Quite why they needed a hydrant next to the sea I don't know.
Pictures like this are a dime a dozen in Mauritius though.

Fire hydrant's always seem out of place. My neighborhood is very affluent but the hydrants that dot the streets seem completely neglected while everything else is kept in tip-top shape.
I've never drawn this style of hydrant before, found outside the quick stop market on the corner of 8th and pole line, davis.
Just outside of the old Administration Building. I really loved the tall grass surrounding the crusty ole thang.
So after having to pull over because of a minor accident with my nephew, who puked on himself in the lead vehicle, I popped out of the car and wandered over to the nearby field. There was this old fire hydrant that looked rather interesting, and it looks a lot older than any of the hydrants in the city. So I got out the Rolleicord and took this without any filters.
Really impressed with the Rodinal and TMAX combination. Fantastic stuff!
Wondering how this will print in the darkroom..

Draw a fire hydrant. We dont have many traditional looking fire hydrants in Australia. In Sydney they are more likely to be a series of pipes coming out of the ground. I found this "Fire Hose Reel" on the way to work. It is on the wharf near near all the water taxis and harbour cruise boats. This is not at Sydney Harbour near our famous icons of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but the other side of the Harbour. I've never seen them used .
Went to Grand Rapids today to pick up a G9 as my always with me camera and went downtown to shoot for a while with Dad. Lots of nice targets downtown but this hydrant really stood out against that blue wall. The wall is very small blue tile (maybe 3/4' square) that varied in color which give it that textured look in the background. Not sure how you pass up yellow and blue....
Note, I shot the g9 today in the same situation as my D300 with a 50mm 1.4 and I got to say that thing is amazing for a P&S.... Really high quality RAW files coming out and the color is really good. More to come but seems like it might be a great solution when you dont want to drag the kitchen sink.... 59... pretty good...

This is a panorama of a wall in the Strip District. Must be viewed large.
I'm not really sure what the name for this kind of graffiti is, as most of it is pasted to the wall, instead of drawn or painted on.
Also, and while this is really only a celebration of my own, this is my 1000th photo on Flickr. Of course, I've deleted a few, others are private, or friends/family only; but still, 1000 is a number worth mentioning.
