Maurizio Cattelan is an Italian artist. Known primarily for his hyperrealistic sculptures and installations, Cattelan's practice also includes curating and publishing. His satirical approach to art has resulted in him being frequently labelled as a joker or prankster of the art world. Self-taught as an artist, Cattelan has exhibited internationally in museums and Biennials. In 2011 the Guggenheim Museum, New York presented a retrospective of his work. Step into a hyperrealistic world of unexpected drama. Set in a strange hybrid time period where elements from the historical past of Danish farm life blend with unfamiliar phenomena from the sci-fi future of a trans-human world, the drama revolves around a family of three. This is, however, no ordinary family, which is obvious from the moment you enter their home and encounter the inhabitants as you walk through the rooms containing their belongings, food, and working tools. But who is this family, and what has happened to them and the world they live in? This is not so obvious. The whole setting by Uffe Isolotto is haunted by a deep uncertainty. It is impossible to tell whether it is tragic or hopeful. Perhaps it is both? Does the family embody the complex and unsettling experience of going forward in today’s radically changing world? If so, the more general question becomes, do we seek refuge in who we were or do we look for escape routes in what we might become?

Briefly: Crossroads of the World has been called America's first outdoor shopping mall. Located on Sunset Boulevard and Las Palmas in Los Angeles, the mall features a central building designed to resemble an ocean liner surrounded by a small village of cottage-style bungalows. It was designed by Robert V. Derrah and built in 1936.
Once a busy shopping center, the Crossroads now hosts private offices, primarily for the entertainment industry. It has been used for location shooting in many films, including L.A. Confidential and The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, in TV shows including Dragnet and Remington Steele, and in commercials by McDonald's, Ford and Mattel. A reproduction of Crossroads' iconic tower and spinning globe can be seen just inside the entrance to Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Florida.

I resculpted the nose and mouth of this Alita head sculpt to likeness of supermodel Karen Elson. The skin tone in Milk with hyperrealistic blushing and an experimental resin coating for skin like texture and to protect the blushing.
I made two red wigs that are iconically Karen for her: a frizzy and wild afro style with central parting (wool mohair mix) and classic femme fatale curls from smooth alpaca.

This was for a project for my photo class where I demonstrated the possibilities of Lightroom. Unfortunately, this isn't the true color of the actual shot; it's a hyperrealistic edit of colors. This was to teach the class the power of manipulation and how over-edited photos can still look like actual shots. It still looks beautiful, but it makes you wonder, which image would you rather see?

As I was walking along San Lorenzo in Manila, I noticed that I was passing under a bridge and was intrigued by the messages on the walls. It dawned on me that I was walking in the footsteps of Don Bosco. The situation we find ourselves in is not set in stone, and it is not about exerting power over others. Instead, it is about empowering others.
As a society, we often find ourselves at a crossroads. Education is our best tool to illuminate the path ahead. We must lead our communities towards a future where diversity is celebrated, fairness is upheld, and the human spirit thrives.
Artwork Review:
This piece by multimedia artist JJFBbennett, titled "I Found Messages Under The Bridge," is a provocative synthesis of realism and surrealism. The image captures an urban landscape under a bridge, a place often associated with transition and overlooked narratives.
