In the middle of the week, a thin layer of snow covered the Pyrenees. This little snow fall arrived after a long warm period, even at high altitude, which caused the disappearance of most white snow peaks. I like the impression the stars give on this picture, as if they were slowly and gently powdering the summits with icing sugar (Pic du Midi de Bigorre / Hautes-Pyrénées / France).

I'm on a mission to make turquoise icing (my absolute favourite colour for all things), but keep ending up with everything from teal to seagreen. This is another failed attempt!

For the odd things here and there when creativity hits me they all land here.

Frosted icing along side of the leaf. Just beautiful.

When you're celebrating your fourth birthday, there's nothing better than the icing on the cupcake.

A mystery find in a small box at mums - these perfect icing carnations are accompanied by an icing mortar board and a tiny icing scroll. The mystery is because neither my sister nor I remember having a graduation cake!

Our Daily Challenge ... one of these things is not like the others.

I didn't have enough Orange Cream Cheese frosting for all the cakes ... of course the ones with frosting went first!

These are my finished cinnamon buns. Before we eat them I'll decorate them with the icing in the pastry bag on the right. For now, both are going into the freezer.

JMT DAY 27 - SUNSET AT CRABTREE CAMPGROUND

Sunset at Crabtree Campground

After reaching Wallace Creek, I don’t know what got into me, but I said to Henry, who had been waiting for me there, that I wanted to keep going. And we did.

From Wallace Creek to Crabtree Campground was an uphill battle, which I totally forgot till I was hiking it. But we couldn’t turn around. I couldn’t. So, we kept going.

It was late afternoon when we reached the campground, and I was glad that we had enough time to pitch our tents and to get water.

The sun was setting over the ridge behind the forest, so it wasn’t something that I could manage to capture. Instead, I turned around and pointed my camera at one of the peaks I saw. And as I expected, the sunset glow was beautifully cast on the slope. And the reflection of the glow in the stream was just the icing on the cake.

*explore- #242 in interestingness (on 2008-10-23). thank you all very much for the views, comments and faves.*

a glorious sunset with quite a fiery trail. at this time, the sun is just behind those reddish rain clouds producing color combination that are rarely seen. like i've said before, without clouds, sunsets is just one big glow in the sky.

I was too lazy to try and attempt baking this week so when I was at the grocery store this morning I picked up with raspberry danish for Sweet Sunday.

Turned out to be a good thing because after getting all the errands done and making the soup for tonight's dinner I found I would not have had the time to bake anyway, so store bought it is!

Maybe next week I'll manage my time better and actually bake something for the weekly sweet treat.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

After a fantastic day of chasing, our last train of the day: U743 cruises along with 3000 feet of Ore Jennies bound for Empire Mine. Tilden will stay in business while its neighbor, Empire Mine, has already closed and is slowly working down the stock piles until they, like the mining operations, are gone.

It snowed the night before we arrived at Bryce Canyon, which created some wonderful scenes in the amphitheater, reminiscent of icing on a cake.

Tried my hand at some cookie decorating for the holiday. Techniques not perfected by any means (Martha Stewart: "Yeah, no."), but decently merry for a first pass?

Merry Christmas, for those who celebrate it!
