L’importateur et marchand de dry goods (tissus, mercerie et autres produits) Andrew Macfarlane fait construire ce magasin-entrepôt en 1863-1864, sur un emplacement qu’il a acquis huit ans plus tôt avec une maison-magasin et un entrepôt. Voué au commerce et à l’entreposage, le nouvel immeuble est occupé jusqu’en 1868 par Andrew Marfarlane & Company, administrés par Andrew et Robert Macfarlane.
L’immeuble servira principalement au commerce et à l’entreposage jusqu’à nos jours sans subir de transformations majeures. Possédé par John Pratt et sa succession de 1869 à 1931, il est l’hôte jusqu’en 1918 des importateurs de thés John Duncan & Company. Il est ensuite brièvement occupé par un marchand de fourrures. L’entreprise Stanway & Hutchins Limited s’en porte acquéreur en 1931 et y établit son commerce en gros de thés et de cafés pendant vingt ans. Au début des années 1950, le bâtiment abrite six occupants différents desquels se démarquent les agents manufacturiers J.S. Parkes Limited. Cette firme achète en 1956 l’immeuble qu’elle occupe seule des années 1960 à 1975. Depuis lors et encore en 2005, Cenco Import Company Limited, importateur de jouets et d’accessoires décoratifs, en est le propriétaire-occupant.

La antigua Mezquita de Córdoba, convertida en el siglo XIII en la actual Catedral de Santa María de Córdoba, constituye el monumento más importante de Córdoba, y también de toda la arquitectura andalusí, junto con la Alhambra.
Construida a partir del siglo VIII sobre la basílica de San Vicente visigoda, fue objeto de ampliaciones durante el Califato de Córdoba, y tras la conquista cristiana en 1236 fue convertida en catedral, para lo que se realizaron modificaciones, las más sustanciales y polémicas en 1523, cuando la parte central de la antigua sala de oración se transformó con los criterios propios de la arquitectura del Renacimiento.
Con 23.400 metros cuadrados, fue la segunda mezquita más grande del mundo en superficie, por detrás de la Mezquita de la Meca, siendo sólo alcanzada posteriormente por la Mezquita Azul (Estambul, 1588) y la Mezquita Hassan II (Casablanca, 1993, de 2,3 hectáreas -23.000 metros cuadrados-).
Es uno de los espacios turísticos más visitados y se le ha considerado el primero de los doce tesoros españoles.
