LOOKS BEST ENLARGED on BLACK.......My wife while viewing my nights photos said "it looks like those rocks are hovering in the air" ,so thats what I decided to call the photo.
Sometimes I think there is nothing as fascinating as a Hover Fly. These are flies, not bees. They have no defenses other than masquerade. They look a lot like a bee with that striped abdomen. They buzz even louder than a bee. They hover so perfectly that their scary abdomen just dares you to get stung. They even portray a temperament that threatens you to doubt them. They will fly at you rather than away as if to say I am coming to get you. I have to tell myself this is all a big ruse so I can calmly sneak up on the cranky buggers to get a good shot. The strategy the hover fly uses is well known in nature and is called defensive mimicry. It is the art of pretending to be something they are not in order to intimidate their predators. Politicians have nothing on these bombastic bluffers.

Rocky Mountain Beeplant (Cleome serrulata) blossoms are very attractive to the Snowberry Clearwing moth (Hemaris diffinis), sometimes called the Hummingbird Moth, which hovers as it sips the flower's nectar.

I captured this Kestrel at my local Nature Reserve in Shropshire.
Kestrels are found in a wide variety of habitats, from moor and heath, to farmland and urban areas. The only places they do not favour are dense forests, vast treeless wetlands and mountains. They are a familiar sight, hovering beside a motorway, or other main road. They can often be seen perched on a high tree branch, or on a telephone post or wire, on the look out for prey.

Few week ago I saw pictures of Lego 76115 Spider-Man Mech vs. Venom Mech and there is cute hover surf in this set. And I thought the paddle board like that would be nice.
I know, you do not need paddle when you have hover board with jet engine but I like it ^^
