Somewhere near the Antarctic Peninsula, February 2016. And I have absolutely no idea how one iceberg can have one blue cave and one black, I didn't see anything else at all like it.
Lake Grey, Torres del Paine NP.
No sun again...............we had mainly bad weather:(
One of the last of my ICE Serie........vish you a beautiful day.
Gloomy evening at Jökulsárlón Ice Lagoon but the soft light really helps to brings the striking turquoise colours out in the huge icebergs that float around in there.

One of the most magnificent fjords in Norway
Sorry, more photos of icebergs in the surf at Jökulsárlón beach. Will never get enough of that place and those icebergs.
Layers of water, icebergs, clouds, mountains and icefields. The large icebergs are coming from the big glaciers in the Northwest Fjord through Hall Bredning on their way to Scoresby Sund and the Greenland Sea.

Local iceberg tourism. How big is the carbon foot print for each person on the boat? The jet fuel/gas/diesel just to look at frozen water.
Sometimes, if only for a moment, time seems to stand still. It’s amazing to think that 91% of the iceberg is hidden under the water. The shot was taken near the entrance to LeConte Bay in Frederick Sound. It’s a single hand held exposure taken from a moving boat. Alaska, USA.

Scoresbysund, Greenland.
Exploration of the Scoresby Sound is a very memorable experience. It is one of the largest and longest fjord systems in the world. The sound is 400 to 1,450 m deep (1,310-4,760 ft) and the surrounding mountains are 1,000 to 2,000 m high (3,280-6,560 ft). The geology is dramatic and the sound is filled with various shape icebergs floating from the numerous glaciers towards the Greenland Sea.
The Icefjord of Ilulissat in Greenland is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is the most productive glacier in the northern hemisphere and flows at a rate of 20–35 m (66–115 ft) per day, resulting in around 20 billion tonnes of icebergs calved off and passing out of the fjord every year.
One of the highlights of the trip was seeing the shapes and textures of the icebergs. These photos were taken during the helicopter flight to Nanortalik in Southern Greenland.
Jökulsárlón, or the Glacier Lagoon, is located in southeastern Iceland. It's a gorgeous place, and I would certainly recommend a visit if you can ever do so. This iceberg shows the black strips indicating vulcanic eruptions which may date back hundreds or thusands of years. The iceberg is on its side, hence why the lines are vertical.
During our zodiac cruise in Paradise Harbor, we came upon a pair of icebergs next to one another with a gap in between them. Our driver came around the outside of one and brought us in between them so we could get a closer look. Conservatively, I would say the bergs are 50-100 meters tall. One berg has a large "arm" with a hole underneath it. Due to its resemblance to a flying buttress (in my mind), I refer to it as the Cathedral Iceberg.
8-10-17 While the MS Rotterdam was traveling through Prince Christian Sound in southern Greenland We passed many large icebergs of differant sizes and shapes
Black-browed Albatross at horizon centre, mountains of the Antarctic Peninsula draped in shining clouds. Mountains and icebergs echoing each other's shapes. The sense of the wind in the torn skies and blackened sea. This image brings it all back to me.
