Carolyn put shingles on the room, painted house numbers in a nice font that she turned into a stencil, and she attached a flag.

This is what the office looked like before I started a major decluttering, which culminated in rearranging the room last week. Will be posting afters soon! The *only* reason I am willing to admit to this disaster is that it looks sooooo much better now!

Home Improvement Tip: Spruce up your ceilings.

One of a room's most neglected spaces, the ceiling, makes up one-sixth of a room's total area. Updating your home's ceilings will net a lot of bang for the buck while adding architectural interest. First, if you still have popcorn ceilings, hire a contractor to scrape them smooth. To add a sophisticated custom look to a smooth ceiling, install crown molding or box beams for a coffered look. Ceiling millwork, an attractive feature prevalent in older homes, is rarely found in newer construction. Adding small touches like these will help your home stand out from the pack.

Using pliers, I cut off the non-needed portions of the 'under-shelf rack'. This gives me some sturdy metal mesh to work with.

The yellow goes great with the kitchen as well, and it kinda ties the yellow, orange, and blue together.

Yuck! Ugly 7 year old very worn out carpet. 1st stage of my upstairs carpet removal. Don't want carpet anymore because it is more trouble than it is worth. Just wait until the finished product.

Although it's just going to get covered up again, I decided to repair the threshold floor as much as I could. This is basically for practice, but I'm also hoping I can get the threshold board to sit a little flatter - that will buy some clearance for the door.

Nicely mopped floor. The walls still need attention.

We had the walls and bathtub refinished. Hence the nice glowing white. The tub used to be pink with gray spray paint. Atrocious. Nothing has been reinstalled yet.

I really like the way the mortar looks after it's been through a good trowelling.
