We can not grow these stunning flowers in New Mexico. Imagine how thrilled I was to see them everywhere in Washington DC. Not just a bush mind you, but a hedge!

Our hydrangeas have been blooming nicely this summer.

All of our hydrangeas are blooming and they have been calling for me to take pictures of them.

 

I really wish I had a real macro lens - these filters don't do the flower justice.

 

Plus, I learned that trying to take hand-held macro shots with the wind blowing = not an easy task ;)

Hydrangeas are large shrubs that produce clusters of white, pink, or blue flowers, their color depending on the acidic level of the soil. These thirsty plants do best in light shade with rich, well-drained soil.
