One of the few other larger icebergs that has made an appearance during this months iceberg parade. Qaqortoq, Greenland (May 30, 2015)

Sometimes, if only for a moment, time seems to stand still. It’s amazing to think that 91% of the iceberg is hidden under the water. The shot was taken near the entrance to LeConte Bay in Frederick Sound. It’s a single hand held exposure taken from a moving boat. Alaska, USA.

Glacial Lagoon in Eastern Iceland

So many Icebergs, all with different colors, textures and shapes

Scoresbysund, Greenland.

Exploration of the Scoresby Sound is a very memorable experience. It is one of the largest and longest fjord systems in the world. The sound is 400 to 1,450 m deep (1,310-4,760 ft) and the surrounding mountains are 1,000 to 2,000 m high (3,280-6,560 ft). The geology is dramatic and the sound is filled with various shape icebergs floating from the numerous glaciers towards the Greenland Sea.

Jökulsárlón (Icelandic pronunciation: [ˈjœːkʏlsˌaurˌloun̥], literally "glacial river lagoon" is a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park. Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the glaciers. It is now 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) away from the ocean's edge and covers an area of about 18 km2 (6.9 sq mi). It recently became the deepest lake in Iceland, at over 248 metres (814 ft), as glacial retreat extended its boundaries. The size of the lake has increased fourfold since the 1970s. It is considered as one of the natural wonders of Iceland.

The Icefjord of Ilulissat in Greenland is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere and flows at a rate of 20–35 m (66–115 ft) per day, resulting in around 20 billion tonnes of icebergs calved off and passing out of the fjord every year.

This colorful iceberg is melting into Isabella Bay off the northeast coast of Baffin Island, Canada.

One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the shapes and textures of the icebergs. These photos were taken during the helicopter flight to Nanortalik in Southern Greenland.

Jökulsárlón, or the Glacier Lagoon, is located in southeastern Iceland. It's a gorgeous place, and I would certainly recommend a visit if you can ever do so. This iceberg shows the black strips indicating vulcanic eruptions which may date back hundreds or thusands of years. The iceberg is on its side, hence why the lines are vertical.

I see a dolphin and a seal.

For me, Jökulsárlón was the best place of Iceland, together with the puffins of course. The fog added to the silent magic.

Gloomy evening at Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon but the soft light really helps to brings the striking turquoise colours out in the huge icebergs that float around in there.

Went rafting at the Spencer Glacier - very fun! =)

Was there in 2000, this is a scanned picture, didn't have digital back then.....

Sorry for my two week absence, just got back from a two week long trip to Glacier NP and am just starting to get my photos uploaded. Taken at Iceberg Lake, Glacier NP

Taken off the North end of Newfoundland near Quirpon (pronounced Kirpoon). Thought i'd play a little with photoshop

Icebergs calved from Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier (part of the larger Vatnajökull Glacier) reflect in the placid waters of Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon in Iceland

Taken at Mt Cook Aorangi National Park from a recent trip.

This beautiful looking iceberg in Greenland reminded me of a cathedral. The colour and shapes formed by the water are just incredible.

The mind is like an iceberg it floats with one seventh of its bulk above water .

Riding on our zodiacs, we were in the midst of ocean of icebergs....great fun indeed....

So many amazing locations in Iceland

Iceberg season has begun here in Newfoundland. There are only small ones on the east coast right now, but hopefully some larger ones will show up soon. :)

Fond memories from midsummer in Iceland. Back there next week for a short trip - yay!!

Another iceberg on our way to the Columbia Glacier. A flock of gulls is resting on this one. Must be cold on their feet.

More icebergs at Jökulsárlón in southern Iceland.

Jökulsárlón is a lagoon that borders a glacier. Icebergs break off the glacier and fill up the lake, waiting for their turn to pass through a narrow channel that leads to the ocean (unless they melt first).

A large piece of ice, seven or eight feet tall, sits in the surf on the side of a channel leading from the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon to the sea.

Just off the Newfoundland coast in early May.

The blue green waters of the Alaskan Straits, where most icebergs had seals taking a break.
