Day 8

Hellevoetsluis.

At last, a windmill! We drove through a big part of Holland , eh without spotting one windmill? What are the chances eh? LOL

We are nearly there!

In 1697, there was a wooden mill on the site where now is the dry dock .

Dirk Jacobsz Goutswaart is mentioned as the first miller .

This mill, at the end of the 18th century, had to make way for the dry dock.

This, the stone mill "De Hoop" built in 1801 .

After this , until the restoration of 1992-1993 are an architect , a goldsmith and various artists used the mill.

Now the miller and partner occupy the ground floor and first floor.

It is still open to the public on week-ends.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. A surprising discovery into why I sometimes fail to focus on my close-up subjects is that I was actually getting too close! Inside of the minimum focusing distance of my lens - that's definitely too close. Enjoy!

The Flickr Lounge-Plastic

The plastic on the Hoop House is mostly removed in the summer. It's left on the Hoop House through out the winter. I gave this one a little HDR treatment to bring out the texture of the plastic.

In a structure like this the walls and ceiling are all one unit.

This is my hoop for the Scrappy Hoop Swap. My partner's inspiration mosaic had lots of hexies, mushrooms, Heather Ross , and fun fabrics. I tried to include all of that here. I hope she likes it as much as I do!

Without any clutter in the foreground, here is the graffiti that I made in all its glory.

I actually consulted with a friend who has some level of graffiti expertise when working on this, and his tips helped me develop this font and the overall look and feel of the graffiti. Although he didn't think I could pull off a convincing graffiti using this kind of techniques in Lego, he ended up having to eat his words and give me his thumbs up when I showed him the result.
