hydrangea ヤマアジサイ

Hydrangea is a genus of 70-75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea.

I took this photo at Vandusen Botanical garden.

The hydrangea walk at Abbotsbury Sub-Tropical Gardens - beautiful - and I don't even *like* hydrangeas much...

ETA Thanks everyone for the explore! My third in the space of a week, and I have no idea why but it's still nice :)

The Hydrangeas did very well this year, although in general the heads are smaller probably due to the hot summer.

Now some have been dried and form a lovely dash of colour in the room.

Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words "hydro" or water, and "angeion," or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water.

A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.

Flower lovers will know that there is a flower language.

Every sentiment is expressed in one form or another by delicate blooms.

Of course, even the experts disagree on the "true meaning" of many flowers and most have different meanings to different people.

So, while all flowers convey thoughtfulness and love, a gift of flowers for a special someone will always create its own personal meaning, too.

HYDRANGEA = Thank You for Understanding.

Have a wonderful day and thank you for your comments with all my heart, M, (*_*)

Hydrangea from my Yard

Hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers. I love not only the range and shades of colors, but also the fact that they display them all at once on one bush.

Hydrangea aspera - 4 juli 2011 - thuis - Nieuwkoop

Redeveloped this image that is taken at last year.

I took a tour of the gardens before the rain began today. The hydrangeas are budding and starting to bloom.

Hydrangeas always remind me of the rainy season in Japan. With the deep colors, these look best on a cloudy humid warm day as opposed to a nice sunny dry day...or so I think. Or maybe it's the image I have in my head.

A White Hydrangea fower dripping with raindrops.

Captured this and about 50 other shots, some of which I will get around to posting, on June 13th with iPhone and Olloclip Macro lens.

Made a brief visit to the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls, Massachusetts, USA on September 19, 2017. Fun to see the late summer blooms!
