Rolex GMT-Master II. Strobist: lit by single SB600 behind diffuser panel at top, triggered by SB800 on D200 with 105VR.

Over a burger lunch on a lazy Christmas day, I get a call from an unidentified number. Turns out it was someone from an AD who wanted to let me know my 114060 had arrived.

Apparently, I had one on order some 7 months back, and because I no longer wanted to wait, I pulled the trigger with a grey dealer about 2 months back.

So given the call, I did what any rational, hot-blooded male would have done. Yes, I made that impulse purchase!!

Experimenting using LED lighting versus strobes...I like wearing this watch because of the 24mm (wide) rubber strap as it is very comfy on my beefy wrist. Great watch for $60USD.

Beginning efforts with tabletop photography and the watches I have acquired. I am building a website of my watch collection for my own personal artistic expression; not to be an influencer or to monetize my YouTube channel. Love the bracelet on this watch! I am using a Meike extension tube in conjunction with the 135mm which still allows for autofocus.

Another older album cover backdrop with the classic Billy Idol and then this charicature I have sorta resembles him as well. Awesome Timex Chronograph watch with gunmetal PVD finish.

Test shots with new Sigma 70-300 lens

These were quick shots just to test the lens works.

Just need to learn how to work the light better, and set up from better angles with the tripod.

Upton Hall, British Horological Institute, Nottinghamshire. Located in the village of Upton near Newark, the Hall was built in 1828 to the design of W Donthorne and it was extended around the turn of the C20th. Since 1972 it has been owned by the BHI and is used both as a training facility for clockmakers and a museum. It is grade 2* listed.

Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean

A direct descendant of the watches issued to fighter pilots back in WWII, IWC´s Big Pilot is the stuff of day-dreams. The dial of the Le Petit Prince edition, with this mesmerising sunburst blue, is a masterclass about the beauty of simplicity. It manages to remain understated and astonishingly elegant without renouncing the design cues of its military aviation heritage, including the onion crown (designed so that fighter pilots were able operate it while wearing gloves) and the oversized case. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful objects I have ever had in my hands and on my wrist.

Why Canada Came to Waltham for Time

The British Empire is famed for its tradition that her craftsmen have excelled in the mechanism of watches and clocks, thus adding many laurels to horological achievement.

Under the direction of a commission appointed by the Government, Canada has adopted watch inspection regulations upon her three transcontinental railroads, as well as all other lines under governmental supervision.

It was a signal honor, then, and a tribute to excelling merit, when Canada gave to Waltham watches supremacy upon these great trans-continental routes and subsidiary railroads.

Indeed, there are three times as many Waltham watches in use upon the railroads of Canada as all other makes of watches combined. The Canadian Government also selected Waltham watches as its standard for polar expedition work and in the Topographical Survey Department. And the Waltham Deck Clock and Chronometer were chosen as standard for naval use - all very good reasons why your choice of a timepiece should be a Waltham. The jeweler who specializes in Waltham watches is worthy of your confidence, no matter what article he recommends, because his business has been built on the enduring foundation of quality. Ask him to explain the many exclusive advantages of the two Waltham watches illustrated on this page.

A. Lange & Sohne Datograph Flyback - the movement

A 1960s Metamec “sputnik” themed mantel clock with its original battery operated electric movement, in good working order. When the company started clock manufacture, it made its own movements but this one has a German movement by the firm Diehl.

Metamec (Metalwork & Mechanics) of Dereham in Norfolk, started in 1941 as an offshoot of the Jentique furniture manufacturer, producing wooden cases for instrument and bombs during WW2. In around 1947 they started making high end clocks, becoming prolific producers of quality timepieces. In the 1980s they suffered from German and Far Eastern competition, being bought out in 1985 by FKI of Halifax. The Dereham site was run by Ross Consumer Electronics until 1995 when the factory closed down. Clocks are still produced today under the Metamec name, in Derbyshire.

Let'z go MAX! Monaco might be his toughest race ever! I really liked the red, white and blue motif of this watch with a great strap....but, it immediately seemed like a faux homage to Red Bull and F1. The butterfly clasp was new for me and it does not provide a perfect fit but it is def. not a daily driver so I am cool with it. 42mm case and still good for snorkeling. I purchased the NH-35A version but I guess it comes with a TY2709 as well. Model 1679 This is what I am wearing tomorrow for the race! I am also cheering for Oscar and Lando! But, obviously if homeboy Charles wins that is awesome as well!

This is another one of my costume jewelry acquisitions from AliExpress. Arrived to Vegas in about 8 days in good shape. High value for $80.

My 2009 Invicta Automatic Pro Diver on a Zulu Bond strap.

Minerva 19/14 stopwatch with 7-jewel movement and 30 second main dial and a 15 minute sub-dial.

It would appear that this is a Minerva calibre 19''' no 14 stop watch mechanism; see Minerva SA (n.d.) l'Histoire Minerva, s.l. [Villeret]: Minerva SA. P. 11 and see this page of Jobin, Albert Ferdinand (1939) La classification Horlogère des calibres de montres et des fournitures d'horlogerie suisse. 2ème édition, Genève : La Classification Horlogère. P. 232.—While the ebauche was supplied by Minerva, the casing and dial may have been a third party, possibly German supplier.

Movement Serial number: #1546705.—Case serial number: #286550 (it may be significant that in both instances the '6' of the case serial number is stamped slightly raised (see here and here).

The back of the watch case is inscribed" "Eigentum der | Notgemeinschaft der | D[eutschen] Wissenschaft | Nr 10018".—Given the text of the inscription, the stop watch dates to the period 1920–1929 (after which the Notgemeinschaft was renamed to Deutsche Gemeinschaft zur Erhaltung und Förderung der Forschung). For background on the Notgemeinschaft der deutschen Wissenschaft see here and here.
