Having moved to Worcestershire in 1979 it is surprising that I didn't come across this well known location until well into the 1980's. Even then I only have a handful of class50 photos much to my shame. I'm afraid they were too taken for granted and there were always other subjects to photograph and I was distracted in heading for the S&C at every opportunity. Having a young family also meant not as much free time or money available.

Still like many other photographers I never tire of seeing trains here.

How much more work can I do today?.. a very nice and bright day while watching people enjoying the sun and children running around the water fountain...?

How cute are these Christmas stockings and isn't Barbara Carlon, the layout designer, creative?

Christmas stockings layout created by Barbara Carlon (in Sprout), using fabric designs by several designers (sourced through Spoonflower), including my 'Maneki neko lucky cats, 4 directional on lucky 8s'; and misstiina's 'Christmas candy cane stripes red' and 'Pinstripes red'.

I think this looks so wonderful: I really love the combination.

And isn't it terrific that Sprout and Spoonflower combined can enable this kind of creativity?

Catch Barbara at her personal blog Zibergirl.com and her new place of employment: Sewist.com, the new sewing social network. Thanks very much Barbara for letting me share your creativity, really appreciate that!

My 6th entry for the Colossal Castle Contest, this time in the Archery Tournament category. I enjoyed getting to use our sand green plates for the landscape.

The annual horseback archery tournament in Avalonia is always a popular competition. Spectator stands are placed around the range, while wooden stakes mark how close archers are allowed to get to targets.

This one looks great big. I just love it when the insects and dust are captured in the sunlight like this. It creates such a magical look.

How's that for shallow depth of field. I like this pic for a couple of reasons.

One, it is a very good example of what a shallow depth of field looks like. And two, it is easy to see that depth of field is planar, as the focus area appears to warp around the round rock.

hell hath no fury like a tgirl...

Yippe for Friday, everyone!

This is the first shot taken on my gawjus Manfrotto tripod, I pulled in near this field on my way home with it. No soon had I got it erect when POW! A man appeared asking me what I was doing....ummmm taking a photo?? I then nervously went into depths to explain it was a 3 bracketed shot, I was hoping to get a good HDR. I don't know why I told him this, I'm sure from the look he gave me it made no sense.

Anyhow after he had told me about people walking their dogs and spoiling nearby crops and not being respectful, I decided NOW was the time to do a silly shot, knowing that he'd gone away happy that I was trustworthy.

A 10 second timer dash, if you don't mind, in which I sustained a slight elbow injury, gawd knows how. And its not the best shot, but Im so happy with my new tripod that I decided to upload it even though it shows my horrid Hobbit feet off nicely.

When from our better selves we have too long been parted by the hurrying world, and droop. Sick of its business, of its pleasures tired, how gracious, how benign is solitude.

The mockingbird was trying to get a good stand and slipped while I was watching. I think he was embarrassed:>) I don't know how to fix my error and the second shot is not showing for most people. Sorry.

I have some extra pics I'm posting later. :p

Do you know to make some a lego cape. I show you how to make it. Making a cloth similar to Lego fabric.

Try to paint using overlapping strokes. Note how one edge of the shadow is done first. A little dry time before adding the overlapping strokes helps keep the color from blening too much, enhancing the aged look.

I am no expert, but this is what I know. Critiques of this are very welcome!

What is panning? It is a technique that is used to capture moving objects. One popular object to pan are cars, but you can also apply this technique to other moving objects like bikers, joggers, dogs etc. A good shot of a object in motion has the two following characteristics: (1) the object is sharp and (2) the rest is blurry. (1) and (2) give the picture a sense of motion.

The picture is a good pan of a blue Mazda6. How do I know it is a good pan? First, the car is sharp. If you look at this picture in original size you will see that the car is very sharp; you can even see that the driver has a small earring (at least he has good car taste). Second, the background is pretty blurry. Look at the trees behind the car - all one nice blur. Third, look at the wheels. Since the wheels move differently than the car, they are in motion. If you blow up the picture again you will notice that the middle of the wheel is almost still. In fact, you can almost see the small Mazda logo that is there.

For another example of a good pan look below at this pan of a Ford Tempo (one of my best pans had to be this old car!).

WARNING !

This it how it starts, then before you know it your car and home has a distinct strong pony fragrance and your world takes on a different routine.

Full of mucking out, stables, water, grazing, pony magazines, fields, shoeing, saddles, saltlics, rides, lessons, vets, grooming, tack, poisonous plants, the yard, new friends, traffic, rugs, beds, haynets, brushes, picking out feet, supplements, X Rays, haylage, horse flies, grooming kits, bridles, numnahs, Vets again.

It's not so much a change of lifestyle it's far more akin to being dropped onto a different planet !!!

The fallen lime leaves and wet rocks provided a wonderful contrast of colour and textures - this was a great spot, if somewhat slippery! I didn't have a tripod with me so this was hand-held at 1/8th of a second - I think I just about got away with it!

Our little tonkinese kitten Samantha shows how to sleep on your head. She was sleeping in the cat bed with Rupert and gradually slid out until she ended up in this position. Kindaaa don't like this? I dunno. I'm not actually really that sure about how I feel about this.

OK, I don't know exactly how he feels, since I'm not 150 years old and I don't weigh 615 pounds, but sometimes, I feel close to that, so I can imagine how he feels.

Here's Speedy, again, as he was leaving the soaking pool. It was a struggle, but he made it. Don't you just love the patterns on his legs!

How to make this shot to look serious? Impossible, because next to this fairytale house is SpongeBob house and more, hence I done HDR of this not so serious but beautiful replicas on Singapore Changi Airport, enjoy, Mario.

helpless we are, like netted birds, when we are caught by desire." I was challenged a few days ago by Kerry lynn's frameworks class to use a rub on in a different kinda way. She made the most amazing page and I wanted to make something cool like her. Mine isnt as beautiful as hers but I kinda like it. I had painted the whole thing on a cardboard and loved it but hated it and cut it all up and then found this old frame in my garage and painted vintage wallpaper for the back and viola there ya go. Oh the rub on is on a vintage sewing patter and then on a cardboard and the clouds are vintage music sheets and the words i typed on my typewriter and cut apart. TFL!

My run sheet only read I had to empty a single 660L recycle bin here, so I raised my eyebrows a bit when I rocked up and found this. For a split second I was thinking “what a pain in the arse” with all this large cardboard layered on top of the bins. However, I briefly thought about how to tackle this and came up with a very simple solution! All I had to do was reverse the truck right against the bin on the right and push the cardboard from behind into the hopper. Turned out to be quite effortless; it all slid straight across the top of the bins and flopped down into the tailgate. From this point I ran 3 or 4 pack cycles, which dragged the cardboard off the bins and fed it into the body of my truck. All I had to do now was empty the 660L I’d been sent to handle, plus throw the garbage 660L which was also loaded with cardboard. This job would’ve only been annoying if the extra was dumped on the ground beside the bins, as is usually the case. Rather I reckon some legend was smart and did this deliberately to save me the task of lifting :D

These eight herons have taken over this cellphone tower after a storm with high winds felled their old nesting tree.

How much wood would a wood duck duck if a wood duck could duck wood? Seems I've heard something like that before? Well, maybe wood ducks don't "duck" but they sure can "jump." These medium sized ducks nest in tree openings and nest boxes near woodland lakes and ponds. The ducklings are known for their ability to jump from the nests, to the ground or into the water, even from great heights. Wood ducks are some of the most colorful waterfowl in the world. They have strong nails on their feet that allow them to climb and perch on branches. They can also be extremely hard to approach, and tend to be very quick to flee at the first sight of humans. #iLoveNature #iLoveWildlife #WildlifePhotography in #Florida #Nature in #NorthAmerica #America #USA #DrDADBooks #WoodDucks #Canon #Picoftheday #Photooftheday #PickYourPark #WildlifeConservation

This was the first time that I have seen a B52 Bomber in the flesh. Having been brought up on the diet of the Cold War, the image of a B52 never leaves you. What a sight as it took off with those dirty engines pumping out a thick cloud of jet exhaust. This aircraft reminded me of that wonderful Peter Sellers classic Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. This black comedy came out in 1964 film directed by Stanley Kubrick, starring Peter Sellers and George C. Scott. Loosely based on Peter George's Cold War thriller novel Red Alert, a.k.a. Two Hours to Doom, Dr. Strangelove satirized the nuclear scare. The story is framed around an unhinged United States Air Force general who orders a first strike nuclear attack on the Soviet Union, and follows the President of the United States, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Royal Air Force (RAF) officer as they try to recall the bombers to prevent a nuclear apocalypse, as well as the crew of one B-52 as they attempt to deliver their payload. The B52 has been referred to by Air Force personnel as the BUFF (Big Ugly Fat Fucker).

It has been a busy few days for me so will get round to seeing people's stream later today.
