Hydrangea 'Marechal Foch' blooms the second summer.

Hydrangeas seem to be very popular with my customer's. Very understandable since I love the flower myself :).

Little tiny centre flowers from a lacehead hydrangea.

 

I just learned that little buds/flowers in the centre of the lacecap are the fertile flowers, and the large showy blossoms around the outer edge are the sterile flowers. Who knew?

My left shoulder got broken 2 weeks ago and I had a surgery last week. Now I'm hospitalized for 2 weeks. My mom brought this hydrangea to my hospital room from my garden.

Mid July is the season for Hydrangeas in the Hillier Arboretum. This is one of a series of studies of the flowers, which display a fantastical range of colours, both between plants, but also within the flower heads. Next time, I'll take a tripod. Hillier Arboretum, near Romsey, Hampshire England
