If feeding conditions is good the capacious throat sac is used to engulf whole shoals of fish. This large waterbird is often found swimming in flocks in shallow lowland lakes and river deltas. Native to south-east Europe.

If there is one place that is famous in the Seine-Maritime region, it is Saint-Georges de Boscherville Abbey. Its Romanesque style and authentic setting give it a very special charm. It is the result of a perfect blend of nature, art and history. Its roots are ancient, and it was built on a sacred site whose origin dates back to Gallo-Roman times.
SMALL dumpy wader that is associated with coastal habitats. Feeds by running along sand, gravel or estuarine mud as if powered by clockwork and then standing still for a second, to pick up food from the ground. Seen from the sea wall Reculvers, where their was a flock of about 20.

I think this format is a love it or hate it thing, I'm having fun for now experimenting and I like to think it's a way of showing a fuller perspective. Although obviously if you're viewing on a phone it's just crap.
For me, if there is an upside to lockdown this is it. A few acres of incredibly untouched and undisturbed woodland barely a mile from home that I hardly knew existed, it's a refuge for an astonishing range of wildlife and the perfect respite from all the frustrations of current limitations. Thanks to everyone who has commented, glad you like it and pleased if I've given you a smile. Next challenges are really getting to grips with the wildlife, and also charting the seasons. Stay safe all.
