Photos for official video review about Rolex Explorer 124270

Unburdening by Kenneth Rougeau. Digital collage created 11/07/2009. Fiddling with some source elements over the course of the day, I created eight or so images, three or four of which came out pretty well. This one is Charlotte's favorite. I'll share the others over time ;)

Tell someone you're a "Horologist" and see the strange looks you get.

( plus it's kinda fun to say ;~)

I collect timepieces and this is my old mantel clock that we keep above the fireplace. This circa 1850 clock is a bit unusual because it was made for a left-handed person.

Girard-Perregaux F1-047 Aluminum Chronograph

Strobist info: SB900s from top left and right, equal fill. Both behind diffuser panels. Reflection thanks to shallow angle shot and glass.

IWC Ingenieur Chronograph, titanium AMG edition. Lit with one SB600 firing from top, slightly right of center. Triggered by SB800 on-camera; D200 and 105VR.

Not normal behavior! Shooting macro tabletop/watches with the Sony 135mm f/1.8. Using a 10mm extension tube.

Limited, super case, maxi-dial GMT Master 2. Some call it the "super case" GMT.

Some call it "Green Arrow" There isn't a name for it. Rolex simply updated the GMT Series yet kept the same "GMT Master 2" moniker. This should be called the GMT3.

This is the hottest watch to come out of Basel 2007.

Everything is better. Larger case, larger trip lock crown, Daytona style bracelet/clasp, max-dial, and green arrows. The green signifies the Rolex Corporate colors; suggesting this may be a limited run for the 50th Anniversary of the GMT. The 24 HR hands and the model markings are in green. The bezel is made out of ceramic etched in laser compared to the old aluminum. This will not fade.

With this watch, Rolex has dispelled any criticism of the oyster Sports series. Solid clasp, solid end and middle links on the bracelet. This watch has the same crown as the Sea-Dweller and Submariner. The case is bigger in every dimension yet keeping with the 40mm width. Notably, the lugs are larger. Anti-counterfeiting measures have been implemented. In addition to the etch laser coronet, this has the serial numbers etched in the inner wall of the dial case.

I bought this watch from the estate of a man in Georgia. His daughter offered it to me because she knows how much I enjoy Rolex watches. AWESOME!

This is an ultra rare Submariner 6538 with original dial and bezel. It is the definitive "James Bond" Submariner.

FWIW, this Submariner became part of a trade that netted me the Rolex Daytona Cosmograph you see in this set of photos.

I received this new bracelet that I wanted to update this cool watch with and it worked out great I thought!

I am not a holiday guy mostly because as a lifelong solo dude with no kids, IMHO holidays are really just for kids. BUT, what I do like about December/January holidays is the power boost in colors especially RED! This Berny is just so photogenic...I have a bunch of holidays props and I have a commercial watch photoshoot this week so I had to clean up my studio and do some test fires. For all the photogs in the house, there is nothing better than full bokeh with a fully decked out Xmas tree as a background and with something interesting the foreground....It is easy to get distracted with all the commercialism but like a camera, I just try and focus on the good stuff and not the noise!
