Imported Fruit
In the 1960's Turkish immigrants began flowing into the Netherlands to
satisfy the region's high labor demand. Accepted into country under
the pretenses that their presence would be temporary, once the
... immigration program was terminated in 1973, many of the remaining
Turkish laborers became isolated from their Dutch neighbors.
Differences in religion and economic standing have made assimilation
into the contemporary Dutch culture difficult. The halved fig emulates
the crescent in the Turkish flag was applied on the wall of the former
Aya Sofya mosque. The text reads, imported fruit in Turkish and faces

L’importateur et marchand de dry goods (tissus, mercerie et autres produits) Andrew Macfarlane fait construire ce magasin-entrepôt en 1863-1864, sur un emplacement qu’il a acquis huit ans plus tôt avec une maison-magasin et un entrepôt. Voué au commerce et à l’entreposage, le nouvel immeuble est occupé jusqu’en 1868 par Andrew Marfarlane & Company, administrés par Andrew et Robert Macfarlane.
L’immeuble servira principalement au commerce et à l’entreposage jusqu’à nos jours sans subir de transformations majeures. Possédé par John Pratt et sa succession de 1869 à 1931, il est l’hôte jusqu’en 1918 des importateurs de thés John Duncan & Company. Il est ensuite brièvement occupé par un marchand de fourrures. L’entreprise Stanway & Hutchins Limited s’en porte acquéreur en 1931 et y établit son commerce en gros de thés et de cafés pendant vingt ans. Au début des années 1950, le bâtiment abrite six occupants différents desquels se démarquent les agents manufacturiers J.S. Parkes Limited. Cette firme achète en 1956 l’immeuble qu’elle occupe seule des années 1960 à 1975. Depuis lors et encore en 2005, Cenco Import Company Limited, importateur de jouets et d’accessoires décoratifs, en est le propriétaire-occupant.
Fico feliz em também ser um pedacinho importante da vida dos meus pedacinhos importantes de vida. Foi pensando nisso que ontem, no meu aniversário, eu providenciei cupcakes, um para cada amigo, para que comemorássemos juntos o meu aniversário. Cada um soprou uma das velinhas por que achei injusto soprá-las sozinho, já que cada um é tão importante assim. E também não teve aquilo de primeiro pedaço; todo mundo merecia o primeiro pedaço, e todo mundo ganhou o seu.
Cupcakes são lindos. Com esse significado eles também se tornaram inesquecíveis. Dedico a foto aos amigos que estiveram aqui e também aos que gostariam de ter vindo mas por motivo ou outro não puderam. :)

This wall is located in the Barrio Barracas, which grew in the early 18th century due to its port. One of the main imports were cattle from Spain. This area grew in the 19th century and was populated mainly by the rich until 1871 when there was a yellow fever epidemic which forced the rich to flee Barracas to the north.

Import Specialist Auto Repair & Smog

A few weeks ago, I discovered a peculiar similarity in many of the hand-painted signs in northerly Sacramento neighborhoods such as Del Paso Heights. Apparently, this sign painter has some sort of OCD about punctuating even sentence fragments on signs with periods. In just the last few days, I recognized his signature punctuation on several other signs throughout the city, even on the south side. With this batch of pics, I have begun to document this painter's work.
Macias Imports Inc is a family-owned business of Mexican dried spices and goods, and they came to me about a year ago to develop their new identity, business card and other collateral material. And recently, they came back to me to develop the face of their very first website. I was honored and excited to expand the look of their brand to the world wide web. I have only been working on the website for a month now, and it's still in concept phase as I build out and design the rest of the subpages, but at least you can get a glimpse of the progress that I have made thus far.
Like their logo and for the website, I wanted to embrace the warmth, textures and the Mexican culture while still keeping it clean and contemporary in design so the visual brand lasts over time.
On the Homepage, the main image rotates between three images so it's not so static. Between the motion of the images and the visually colorful graphics, it's simple but artfully done. The website is going to be all html, no flash, so it's easy for the user to view the website from a hand held smartphone or iPad.
The Product page is definitely the most interactive but easily maneuverable for the user. When you rollover any of the products in the main image, on the righthand side, the product information pops up.
There is still a ton more work to do to finesse all the fine details of this website project, but at least the visual concept is done and approved by the client so I can begin talking to the programmer to get this website live and active! Stay tuned on the progress of this client project.

A bunch of us, Sean, Ailing, Weilan, Brian, Shiwen popped by EXPO to take a peek before heading off to 2am:dessetbar. We were running short on time and left within the hour. I am pretty sure all the guys didn't mind staying longer. Hehe.
Super Import Nights – The Ultimate Motorshow is notably the biggest and only tuner car show in Singapore that is returning for the third successive year. It has the characteristics of the Tokyo Autosalon as well as the virtues of Hot Import Nights (USA).
