Now the home of Hop Kiln Winery, this old building once housed a hop roasting factory. Russian immigrants to this part of California used the hops in their beer making processes. As beer making became integrated, this kiln was no longer needed. Healdsburg, CA. Fujifilm X-A1 and XC16-50.

Another shot from a frequent haunt of mine. It's also a frequent haunt for this GBH. We're like two strangers sharing the same fishing hole, only I'm fishing for images.
Hops has been my closest friend, partner in crime and an inspiration to me for a long time now. We've bombed, traveled, boosted and painted some of our best work together. Hops is one of the hardest working and most dedicated writers I've ever met.
The Hop Exchange is a Grade II listed building at No. 24 Southwark Street, London, in the Bankside area of the London Borough of Southwark. Opened in 1867 and designed by R.H. Moore it served as the centre for hop trading for the brewing industry.
A glass roof allowed business on the trading floor of the Great Hall to be conducted under natural light, but wartime bombing, fires, redevelopment and modernisation have left the Hop Exchange the only one still standing. However, a fire in 1920 led to the top two storeys being removed, and the Hop Exchange was then converted into offices.

While Mom's away the kids will play! A juvenile wood stork hops, jumps and skips above the nest... practicing with its new wings.
So you know, we have "Big Birds" in Florida, with wide wingspans.
Not too many Eagles, but plenty of Great Blue Herons, Great Egrets, Limpkins and Wood Storks. All big birds! This year, the Wood Storks are dominating! This wetland area here in Palm Beach County has dozens of Spring Wood-Stork nests! Has been fun to observe.
I stopped by today to see how all the new arrivals are doing and was greeted by dozens of juveniles standing, testing out their new wings with "hops" and sometimes venturing out for short "test-flights". But where were all the adults, this hot afternoon? Having coffee? No, they were all soaring high overhead, almost willing the young juveniles to take flight, showing them - Look, this is how it's done! Get away from the TV! (OK, the nest) And put those cell phones down! LOL

The wood stork is a large American wading bird in the stork family. It appears all white on the ground, with blackish-gray legs and pink feet. In flight, the trailing edge of the wings is black. The head is dark brown with a bald, black face, and the thick down-curved bill is dusky yellow. Juvenile birds are a duller version of the adult, generally browner on the neck, and with a paler bill. The bare head and the long bill, which can measure up to ten inches in length, render the wood stork distinctive from other large waders in its range.
