This pretty one is the Garden Spider, sometimes called the Orb Weaver or the Cross Spider!
He'd spun a web reaching across the steps up to my pond, so rather than disturb him, I quickly snapped him for my picture of the day, and retreated back indoors! :)

I had great fun trying to photograph this cute little jumping spider this afternoon!
He seemed to be able to preempt me pressing the shutter, and did a little jump just before I took every shot!
I eventually got a couple of sharp shots by putting the camera into continuous shutter release mode, and fired off the shutter in machine gun fashion!
Then there was no escape! :)

It was forecast heavy snowfall for today, but it turned out to be a beautiful sunny day!
I made the most of it by trying to grab a few garden bird shots!
Of course, I had the wrong lens attached when this little robin came by, but he obligingly hopped a bit closer so I could snap him with my macro lens! :)
At last, my chilli plants are coming into fruit!
I've never had problems growing chilli plants before, but this year, out of the original 24 seedlings I started with, only two have matured to this stage!
I can't complain though as it's been a good year for everything else I've tried growing! :)

This little beauty is called calibrachoa sunshine! It's a trailing plant that looks rather like a small petunia, but isn't one!
It has been in full bloom now for over a month, and should continue to do so well into September as long as I look after it!
This means you'll probably be seeing it again later on in the project! :)

My Project 52 group theme for Week 42 is The Blur.
Well, I had a million and one ideas this week for the theme, but unfortunately I didn't have time to implement any of them!
So, I'm going with this one, of some bokeh, err, blurry cotoneaster berries! :)

There were lots of these tiny flies buzzing around what remains of the yarrow plants today!
I had to take quite a few shots to be sure I'd got one in focus as they were zooming around between plants every couple of seconds, and were a devil to keep in the frame!
I know he's not much to look at, but I'm actually quite pleased with this one! :)

I had a trip to the garden centre this morning, to see if I could see some plants that would brighten up my garden over the approaching autumn period.
I was snapping away with my iPhone at potential purchases, when this little hoverfly flew over my shoulder and landed on this rose, just as I had it nicely framed!
It must have been fate! So how could I resist posting it as my shot of the day? Especially in my month of Insects theme? :)

These flowers really are tiny - each one is only a couple of millimetres across! The whole flower head is only between two and three centimetres across!
I'm not completely sure what it is either, as I don't remember planting or sowing it! Could it be something from the carrot family?
It's growing in my garden, and I guess it could be considered a weed, but I've deemed it pretty enough to remain!
I'm not sure whether I'm doing a theme this month! We'll see where the pictures take us! :)
**UPDATE**
Since posting, I've found out from a contact on Google+ that this is Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)!
