A unique - never to be seen again sight of a spectacular Royal Navy pairing in the form of a Westland Sea King AEW.2 flanked by a BAe Sea Harrier FRS.1 - both performing at an early 80's RNAS Yeovilton Air Day.
Both were in a slow forward hover - the SHAR all cleaned up for a fast-getaway and the Sea King with her radar deployed.
With the withdrawal of the Ark Royal and her AEW Gannets several Sea Kings were converted to cater for the fleet's Early Warning capability.
Still in service as the ASaC7 a development of the Merlin is mooted to eventually replace them.
Scanned from a poor print.
Usually hummingbirds are just here and gone. This one was hovering a while. I got a whole extra second or two to focus.
Adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird..... Not crazy about this shot, but wasn't sure about deleting it.

Young Red Footed Falcon hovering above the golf course at Girdle Ness, Aberdeen. A lifer for me.
These rather aggressive gulls (Lesser Black-backed Gulls) can be seen in great numbers hovering low over the water, or standing by the lake side, waiting to be fed.
Tjoernin Pond is right in the town centre of Reykjiavik.

The eastbound M-KCVN is through town and the Ozark Valley railroad has completed its set out and pickup; now it's time to go to work, with the temp already hovering around 1000 degrees and humidity at about 200%.
The crew for the W-KCME has cut off the east end of their train, cleared the control point at East Mexico, and begun shoving west to run around their train. They'll join up with other MoW forces already working this not-that-busy stretch of the KCS through central Missouri. Thank goodness that switch is now radio-controlled.
