The Immigration Station on Angel Island was completed in 1910. This was where many Chinese immigrants were processed and detained before being allowed into the US mainland. Due to the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, only 105 Chinese immigrants were allowed into the US each year, continuing until 1943. This number did not include "paper sons and daughters."
