We celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied and multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

Der Grindelwald - Fieschergletscher ist ein Gletscher in den Berner Alpen im Kanton

Bern in der Schweiz. Sein Teilabschnitt Oberes Eismeer ( Gemäss Karte Swisstopo

Obers Ischmeer ) ist namensgebend für die S.tation Eismeer der J.ungfraubahn.

Höchster Punkt des Gletschers ist der M.önch mit 4'107 m Höhe. Bei ungefähr 1'600 m

ist sein tiefster Punkt.

Er liegt südöstlich der Massive von E.iger und M.önch sowie nördlich des Verbindungs-

kammes von M.önch - M.assiv und F.iescherhorn - M.assiv. Im O.sten begrenzen P.faffe-

s.tecki und Z.äsenberg den Gletscher. Nach N.orden fliesst der Grindelwald - Fiescher-

gletscher in den U.nteren G.rindelwaldgletscher.

Er hat seinen Ursprung am G.ipfel des M.önchs und fliesst in n.ordöstlicher Richtung

zwischen W.alchergrat und E.iger - S.üdgrat hindurch. Im Anschluss geht die glatte

O.berfläche in einen zerklüfteten Gletscherbruch über.

Dieser Teil heisst Oberes Eismeer ( Gemäss Karte Swisstopo Obers Ischmeer ). An

dessen Ende fliesst von N.orden der C.hallifirn in den Fieschergletscher. Ab hier ist

der Gletscher zweigeteilt. Unterhalb des E.iger - M.ittellegigrates ist die Oberfläche relativ

geglättet, während auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite, unterhalb von W.alchergrat und

F.iescherwand die Zerklüftung anhält. Zwischen Z.äsenberg und „B.im g.andigen P.fad“

erreicht der Gletscher den U.nteren G.rindelwaldgletscher.

Ein Problem stellt die Namensgebung dar. Der Grindelwald - Fieschergletscher darf

nicht mit dem Fieschergletscher auf der S.üdostseite des F.iescherhorn - G.rünhorn-

M.assivs verwechselt werden. Dieser ist der richtige Fieschergletscher. Das Bundes-

amt für Landestopografie will aber auf absehbare Zeit den Grindelwald - Fiescher-

gletscher mit Eismeer bezeichnen

und dem grossen F.iescherhorn ( BE/VS - 4`049m ) und dem M.ittellegigrat gegen den

E.iger ( BE - 3`970m )

Mitten in dieser G.letscherwelt konnte am 25. Juli 1905 die Aussichtsstation in 3`159m

Höhe in der S.üdwand des E.iger eröffnet werden. Die Station E.ismeer blieb während

sieben Jahren E.ndstation der J.ungfraubahn, bevor 1912 das J.ungfraujoch erreicht

werden konnte.

Früher konnte von hier mit den S.kiern nach G.rindelwald gefahren werden. Leider haben

sich die E.ismassen des unteren G.rindelwaldgletschers in den letzten Jahren dermassen

zurückgebildet dass diese Tour nur noch sehr schwer zu bewältigen ist.

Für mich persöhnlich ist die Station E.ismeer der schönste A.ussichtspunkt beim Besuch

des J.ungfraujoch. Normalerweise hält der letzte Z.ug auf`s J.ungfraujoch des Tages bei

dieser S.tation nicht mehr an.

The Eisemeer Station is one of the two view points in the c.hunnel between E.igergletscher

and the Station J.ungfraujoch / Top of Europe in Switzerland.

E.ismeer => Arctic Ocean - The name of this station could not be more accurate.

In crashes houses a broad flowing ice the lower G.rindelwald g.lacier. Surrounded,

the Arctic Ocean by the Alpine peaks W.etterhorn ( BE - 3 `701m ) - S.chreckhorn

( BE - 4` 078m ) - L.auteraarhorn ( BE - 4 `042m ) and the b.ig F.iescherhorn

( BE / VS - 4` 049m ), and against the M.ittellegi - ridge to the E.iger ( BE - 3 `970m )

Right in the middle of this g.lacier world was on 25 July 1905 the lookout station at 3 `159m

altitude opened. The station remained Arctic Ocean during seven years terminus of the

J.ungfrau - R.ailway before in 1912 J.ungfraujoch was achieved.

Previously could from here with the skis to G.rindelwald driven. Unfortunately, the ice

masses of the l.ower G.rindelwald g.lacier in the last few years went back that this tour

just very difficult to cope.

For me, the station is the most beautiful view while visiting the J.ungfraujoch.

Beware, the last train on `s J.ungfraujoch holds most of the day at this station no more
