Second in my PRETTY LADY series. Inspired by some back issues of Domino, my old Erinyes print, and the Etsy Finds email I get.
I think I'm going to order both this and the Tricky Eyes (peacock lady one) illo as prints, one to send to art directors as a thank you and one to sell. Which would you prefer to own? I will choose based on popular opinion, since I like 'em both too much to play favorites!
All sizes to make pretty.

Easter egg: Long time fans of my work may sort of recognize this deer. I drew it for one of my first illustrations here; but it is based on a Christmas ornament my sister and I love from our childhood. I'm thinking about making a holiday pattern with that deer next. Crazy to see how my style's evolved though! Four years is a long time.

My buddy Lauren (whom some of you know from the interweb as a super awesome illustrator and animator-- one half of Kangaroo Alliance!) commissioned me to make a portrait of her and her fella (and their animal friends!) surrounded by favorite things in the vein of a portrait I did for Paste not too long ago-- I was only too happy to comply.
I'm especially psyched because I did this illustration in a totally different way than usual, which really helped to streamline the process and let me focus more on the shapes and textures and shadows than I usually have time to do. Now working on images I drew the old way is a struggle! I can't wait to experiment and play more.
(PS: is it obvious I need a real blog? I don't have one anymore and now I'm just writing litanies on Flickr. Whoops)
I got asked by DGPH to contribute to a book of animals called the ARK (more details here--it debuted in Argentina this weekend)- basically everyone got to do an animal from their home country. When I got to it, buffalo/bison was left. I've never seen a buffalo in person-- to be fair I'm an Easterner at heart. But it was fun to draw anyway. (I made this before May at some point, but don't remember when since the ol' computer died then...)

I took a photo of my shoulder and then with graphics tablet and photoshop I drew this tatoo.

Por encima del lugar, accesible por un sendero, se encuentran las ruinas de un castillo donde en el siglo XII fue tenido preso el rey Ricardo I de Inglaterra.
Dürnstein is a city of 900 inhabitants in Lower Austria. It is one of the tourist destinations of the Wachau region. It is a wine production center. Above the place, accessible by a path, are the ruins of a castle where King Richard I of England was held prisoner in the 12th century.

Cover illustration for Earlhamite Magazine, the alumni magazine for Earlham College. They were redesigning their magazine, but also looking to theme their issues around the many levels of diversity they have and look to have in the future.
Had a lot of fun with this one, yep! Many thanks to my client for letting me try a more metaphorical, less literal approach and trusting in my abilities!

Full disclosure: giraffes were my favoritest animal ever as a kid! So I turned that love into puzzle patterns and fruit for the warmer months. I'm reworking this puzzle giraffe into a screenprint too.
In (one of) my other life(s) I'm an illusttrator. And yesterday I finished the illo's for Arcade cabinet 2 & 3 of an ongoing series. Whaddaya think?

Restauration effectuée en 2002 à la demande du président de l'associotion le Moulin Vert, par Pierre Berriot.
A l'origine ce cadran devait être magnifique. Cet établissement a subi un grave incendie au début du siècle dernier, le cadran a été endommagé.
En l'absence de documents antérieurs à cet incendie, les calculs ont été refaits par Pierre Berriot à partir des tracés visibles sur la table.
Des restes d'arcs de déclinaison étaient portés. Le style ayant disparu, il a fabriqué un nouveau style avec œilleton pour que la lecture de ces arcs puissent se faire. Il n'a pas été retouché aux indications portées.

So I gave it another go on the pig illo. We'll see if they like this one. Definitely less scary. I think it would make a good new year card.

These little ones are inspired on the Prince Karel (Carl) drawing made by Fiep Westendorp. His hat is all the way down to his nose, wich I like, but I didn't do that myself. Dunno why I didn't do that, but never the less they turned out ok I think.
