If there's one place that consistently takes my breath away, it'd be Cley, of course. This was a difficult shot because I was shooting into the sun. The bench looks very grand. It has a fabulous view over the marshes.
If animals could speak, the dog would be a blundering outspoken fellow; but the cat would have the rare grace of never saying a word too much.

This is my friend's cat. He is 19 years old and still active enough to jump onto his favourite chair.
Happy Caterday!
Photographed with Oreston 50mm f1.8.
I last photographed this cat seven years ago. That portrait is in the first comment.

I wasn't particularly moved by the theme this week. When I first saw the theme, I had so many ideas brewing! But once it came to actually creating a composition with something half way interesting, it was a no go. I eventually settled on this shot.....although I am still not completely satisfied with it. I have the wishy washy decision making of a photographer - it's my curse. Haha!

Spot the two birds :)
For a change, this is a new (outside!) photo, taken just a few days ago at the wonderful Britzer Garten, one of Berlin's biggest and most beautiful public parks (please check my album for more "Britz bliss", if you like).
For better dynamic range, I've used exposure bracketing (three images), pre-processed the images in DXO PhotoLab (sharpness and DeepPrime denoising only), from which I directly went into HDR Efex Pro to combine the images. I'm trying to get away from the annual Adobe subscription, and combining images from an exposure bracketing series in HDR Efex instead of Lightroom is one step into that direction. Unfortunately, whenever I think I can finally leave Adobe behind for good they come up with improvements such as the new "supersize" function (now also available in LR), a ton of new presets for LR, and other interesting stuff (and I'm still used to the LR/PS workflow, and the layers in PS). Well, maybe I'll be ready next year ;)
Extra sliding was done in Color Efex, where I added some "Brilliance and Warmth" and a tiny bit of "Contrast Color Range".
Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone, stay safe and have a nice week ahead!

Rapeseed Oil
If you want a light alternative to other cooking oils, rapeseed is a great choice and has experienced a surge in popularity since around 2008. It's produced from the bright yellow rape plant that grows freely in the UK in large fields. Best cold -pressed, the oil can then used drizzled as salad dressing, or heated to fry or bake. It's low in saturated fat, so has been hailed for its health benefits and also has other nutritional bonuses - it contains omegas 3, 6 and 9, which reduce cholesterol and help to maintain healthy joint, brain and heart functions. As it is high in mono-unsaturated fats, it is one of the only unblended oils that can be heated to a high frying temperature and not spoil its antioxidants, character, colour or flavour. Homegrown rapeseed oil has been heralded the 'British olive oil' but its flavour is more earthy and nutty than fruity.

WICKED GAME by CHRIS ISAAK
FIREWORKS IN MY MIND
I feel that I could lose myself
within the warm fold of your arms
the intensity you feel for me
ignites fireworks in my mind
within the recess of my heart
where past love left a void
there's a burning river running through
lighting fireworks in my mind
it's scorching everything I touch
and coursing through my veins
I close my eyes and try to breathe
but still see fireworks in my mind
I feel myself falling deep
in the garden of my dreams
this burning love; intense white heat
creates fireworks in my mind
I walk along my empty beach
and try to stem the flow
I don't want to feel this way
with fireworks in my mind
it feels too much; explosive love
it consumes me with it's madness
somehow you got beneath my skin
caused fireworks in my mind
I'm weakening now as you grow close
but I'm less when you're not here
the coldness that ached and broke my bones
is gone with fireworks in my mind
I need to choose; to do things right
but it's harder when you're here
you took my heart and made it yours
lit fireworks in my mind
If I could choose and have it all
I'd tell you not to go
don't make me choose between the moon and you
with fireworks in my mind

If life challenges you and makes it difficult for you, you are forced to learn and grow. It is precisely these challenges that make us stronger and value life all the more.
If I fell in love with you
Would you promise to be true
And help me
Understand
'Cause I've been in love before
And I found that love was more
Than just
Holding hands
If I give my heart
To you
I must be sure
From the very start
That you
Would love me more than her
If I trust in you
Oh please
Don't run and hide
If I love you too
Oh please
Don't hurt my pride like her
'Cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I
Would be sad
If our new love was in vain
So I hope you see
That I
Would love to love you
And that she
Will cry
When she learns we are two
'Cause I couldn't stand the pain
And I
Would be sad
If our new love was in vain
So I hope you see
That I
Would love to love you
And that she will cry
When she learns we are two

Theodore Roosevelt
The slogan 'The buck stops here' is a promise that responsibility will not be passed on to anyone else. What's the origin of the phrase 'The buck stops here'? U.S. president Harry S. Truman had a sign on his desk with 'The buck stops here' inscribed on it.
NBC News’ Kristin Welker asked the president(Trump) if he is to blame for the lag in testing. “No, I don’t take responsibility at all,” he responded before quickly moving to his tried and true strategy: blame Obama. “We were given rules, regulations, and specifications from a different time.”
But that simply isn’t true. No remaining Obama-era regulation has prevented the administration from rolling out tests.
VOTE!! RESIST!! kick our president out of office at the polls!! stay safe and well :-)

PUBLIC - Make You Mine (Put Your Hand in Mine)
__________________________
Make You Mine
I need Your love, I wanna be close to You
I need Your touch, it makes me feel refined
I need Your heart, it warms me when I’m frozen through
But I walked away, left You to stay, with no explanation
Now I realize, my darkened skies, won’t shine without Your light
Will You forgive me
Can You forget the old me
If You let me
I want to make You mine
I see Your face, and suddenly my heart stands still
And when You smile, I’m lost within Your perfect world
But I walked away, left You to stay, with no explanation
Now I realize, my darkened skies, won’t shine without Your light
But I broke Your heart, right from the start, and it’s killing me inside
I know I can be, the one You see, if I throw away my pride
Will You forgive me
Can You forget the old me
If You let me, I want to make You mine
I want to make You mine
I want to make You mine

If there's one image that says Stratford to everyone who visits, it is our swans. Regal, graceful, majestic—these are all words that describe these noble birds. Stratford's honorary ambassadors set the pace for the city. But beware—they can be cranky, and one should keep one’s distance. These birds are, after all, royalty!
The presence of this Royal Family is one of our oldest and proudest traditions. The swans have been lovingly guarded and raised here in Stratford since 1918. You can download and read about our pride and joy in the brochure The Swans of Stratford, or pick up the book The Swans of Stratford, written by the late Robert Miller, the Honorary Keeper of the Swans, at a local book store. 180
