopric of 1344, which prompted the great expansion of St. Vitus' Cathedral on Prague's Hradcany.
Rudolf's plan to make St. Stephen the seat of a bishop failed because of the resistance of Passau, because the bishop rightly feared a reduction of his diocese. Nevertheless, Rudolf found a way to give St. Stephan a special rank. In 1359 he obtained the papal confirmation for the founding of a collegiate, an association of 24 dressed in cardinal red robes priests, which was headed by a provost in a bishop-like costume. By subordinating the collegiate directly to the Pope, it was beyond the Passau influence. Thanks to complicated ecclesiastical chess moves he finally succeeded in 1365 to transfer his foundation to St. Stephen, which increased the importance of the church.
This was also reflected in the structural design of the church. In 1359 Rudolf IV began with a large-scale expansion, which was to bear all the symbols of a ruling church: a princely gallery above the west portal was framed by two-storey Duke's chapels, in which the relic treasure was kept. A princely tomb was erected as the tomb of the rulers of the country and finally four towers were planned, which was actually a building prerogative of a bishop's church. By integrating parts of the late Romanesque predecessor building (the main portal and the westwork called "Giant Gate") into his concept, Rudolf gave his building program historical depth.
With the death of Rudolf, the interest of the Habsburgs in St. Stephen palpably came to an end, and the citizens of Vienna took the initiative for the further expansion of the church. Only with Frederick III., who saw his example in Rudolf IV, did a Habsburg take part in the expansion of the church. Friedrich ordered the beginning of the work on the north tower. However, his high tomb in the Apostle Choir of the Dome, which is another notable example of the dynastic program of the Habsburgs in the late Middle Ages, is particularly reminiscent of this Habsburg.
Frederick III. finally managed to bring the prestige matter of his ancestor Rudolf to a successful end: 1469 Frederick III succeeded in to bring about the Pope to elevate Vienna to a diocese. Although the Viennese diocese initially had only a minimal extension - it was smaller than the current urban area - but the Habsburgs had imposed their own will: The Cathedral of St. Stephen had finally a bishop.

William Livingstone was an important public spirited citizen of Detroit in the early 1900's. He was a bank President but is best known as the President of The Lakes Carriers Association from 1902 to his death in 1925. He was the driving force for enlarging the Soo Canal by adding additional locks, thus enhancing ship traffic from Lake Superior to Lake Huron.
The lighthouse was a memorial built in 1930 with private funds and stands on the eastern tip of the Belle Island Park located on the Detroit River. The 50 foot tall square fluted tower is made of marble, the only one in the U.S., and is an active lighthouse with a light signal of a white flash every 4 seconds.

Oh, yeah. This is my new Flickr banner, let meh know what you think. Also, I guess this'll count as my Pic of the Day for today, since I forgot earlier...
So I was going through photos and rotating them upright when I accidentally rotated the wrong way. I rotated the image -270 degrees instead of 90, which destroyed the image.
In "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" it has a horrendous time rotating images with color profiles other than sRGB. What's more, it automatically re-saves the image for you making all damage terminal.
I did some quick testing. The original file in the center was taken in Adobe RGB on camera. I cropped it in Photoshop, which is set to automatically use and embed Adobe RGB. So what I did was save different versions of the file then rotate them with WPFV. sRBG didn't have much of an effect so I rotated it 360 degrees 8 times, whereas the others are rotated one revolution. On the sRGB you can see extra amounts of noise, but the colors aren't as damaged. On the lower left I saved the original file (Adobe RGB) without embedding a profile, which appears to be the worst of the lot.
So.... don't use that program to rotate. Irreparable color harm will plague you. Lightroom seems to be pretty quick about it. Drop a note if you know if a safe way to rotate pictures as easily as WPFV.

Why Your Annual Eye Exam Is so Important for your eye health
The first Exhaustive eye exam should be done on children when they start school, even if they are not experiencing symptoms and do not show any signs that they are not seeing well. A child can not complain about poor vision, because at his age he may not realize he is not seeing well. Searching for lasik eye surgery Michigan can be challenging, a Michigan eye surgery specialist at the Yaldo Eye center can help you with any questions or concerns you may have about lasik.
There are patients who come for the first time to an eye examination at age 35 and have a completely unusable eye due to untreated amblyopia, an eye disorder that prevents vision from developing properly during the first years of childhood.
This is an example of why it is imperative to start undergoing eye examinations as a child and continue throughout the school years and into adulthood, even if no visual symptoms are experienced. Another example is a person who has glaucoma. Glaucoma may not have symptoms until the vision is completely lost. An early diagnosis considerably improves the prognosis of this disease.
Annual eye exams are critical to your health
Anyone who begins to experience vision difficulties, either while using a computer or reading a book, should undergo an eye exam. An adult without vision problems should undergo a comprehensive eye exam every two years even if they have not experienced any visual symptoms. Adults who wear glasses or contact lenses or who have a problem with their eyes should have an eye exam annually.
A patient who has a systemic problem that can affect the eyes, such as diabetes, inflammatory disease, or uncontrolled hypertension, should undergo an eye exam every year. Sometimes, diabetics need to control their eyes more than once a year, perhaps two or three times a year, depending on the control of their blood sugar levels.
What kind of tests includes a complete eye exam?
A comprehensive eye exam is made up of many different tests. The first step is to do a good interrogation to create the clinical history: to determine which is the main condition and why the patient has come to undergo an eye examination. Then, we perform two initial tests which consist of measurements of visual acuity. These tests require the patient to read letters from an eye chart attached to the wall (for distance vision) and a text from a sheet held in the hand (for near vision), both with and without glasses or lenses. Contact. If you or a loved one is searching for lasik eye surgery Michigan, look no further than the Yaldo eye center.
Then we will go to the objective part of the ocular examination, in which the ophthalmologist will obtain information that does not depend on the patient’s answers. For example, the doctor will examine the retina, the cornea, the eye movements (it is evaluated by having the patient follow the movement of an object with the eyes.) This ensures that the muscles related to the movement of the eyes and the parts of the brain that control those muscles work correctly), intraocular pressure (using a device called applanation tonometer just touch the surface of the eye and measures the pressure of the fluid inside the eye), pupillary reflexes (is checked by tracking the behavior of the pupil in response This tests how the individual pupil responds to light, and it ensures that both pupils respond to light in tandem), etc.
The ophthalmologist will examine the ocular structures through a biomicroscope, a device that has very bright lenses and lights through which the doctor looks to see the anterior, middle and posterior part of the eye. If necessary, the ophthalmologist can apply drops to the patient’s eye to dilate the pupils, which allows the ophthalmologist to evaluate not only the central part of the retina but also the peripheral area. Here at the Yaldo eye center, we are transparent about lasik eye surgery cost, speak with a Michigan laser eye surgery specialist at our clinic today!
Finally, the doctor will propose a therapeutic plan based on the findings obtained. For example, it may be necessary for the patient to wear glasses, or to undergo Michigan eye surgery.

For Flickr pal Wendy....on the left is former Indonesian president Megawati Sukarnoputri. I took her pic in the Jakarta Convention Center years ago. On the right is the ex-wife of former Philippine president Estrada, Senator Luisa Ejercito. She was visiting various Makati hotels (including mine) to see the Christmas decorations...again, several years ago.

The antenna farm atop Mount Wilson a ridge close to 6000 feet high, overlooking Los Angeles. All of the area's TV stations and nearly all of its FM stations transmit from here. Line-of-sight is what matters most on the TV and FM bands, and the horizon from this elevation is about 92 miles away. And while there are many higher peaks in the San Gabriel Mountains, Mt. Wilson has the best view toward the largest populations of people in the basins and valleys below.
At the base of this shot is the Mount Wilson Observatory, historically one of the most important in the world, and still a very active and exciting site for scientific discovery.

n what was probably the least enjoyable game to watch this season, for many reasons, the important fact was that Longridge prevailed and left Turton with all 3 points to return to the top of the West Lancashire League Premier Division.
In a week where West Lancs games have been postponed, and ordered to be replayed after 87 minutes, both sides agreed to play the match over two halves of 40 minutes each.
On a difficult surface, in extremely windy conditions, Turton played to a rigid game plan and the referee struggled to impose his authority from very early on in the game. The tactic however proved successful as, without troubling Lee Dovey in the Town goal, they made it to half time without conceding, nor looking particularly troubled by Town's superior possession.
Crowd favourite Joe Melling had returned to the Longridge side after a recent head injury, and he had a headed half chance at the far post after a Brad Carsley cross that unfortunately came to nothing. In a sign of things to come Town complained that Melling had been stamped on by the Turton keeper, but their appeals came to nothing.
Manager Lee Ashcroft's frustration at both his own side's efforts, and the lack of protection shown to his players by the referee, was obvious as the side's went in 0-0 at half time after exactly 40 minutes.
Longridge now had the strong wind at their backs, and Jack Preston (pictured) was introduced at half time in place of the unfortunate Conor Linighan, whose neat skilful style was not suited to the playing surface. Town were now lined up in a 3-5-2 formation with Preston joining leading scorer Brad Carsley up front.
Carsley and Preston linked well as Town went a little more direct and, after good work from Carsley, Preston stabbed the ball home with 20 minutes remaining to finally give Town the lead that their superiority deserved. In the aftermath however, the Turton keeper clearly punched Ash Ball and was given a straight red card leaving the Home side down to ten men. 0-1 to Town.
This should have resulted in Longridge going on to win the game comfortably, but this wasn't the case as Turton arguably played better with 10 men than 11. However, with Man of the Match Ged Smith controlling play at the back for Town, Lee Dovey was never troubled, and at the other end Longridge failed to test the outfield replacement goalkeeper as the light faded, and the elusive second goal never came, nor was it needed.
As the referee blew the whistle to end a particularly frustrating game, Mark Woods was shown a red card, presumably for something he said after the game had ended. Who knows....it was that kind of game!
After the match Manager Lee Ashcroft was rightly just pleased that his side were leaving with 3 points, " I've not a lot to say really. I suppose the cliche is that you need to win games like that if you are going to win League titles, but there is not a lot of satisfaction aside from that. I feel for my lads because they've worked hard with everything against them tonight, in very difficult circumstances, and I'm just delighted to get out of here with the 3 points. We've no game on Saturday, nor have Turton, so maybe we could have played the game at the weekend, I don't know. It's 3 points and I'll draw a line under it."
