Cropped as suggested by taylorkoa22. He's right, its better.

One detail that bugs, bugs, bugs, is that electrical tape around that conduit in the back. It's one of the darkest values in the picture and really distracts me. To crop it out, though, crops her leg, leaving it a black line running straight into the corner. It's the kind of thing the Clone tool is made for in image manipulation software, I guess. Noticing those things as I'm taking the picture is I think a real key to improvement.

Thanks, taylorkoa22!

Reethi Beach, our first visit back to the Maldives since we dipped our toes into the water so to speak in 1996 to Thudufushi. After getting some more experience diving in the UK and on a couple of trips to Thailand I decided that warm water diving was for me, and there is no easier diving in the world than on the Maldives. The islands are usually quite small so after breakfast you just wander down to the Dive Centre, the staff will have put all your dive gear on the boat, all you have to do is turn up and go diving!

I would say Reethi Beach is at the budget end of Maldivian islands but as with most islands whatever level you are at it can be enough. Just being in the Maldives is enough, the whole vibe is just amazing. I guess the worst bit for us was the room, the tin roof was pretty noisy when it rained and there we had some scurrying furry creatures in the roof that can keep you awake at night. A good dive and snorkelling island though and there are a lot of repeaters here who love this place.....then again there are repeaters on every island!

I have started using a more impressionistic style to my photographs lately, I try to bring out the feeling of the place by varying the post processing effects that I use. To be honest I find it absolutely amazing what can be pulled from a pretty poor image these days by utilising current image manipulation techniques. The only slight problem is it takes time, something none of us have enough of, but I must say the final results are well worth the effort.

The thing we love the most about Maldives holidays is the mornings.....without a doubt the best time of the day. We are up at dawn for a run around the island and to see the sun come up. We usually have the whole island to ourselves at this time of day, it's just so calm and peaceful. Then it's into the bathwater temperature ocean for a snorkel before a well earned breakfast.....the best meal of the day.

The climate is perfect this time of year, you just have to put up with a few stray showers. For a chill out holiday the temperatures are absolutely perfect in the Maldives, around 30 degrees, day and night. The evenings are slightly balmy.....perfect for the tee shirt, shorts and the 'no news no shoes' uniform of the Maldives. Even the water is 30 degrees.....and it is the same 30 metres down, maybe dipping to 28 degrees on a cool day. This area of the world is just stunning, there is nowhere else like it. Absolute heaven!

My 300th Image! I wanted the milestone to be a 'circle' image! ;-)

I keep getting caught up in the industrial, yet futuristic, nature of the original 'seed' image ,,uploaded by EOS1954

www.flickr.com/photos/55096959@N00/113594241/

for the WET Challenge Thread :

www.flickr.com/groups/amazingcircles/discuss/720575940837...

of the Amazing Circles Group:

www.flickr.com/groups/amazingcircles/

The initial 'craft' was made using a 'circle' of the base layer, which was, itself, created using three sections of the seed image, combined with another image.

This one wound up with 26 layers, before it was done.. adding another element from the First seed for the Challenges,

www.flickr.com/groups/amazingcircles/discuss/166266/ ,

as well as layers just for the 'down lights' , etc under and within the 'craft'.

The craft occured to me because I 'circle' the rectangle, instead of cropping to a square, first..

when I want a round circle, I then scale it to a square after the process.

In this case, the oblong just 'screamed' vehicle, of Some sort.

More could be done, but my eyes are Quite irritated enough, thank you, for One night.

Some additions... with image manipulation.

... brought to me by my cousin, Frank, after my twinned blossom calla shots.. thought I'd like another 'photo of the weird'. ;-)

This is a playful image manifulation of the very fine photo by flickr member eagle.ffm1, who takes wonderous travel photos all over the world. This amazing circle is taken from the largest size he uploaded to flickr, and used the eyes of a great wall mural and all the graffiti on it, from Berlin. Please take a look at my favorite flickr photo of this week, here.

At The South Carolina State Fair. Looks like its going extremely fast. Much faster than it actually was.

Some good news for the day. It was worth taking the day off for this. :-)

I removed some of the personal identification data using the GIMP (Graphical Image Manipulation Program) 2, in case anyone is wondering about the blank spaces....

I think this one turned out how I pictured it. I thought it was quite a fun idea... a bit more image manipulation than usual.

Another in the series of last-light of day on my Calla Lillies. For this one, I put the basic image through some HDR variations, then combined two of those, via layers and masking in Adobe Photoshop CS2. There was a Lot of noise, enhanced over-the-top by the HDR process, which I softened in two extreme passes with CS2's noise reduction filter. Then I flipped the whole thing horizontally, so that the light passes from left to right.

yre is a tool for producing computational artwork based on histograms of iterated chaotic functions. At the moment, it implements the Peter de Jong map in a fixed-function pipeline with an interactive GTK+ frontend and a command line interface for easy and efficient rendering of high-resolution, high quality images.

This program was previously known as 'de Jong Explorer', but has been renamed to make way for supporting other chaotic functions.

All the images you can create with this program are based on the simple Peter de Jong map equations:

x' = sin(a * y) - cos(b * x)

y' = sin(c * x) - cos(d * y)

For most values of a,b,c and d the point (x,y) moves chaotically. The resulting image is a map of the probability that the point lies within the area represented by each pixel. As you let Fyre render longer it collects more samples and this probability map and the image becomes more accurate.

The resulting probability map is treated as a High Dynamic Range image. This software includes some image manipulation features that let you apply linear interpolation and gamma correction at the full internal precision, producing a much higher quality image than if you tried to create the same effects using standard image processing tools. Additionally, Gaussian blurs can be applied to the image using a stochastic process that produces much more natural-looking images than most programs, again without losing any of the image's original precision.

Robin (Erithacus rubecula)

This baby Robin was being fed by his parent (Friendly Little Fellow) in the picnic area at Titchwell. You can see that its red breast has not yet developed.

I love the awesome detail in this picture, the light and perfect exposure togther with the Bokeh background.

I took this as a raw image to capture all the detail then converted to JPEG to upload to Flickr. (No image manipulation here other than a slight crop) It is definatey one of my favourite bird compositions.
