It was a hard fought battle. Armed with nothing but a broom and a can of spray, I fought the hideous beast. Many a pair of undies perished in the struggle......BUT I STAND VICTORIOUS!!!
I kid you not...this thing was the size of my palm. Its not a good photo as I was shaking with hysterical fear across the other side of the laundry!

Normally nocturnal, this one was out in broad daylight resting in a corrugation of my water tank.
She's slowly taking shape. Been bogged down with other work and prepping for the Open Shop and providing support for the Hampshire 100.
This spider was taking a risk being out in the open where any passing bird or spider wasp could attack it.

Habitat:
Mostly under loose bark but may be found in sheds and houses.
Toxicity:
Uncertain; may cause mild illness

Taken at my mom house
This is one of the large hairy spiders that has the habit of popping up in Australian homes when you least expect. Here we meet one face to face (the Raynox lens allows me to keep a respectable distance away!)
