Hydrangeas are one of those flowering plants which are beautiful all year round - whether the big mop of flowers are in colourful bloom, or like this - brown and crisp.
My entry for No.58 - Delicate, in 112 in 2012.

Lovely hydrangea flowers taken at Taurus Crafts, near Lydney on the side of the River Severn. The genus Hydrangea has over 70 different species of flowering plants most of which come originally from East Asia.

Hydrangea, common names hydrangea or hortensia is a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to Asia and the Americas. It belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. ‘Hydrangea’ is derived from Greek and means ‘water vessel’, which is in reference to the shape of its seed capsules. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably Korea, China, and Japan. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others reaching up to 30 m by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous. Flowers are produced from early spring to late autumn; they grow in flowerheads most often at the ends of the stems. 10278
