I saw this image at a flea market and the view from the portrayed person had appealed to me.

That's why I asked the dealer if it would be a painting or a print.

She replied that it had been common in the early 20th century to combine photographic portraits of people with painted clothes. With this technic in pictures you could be every person you always wanted to be - or people would like to see in you.

If anyone recognizes the boy, the image or the photographer, please contact me.

I final image for a Image Manipulation project in my first year of my ND course. I think this image is dynamic due to the different characters being portrayed by the same person. I think replication the manipulation in the mirror makes the image more convincing.

I try and better expose the window to the left as it has been over exposed and bleached out since the main exposure would of been taken of the room itself.

This is a great front cover. The graphic that denotates surfers was probably created using some sort of image manipulation tool such as photo shop to rearrange their positions in the image. The connotations may be of being cool and full of life. The univeruity in question is very close to the beach (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl) and has taken advantage of this and by using the image of surfers takes its connotations and invertently applies them to the university e.g. say the university is cool and full of life. House-style comes into play as the blue blue from the wet suits has been used lightly around the page and on the "M" in the masthead. The colour of the sand has also been taken and used as the main background instead of the usual beach skyline. The importance of togetherness in a page is illustraed well by this front cover. The skyline may have made a great picture but it may have been difficult to use beacuse of the mix of colours. The plain background using the colour of the sand creates an amazing effect. Besides the image the layout of the magazine cover is quite simple, with only one lure and two coverlines. The font type used is a sans-serif so again the magazine connotates being laid back, cool, full of life etc. The graphics used for the magazine cover very simple using straight smooth lines which do not do elaborate flicks or extravegant lines which again connotates being laid back and relaxed.
