Sydney was having a romping good time in the backyard with her sister Addy and was just taking a break here. As you can see the backyard is their territory from the remnants of destruction in the background.
Beauregard is a red leopard Catahoula who’s 7 years old. “He was about 8 months old in this picture (taken in New Orleans, his first home) and had just done something he should not have,” says his dog dad, Michael. He is mild mannered and well behaved now, but as a puppy he was extremely mischievous. But that guilt in his eyes gave him away every time!”
Cooper, a 2-year-old yellow Lab, had a rough start in life with stomach issues, but his dog dad Sid said he is doing much better now. In fact, Sid said Cooper is “developing into a beautiful vibrant young male that I think is half duck. I could not keep him out of the water if I tried. If we could get paid for playing, we'd be rich.”
Lily, a 4-year-old Standard Poodle-Australian Shepherd mix, had been bought from a breeder, obedience trained and then dumped at a high-kill shelter, where she was rescued just before she was scheduled to be euthanized. “She is a wonderful dog and a treasured member of our family," says her dog mom, Susan. "She is super playful, will fetch a ball and play tug of war. We can't imagine our lives without her.”
As he made his way through PetSmart last year to pick up food for his Beagle, Tyler saw “these puppy eyes that were saying ‘Please take me home,’” he recalls. “The adoption place said she was a Collie mix. Being only 19 and still living at home, I had to call my father, who’s a police officer and a very strict man, and tell him to come to the store.” When Tyler’s dad arrived, it was love at first sight. “Holly’s eyes were so devastatingly persuasive that my dad had to get her,” Tyler says. “Holly now uses those eyes to get anything she wants. Anything. Holly has always been there for me and listens to everything I tell her. She’s way more than just a dog, she's a friend.”
Cotton is a 3-year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu mix. “When you look into them you feel something special, a warm feeling that makes you want to smile,” says his pet parent, Leketa. “Cotton is special because he suffers from a bubble in his eye that requires surgery to remove it. He leaves a special memory in everyone's heart with just a simple wag of his tail.”
