Misericordia University first-year student Wayne “Owen” Van Newkirk of Honeoye, N.J., is flanked by his sister, Hannah, and dad, Wayne, during First-Year Student Move-In Day on Aug. 23 at the campus in Dallas Township, Pa. Pam Melroy, Commander of STS 120, paid a visit to students in Honeoye Central Schools. Melroy is from the Rochester area and was accompanied by her parents who live in Honeoye, NY. Mady tagged along as I helped to facilitate a videoconference connecting schools from around the eastern region of Rochester.

Hello,

Even though it has been a couple years since we adopted Stewie, who is now 3 (never changed his name because it was SO perfect!), we wanted to give you an update and share some photos with you! I grew up in Honeoye Falls and my family has adopted pets from Lollypop Farm since my childhood, so naturally when my husband and I decided to adopt a cat, we made the trip from Brooklyn to Lollypop! Stewie is now an indoor cat, with some occasional outside adventures in Honeoye Falls and Long Island and we don't even remember what our lives were like before him! We love him so much! He is such a good little buddy! He is one of the friendliest cats that people have ever encountered. He loves everyone! Kids, dogs, cats, he's even made cat haters LOVE him! He meets us at the door just like a dog and cuddles up at night. He is an amazing addition to our family and even as I write this, he is curled up next to me on the couch :) I can't imagine how he ended up at Lollypop Farm at 1 year old, but I'm happy he made his way into our lives!

It is Korean tradition for the mothers of the bride and groom to light a red candle and a blue candle at the beginning of the wedding ceremony. We substituted these pretty red and blue lanterns with candles inside.

This school was District #1, located on East Lake Road south of Wesley Road. It was built around 1875. Records show that 32 students between the age of 5 and 15 years old were enrolled at this school in 1886. It is thought that 1928 may have been the last year it was used as a school. In 1997 the Town of Richmond moved the school to Main Street, next to the library, after it was donated by Thomas Schenkel. The Honeoye Historical Society and volunteers restored the school house to what it would have looked like in 1875.

I've still not figured out the "town-village-township" thing in NY. The Mendon Town Hall sits around the corner from the Honeoye Falls Village Hall in Honeoye Falls. Mendon is located on the map about 5 miles away.

From 2002

HFL Cougar Print and Animal Print Cupcakes. These were a large order of cupcakes for an Honeoye Falls-Lima Grad. Half of the order is our perfect chocolate cupcakes paired with our whipped coconut buttercream and topped with a hand painted fondant circle in animal print, highlighted with the year 2011. The second half of the order is our butter yellow cupcakes topped with our silky chocolate buttercream and topped with a fondant circle with hand cut HFL cougar prints.
