We painted the floor last week and then I thought we needed to change the white siding on the wall. Turns out our siding is steel siding so it took a bit of cutting with a cutting wheel to get it off.
Grout. The unromantic yet necessary part of the job. I still had some "sage" unsanded grout left over from a previous project. This is how I spent my day -- and cleanup took almost as long as the grouting process itself. This four feet by three feet area took all frickin' day to do.
The hall bathroom in our 1983 house needed a little facelift, and while it's still not ideal, it's miles better than it started out!

Probably my favorite element of the new kitchen - the deep sink and the jointed neck faucet. Can't wait to do some canning with this deep sink...
Sink: Kraus
Faucet: Kohler Karbon
There ya go, done. The wooden sill will be painted green or something sometime, it's just the tiling that I was focusing on. Ain't it purdy?
This biznitch is in the can.

Continuing on with my distraction from my distraction. I was going to measure the walls and trim these down today in preparation for painting but, uh, well, there was Internet at my house.
It's weird how this song is considered by some to be one of the worst songs of the 80's, when it was co-written by Bernie Taupin (Elton John's writer) and Peter Wolf (vocalist/lyricist of The J.Geils Band), and performed by Mickey Thomas (vocalist for Elvin Bishop) and Grace Slick (vocalist of Jefferson Airplane). How could it go wrong?

So the "dual European" showerhead I bought a few years ago (as seen here after the bathroom renovation) has developed a couple cracks recently that are spraying water outside the shower enclosure, and this cannot be. I'm serious, this was tripping the GFI because it would spray all the way to the vanity with the curtain closed.
So today I have installed this, and will be trying it out in a few minutes because... well, I went to work dirty for the first time to avoid having to mop up the room, and my hair is mega-greasy right now because of that fact. This one has 3 settings: comfie shower, cosey shower, and cleansing shower.
I'm going to miss the degree of swivel the old one had. My flange points down not straight out!
There are a few studs left to be installed but the major framing is complete. I also wired an outlet that will sit on top of the mantel. The switch is a low voltage switch for the fireplace.
The framing on the top of the fireplace is unusual as there is a gap to facilitate the fireplace exhaust. Per the directions there can't be any material within an inch of it for safety. In order to maximize the ledge for the mantel I skipped over the exhaust with the framing.
The remodel is finally complete in the boys bathroom. We went from yellow ducks to pirate. The border actually came in this week so I can't wait to get that up as well. It looks so different from what it was.
