Sea Striker T-100 Tritium 45mm - This is a new Aragon watch for my and my 7th from Aragon. A great watch company shipping out of Florida. I like this purple dial and this is my 2nd watch with tritium tubes. With tritium tubes, unlike a "lume" application, these light up at night regardless or even irrevelant of sunshine or UV. In a sense they are consider "nuclear" technology.

The Emett clock in Nottingham. Or the aqua horological tintinnabulator as it was named by Rowland Emett OBE in 1973

My beautiful automotive inspired chronograph. It's very well made. Size of 38mm wears really good on my wrist. Love it!

Arguably the most recognisable clock face on the planet.

TIME is the topic for Wed Dec 9 2020

This Speedy is pretty cool. It was the first Speedmaster and the first Omega made in full ceramic, which makes it a potentially collectible item. Unlike many of its competitors (see the IWC Top-gun, for example) its case is made from a single piece of black ceramic. In fact, almost everything visible from the front is made in Zirconium dioxide, including the pushers, the crown and the actual dial. Mind you, it was released about 12 years ago, which made it somewhat of a pioneer in terms of the use of ceramic in the world of watchmaking.

For any one like me, whose first love in the world of watches was a moon-watch, this thing is pretty much a must have. And I mean this very first one, not the other more colourful (and rather uglier) variations. It is a certified chronometer, it adds a nice date window at 6 o'clock, it comes with a sapphire case back that displays the nicely arabesque-decorated movement and it is virtually unscratchable thanks to the all-ceramic and sapphire construction. It's the Speedy you can take almost anywhere without minding the scratches. Its release represented a welcome evolution: While it departed from the iconic Speedmaster three-sub counter dial layout, it retains so many critical elements of the original design language that it leaves no room for doubt: When you see it, you know you are in the presence of a direct descendant of the first watch that went to the moon. An updated version of sorts.

P.S: It´s also extremely hard to photograph due to the white tint the sapphire takes against the glossy black dial.

Oris, founded in 1904, is a privately owned Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watches. In the ‘quality watch’ spectrum, Oris is regarded as medium range.

a 1985 seiko quartz dress watch patterned from a seiko lasalle. a marvel of engineering at the time because of its size (4mm thick), this watch cost around USD300. despite its age now it still keeps very good time and only needs battery replacement every 2 years. by the early 1980's the swiss watch industry was in a quandary due to the new quartz technology (started in 1970's) dominated by japan through seiko, citizen and casio. the swiss watch industry was on a verge of collapse until they began to jump into the bandwagon to develop their own line of quartz, the swatch , but this is another part of horology.

The Mason County Horological Society organized the construction of the Village Time Museum, affectionately known as the “Clock Shop” in 1990. The clocks on display are primarily from the large donation of clocks and watches by Mrs. Hazel Oldt.

The Pantograph (engraving) machines are from the Star Watch Case Company, which was one of the leading industries of Ludington for many years. It might be considered a form of mass production as the design that the stylus follows on the master plate is transferred identically 28 – 31 times.

The brass clock, with the ornate long pendulum run by weights, is of French origin and is called a Morbier clock from the region of France where it originated. The style of decoration (the figures of farmers at the top of the case) helps to date the clock to approximately 1815.

The Cuckoo clock dates from about 1850 and is a fine example of a Black Forest German Clock.

The large Seth Thomas one-weight clock was from Hudsonville, MI. To be used, it was attached to external batteries to ring the bell for the Hudsonville High School during the early 1900’s.

"Columbia, formerly Wright's Ferry, is a borough (town) in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 10,222. It is 28 miles (45 km) southeast of Harrisburg, on the east (left) bank of the Susquehanna River, across from Wrightsville and York County and just south of U.S. Route 30.

The settlement was founded in 1726 by Colonial English Quakers from Chester County, led by entrepreneur and evangelist John Wright. Establishment of the eponymous Wright's Ferry, the first commercial Susquehanna crossing in the region, inflamed territorial conflict with neighboring Maryland but brought growth and prosperity to the small town, which was just a few votes shy of becoming the new United States' capital. Though besieged for a short while by Civil War destruction, Columbia remained a lively center of transport and industry throughout the 19th century, once serving as a terminus of the Pennsylvania Canal. Later, however, the Great Depression and 20th-century changes in economy and technology sent the borough into decline. It is notable today as the site of one of the world's few museums devoted entirely to horology." - info from Wikipedia.

The fall of 2022 I did my 3rd major cycling tour. I began my adventure in Montreal, Canada and finished in Savannah, GA. This tour took me through the oldest parts of Quebec and the 13 original US states. During this adventure I cycled 7,126 km over the course of 2.5 months and took more than 68,000 photos. As with my previous tours, a major focus was to photograph historic architecture.

This is a crazy weird digital watch with what seems like a digital billboard for the "dial". Truth be told, great for old dude eyes! I rarely wear this watch but I am plotting my watch for tomorrow and thought I would break this out....

Not sure how these emails arrive but somehow I came across this analog Casio for $30USD via the Creation Watches website. I had no idea of this portal but googled around and very legit. Took FOEVAH to arrive with terrible tracking but when it arrived I was not disappointed!

I have about 4 Casio that are either digi or ani/digi and not fan mostly because of legibility. RIGHT AWAY I loved the clean aesthetics of this watch and the value price made it a no brainer.

No, this does not feel like a $1000 Tudor but the lightweight is welcomed in our hot summers. I like the textured dials, the hands and the super legible 12/3/6 and 9. Yea, it only has a hardlex crystal and I wish the numbers were lumed but after I added this leather strap, this watch can take me to the opera, to Home Depot or the strip club 😂!! (BTW, I have never been to strip club in Vegas...I do not trust those savvy dancers to take pity on my $20 and end up convincing me that true love is found with my credit cards 💓🤔😲)

This is my first premium China direct watch from the Beijing Watch factory. This factory has the longest legacy of watchmaking in China but as much as I can tell as large Chinese companies suffered through Covid, there was some merging, etc.

I am considering starting my watch brand but partnering with qualified Chinese watch manufacturers.

Part of my immersion into this Chinese cultural thing, is this upcoming Chinese New Year celebrates the Year of Snake and I am a "Rat" and all forecasting indicates it could be a good year for business.

I did this blog post...

Such a beautiful watch for under $40USD. Standard Miyota quartz movement but I have no idea how they can package a high quality watch for this low price.

This is the newly-restored clock tower and cupola at Polesden Lacey House, the beautiful National Trust property in Surrey. It’s one of the most significant elements of the building; a tower that can be seen from all directions.

The four clock faces were removed, repainted and restored back to the original paint scheme, and the hands and numerals have been returned to their former glory of 24-carat gold leaf.

Reason for all this is that the clock tower has been leaking, so work was required to avoid further leakage and damage. At the same time, specialists have also carried out essential conservation elsewhere in the house to stone, brick, render, timber and leadwork. The house was built in 1821 and remodelled in the early 1900s,

Many people don't realize how small a "tabletop" space is when you look at the final product. This is my mini studio setup and this UV spotlight gives off just enough to highlight the lume on the hands of the funky watch.

New Watch Alert....this is a hilarious beast of a watch with a 50mm case. Love the shark bracelet and I really do love the whole industrial vibe. 43mm is my sweet spot but, when I need to flex, now I have a 50mm.

I knew nothing about watches back in 2015 when I purchased this watch on Amazon. I liked the transparent area on this watch with it inexpensive quartz movement connected to the crown stem. I never wore it much but I did like the creative aspect of it. This watch is deep in the 5th drawer of my collection but I think it is still cool. So, I had some time this afternoon and I thought I would do some shots and see how it looked on camera...I did wipe it down but it looks pretty crusty at macro distance.

Ali Express had a big sale and today I received the bulk of the watches I ordered. I love the look of this retro watch and the brass "bezel" will develop a cool patina very quickly. It came with a super lux black leather strap but when I ordered this I knew I wanted to use a brown strap. This was just a quick shot.

For the technically curious, I am figuring out how to shoot these quickly in my office studio with a flat, smaller video light to the left to illuminate the dial and then a Godox on-board flash. It seems to not over flash but still allow me to do a quick hand held shot.
