In the biblical narrative of the Books of Samuel, David is described as a young shepherd and harpist whose heart is devoted to Yahweh, the one true God. After Saul and his son Jonathan are killed in battle, David is anointed king by the tribe of Judah and eventually all the tribes of Israel. He conquers Jerusalem, makes it the capital of a united Israel, and brings the Ark of the Covenant to the city. He commits adultery with Bathsheba and arranges the death of her husband, Uriah the Hittite. David's son Absalom later tries to overthrow him, but David returns to Jerusalem after Absalom's death to continue his reign. David desires to build a temple to Yahweh, but is denied because of the bloodshed of his reign. He dies at age 70 and chooses Solomon, his son with Bathsheba, as his successor instead of his eldest son Adonijah. David is honored as an ideal king and the forefather of the future Hebrew Messiah in Jewish prophetic literature, and many psalms are attributed to him.

A great view from the top of Pen y Fan in the Brecon Beacons of an imminent snow shower approaching. The beautiful lines and curves of these ridges makes up for any lack of rocky cliffs. I love the wintry feel of this one, and the Ideal Height by Biffy Clyro is perfect as in the hills the ideal height is at the top looking down.

I had already taken the day off and this was a great start to the day in pursuit of searchlights along the Mississippi River - another dying breed.

I returned the next day and, apart from some cloud on the western horizon, conditions were ideal to watch the hills turn rosy at sunrise
When you find yourself on this Florida beach by yourself in mid July you’ve just landed in paradise.
It has been nearly a year since my last visit down to Kirby Cove for sunrise. Not being able to sleep I opted to get up early and head towards the headlands. When I left low fog was gracing the Golden Gate Bridge with both towers sticking above the fog. I was keeping my fingers crossed to finally capture that elusive low fog with burning sky sunrise scene. To my dismay the fog decided to retreat and disappear minutes after my departure.
Despite the receding of fog the leading edge of a cloud front made landfall and was primed to explode in burning colors. I initially started at Battery Spencer and was shocked to see the parking lot completely packed by 6am. With the fog sitting just off the coast I was worried it would make another inland push and hence I started off at the classical Battery Spencer viewpoint.
Again I was surprised to see so many photographers setup. There must have been >50 photographers all lined up waiting for sunrise. I snapped off a few frames but I just couldn’t quite sit still having to jostle for space. As blue hour was reaching its peak, Alan and I decided at the last minute to make a bolt for Kirby Cove. Not wanting to miss any of the sky burn we literally sprinted down the trail. Photo backpacks and rain boots are not the ideal combo for running but we made do and miraculously made it all the way down in 10 minutes.
Down at Kirby Cove, there was not a single other photographer as Alan and I had the entire beach to ourselves. Better yet, the “treasure chest” lay at the center of the beach and was easily engulfed by the rising tides. A few minutes later the sky began burning. Although the burn never reached full potential the colors and reflected light was still a gem to witness.

Yellow Rocknettle (Eucnide bartonioides) clings to a cliff face overlooking the lower canyons of the Rio Grande. Though the light wasn't ideal, I could not resist capturing this beautiful scene. To do so I had to lay precariously on my stomach on a narrow ledge above a sheer cliff face.
Had a little potter along the beach at Birling Gap ... with the Fisheye, which isn't ideal for wildlife photography :))
A beautiful long weekend for a hike around Pitt Lake. Such a scenic spot although today's haziness in the valley wasn't ideal for getting clear pictures.
This morning dawned bright and cool, ideal for a walk in the woods.

Sadhu wörtl.: „Guter oder auch: Heiliger Mann“) ist im Hinduismus ein Oberbegriff für jene, die sich einem religiösen, teilweise streng asketischen Leben verschrieben haben, besonders bezeichnet es die Mönche der verschiedenen hinduistischen Orden.
Ein Sadhu, der das weltliche Leben völlig aufgegeben hat, asketisch lebt und sich in der vierten und damit letzten Phase des vedischen Ashrama-Systems befindet, ist ein Sannyasin, ein „Entsagender“. Es gibt aber auch Sadhus, die heiraten und Familien gründen, wie etwa die Baul, Angehörige einer mystischen Sekte im Osten Indiens. Baul ziehen umher, singen in Dörfern und Städten ihre typischen religiösen Lieder und bestreiten mit den Spenden ihren Lebensunterhalt. Sie besitzen bescheidene Wohnungen.
Andere Sadhus bilden Gemeinschaften in Ashrams oder leben in Wohnräumen, die mit Tempeln verbunden sind. Hier widmen sie sich dem spirituellen Leben, studieren und lehren die heiligen Schriften.
Manche umherwandernde, besonders asketischen Sadhus, die Sannyasins, begnügen sich auch mit irgendeinem Platz in der Nähe eines Tempels; andere leben in Höhlen oder sind völlig heimatlos auf ständiger Wanderschaft. Viele Sadhus rauchen Haschisch (charas) oder Cannabis (ganja), unter anderem zum Zwecke der Meditation. Sannyas ist auch die letzte der vier Stufen eines idealen Hindu-Lebens, das der Dharma, die hinduistische Ethik, als wünschenswert vorsieht. Im letzten Abschnitt des Lebens ist es demnach angemessen, sich von allem Weltlichen zu lösen und sich heimatlos, von milden Gaben ernährend, der Suche nach Erlösung zu widmen.
Bought some flowers at Lowes the other day to fill in some hanging baskets. Probably not an ideal hanging basket flower, but I couldn't pass up this interesting flower. It seems to be doing well so far.

Fue fundada en 1912 pero cerró sus puertas en 2017. Desde entonces y hasta noviembre de 2022, los más de dos mil metros cuadrados del edificio fueron puestos en valor y se recuperó su patrimonio histórico, gracias a un equipo de especialistas en bronce, madera, estuco, dorado a la hoja y vitrales.Su arquitectura es todo un símbolo de la Belle Époque. Te va a sorprender la centenaria cúpula, compuesta por 60 paneles de vitrales y una moldura elaborada con cartapesta.Las arañas y los apliques son originales, y en la restauración fueron bajadas y pulidas. También se desarmaron y renovaron los ascensores, se acondicionó la Bombonera del primer piso y los vitraux.Todo lo que consumas o compres en La Ideal es de elaboración propia: tiene su propia panadería, cocina, pastelería y bombonería. El edificio incluso cuenta con una lavandería.
Es un lugar muy especial de la Ciudad, para sentarse a comer o a tomar un rico desayuno o merienda. También podés comprar en la panadería, la bombonería y la sandwichería. Un verdadero viaje a la antigua Buenos Aires.Datos con historia
El dueño original de Confitería La Ideal fue Manuel Rosendo Fernández, un inmigrante español que planeó cada detalle de este restaurante y confitería, con todos los lujos de principios del siglo XX.
Se dice que aquí funcionó la primera fábrica de helados de la Ciudad.En la década del ’70, el primer piso se convirtió en un salón para milongas.
¿Querés saber algunos de los nombres más célebres que se sentaron en sus mesas? Desde Hipólito Irigoyen y Arturo Frondizi, hasta Jorge Luis Borges o Carlos Gardel, y Yoko Ono y Allan Parker. quedó deslumbrado con La Ideal, por eso decidió filmar allí escenas de la película Evita.

Humantay Lake, a hidden natural paradise in the Peruvian Andes, where the water reflects the snow-capped peaks surrounding it. This magical spot, located over 4,200 meters above sea level, is an ideal destination for adventure and nature lovers. The hike is incredibly scenic, but it’s recommended to do it alone only if you’re used to hiking at high altitudes, as the effort can be exhausting at 4,200 meters above sea level. A big thank you to everyone who took time to comment and take a look at my photo. Much appreciated!

An einem wechselhaften Sonntag im September waren gleich zwei Militärzüge unterwegs nach Altengrabow. Während der erste Zug mit Doppel-Gravita zu einer eher ungünstigen Zeitlage verkehrte, war der zweite Zug mit 233 288 fast ideal für die Piste. Zudem zeigte sich das Wetter gnädig und die Wolken lösten sich kurz nach Sonnenaufgang fast vollständig auf. So konnten drei von vier geplanten Bildern umgesetzt werden. Lediglich das letzte Bild in Loburg scheiterte an rapider Wolkenbildung.
An einem unbeschrankten Bahnübergang nahe der Ortschaft Zeddenick konnte 233 288 festgehalten werden.

Becoming Marni is a site-specific installation conceived as the concluding act of the whole Marni Prisma program. It consists of one hundred wooden sculptures created by Brazilian self-taught artist Véio, distributed around the cloister and inside the rooms of the Abbey, drawing an ideal landscape of organic forms. The sculptures are installed in different groups, indoors and outdoors, their presence marked by a tactile path, the color of Venice’s water, drawn on the floor: an irregular surface with translucent spots, creating continuity between the outside and the inside. A small cabinet in the cloister housed Véio’s workshop, enabling him to create artworks on site. Furthermore, as the San Gregorio Abbey is usually closed to the public, this exhibition presented an opportunity to enjoy a unique space.
Consuelo and Carolina Castiglioni discovered Véio at a collective exhibition in Paris. Through Galeria Estação, which exclusively represents him, they entered in contact with him and Carolina tracked him down to Nossa Senhora da Gloria, the small village in the north East of Brazil where he lives and works. Here Véio creates his enigmatic sculptures by giving new life to pieces of wood, clogs and branches he finds along the river. He immediately identifies a being in each piece – an animal, a resting human, a fantastic bird. By a process of artistic transformation – clipping, shaving, adding a final layer of color – he makes the same beings visible to the public, removing them from the raw material and thereby restoring to the wood a meaning that exceeds pure physicality.
