Taken with Lensbaby Composer, Sweet 35 Optic. Real toss up between this and B&W, but this one works better I think.
This has been the best year ever for hydrangeas! They come in almost every hue, creating a splash of colour everywhere they're planted, retaining beauty even after they've finished blooming (dried hydrangeas make effective flower arrangements).
Hydrangeas are normally white, but the species we see most often is H. Macrophylla, that produces colours depending on the pH balance of the soil. Acid soil produces blue, alkaline pink, and neutral white or cream.
Hydrangea or hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (China, Japan, Korea, the Himalayas, and Indonesia) and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others lianas reaching up to 30 m (98 ft) by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that this pattern took me two days to figure out. But I'm very happy with the end result! I backlit this picture and I thought it looked really cool :)

Hydrangea macrophylla is a species of flowering plant in the family Hydrangeaceae, native to Japan. It is a deciduous shrub growing to 2 m (7 ft) tall by 2.5 m (8 ft) broad with large heads of pink or blue flowers in summer and autumn. Common names include bigleaf hydrangea, French hydrangea, lacecap hydrangea, mophead hydrangea, penny mac and hortensia. It is widely cultivated in many parts of the world in many climates
Hydrangea, the name, comes from the Greek words 'hydro' or water, and 'angeion' or vase = water vase, they prefer a lot of water. In French and Flemish: Hortense, Hortensia, like the female name!
A very ancient plant, found in fossils going back thousands of years.
In most species the flowers are white, but in some species (notably H. macrophylla), they are blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple, depending on the soil they grow in..
I wish you all the very best and thank you for all your kind words, time, comments, likes and faves. Very much appreciated.

Paper: Unryu treated with mc
I finally got to make the hydrangea! Such an interesting fold. The paper was too soft for me to do more levels. Unryu is pretty but dfifficult for me to fold on a small scale.
