Probably my fav holiday of the year - HALLOWEEN! I bought this high quality Skull watch on AliExpress for $16 and put a nice black bracelet on it and I am good to go!

I had created a whole bunch of custom background graphics and had them printed on styrene for the matte finish so was messing around with this new background. Which you cannot really see but if you look closely under the watch it looks like a real metallic surface.

Richard Mille, RM011 IQ, photo: Raffi Hadidian

Full disclosure...I am not 100% strategic when I am putting together these dioramas so I really enjoy when a shot comes together like this.

This backdrop is a photo I took of the MSG Sphere from long term parking at the airport with my GFX 250mm with extender. Sent it off to the printer for a backdrop.

These new watch holders are really so great because that watch is not at an angle but at 90º "looking straight into the camera".

The lighting is what gets me pumped. I have a "hairlight" LED that rotates colors so every shot is different. Then, my key light is to the left with a medium sized modifier/softbox. Then, I have two seperate Godox V1's positioned to bounce and lastly I have a small LED light filling the "right" side of the tank truck.

Lastly, I have a UV SPOTLIGHT that fires up the lume on the dial but does not over "UV" the rest of the shot. Because the 3D lume is so strong with this particular watch, it fires up very quickly.

Voila! No extension tubes used for this shot tho. Just the native 110mm. Make sure you zoom in for fantastic detail!!

A beautiful Prim Sport "Igen" 38 being rebuilt in the watch restoration and assembly room at Prim.

On September 26, 2008 my family and I were privileged to spend the day in the beautiful town of Nové Mesto nad Metují in the east of the Czech Republic, close to the Polish border. Our host was Mr. Jan Prokop, Marketing Director (and principal designer) at the ELTON hodinárská, a.s. - the manufacturers of fine bespoke Prim wristwatches.

Mr. Prokop collected us from our hotel in Prague, drove us to Nové Mesto nad Metují and back (a round trip of three hours), presented their current product range, guided us through their interesting museum, and led us on a tour of the full manufacturing operation at Prim. This was a fantastic opportunity, and we got to see everything from the manufacturing of cases, dials, hesatite crystals and hands through to the final assembly process. We also saw great examples of their bespoke manufacturing capability as well as their top class restoration service. Mr Prokop ended a fine day with a meal and good local beer in a restaurant on the old town square.

Six weeks after our visit I sent my prized Prim Sport "Igen" 38 (produced in the 60's and early-70's) to ELTON where it is currently being restored and modernised to my specification, as well as being personalised. I can't wait to get it back - my first bespoke wristwatch and an heirloom to pass on to my son!

Although obviously sensitive about certain parts of their operation, Mr. Prokop graciously allowed me to take many photographs during our visit, and here they are for your viewing pleasure. As you will see, these are truly hand-made watches that combine both leading edge design and manufacturing processes and age-old processes and technologies. It is this progressive traditionalism and craftsmanship that gives these unique timepieces their individual character...and I love them!

The Steinhart Nav. B-Uhr II 44mm Automatic is definitely one of the best bang-for-the-buck Pilot's watch. Read my review of this watch at the Pinoy Watch Idiot.

This is a quite bland watch with only the name and the gold case, to give it any merit.

A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Flyback

This is my favorite Rolex "dress watch". The sharktooth dial is rare -- and simply gorgeous. What a timepiece from an era when watches were art -- the 1950s.

Keeping to the F.P.Journe ethos, the quartz movement gets a beautifully decorated battery cover, finished intricately in red gold. Red gold has a higher copper content compared with pink or rose gold, and Journe really weaves some magic into all his watches.

The 2020 Snoopy has finally made their way to Malaysia, with the first batch in delivered in very limited numbers. And while I think the dial is quite unique, the caseback is the one that carries the most "wow" factor.

Finally decided to go ahead and plant the damn watch.

Watchmaker fixing a watch (Mèo Vac, Vietnam)

The Orient "Automatic" watch seems to be very popular among local country men (it's a mechanical watch that does not needs to be rewind, it rewinds itself when moving).
