Daytime photo, Home Depot "urban format" on Halsted in Lincoln Park. Yes, it's two full stories (a first for the chain) and 85,000 sq ft., with some liner retail; garden is in the front, quick hardware purchases (screwdrivers, light bulbs) on one, and more involved items (paint, faucets) on two. Two levels of parking sit on the roof, behind the signage.
The neighbors initially opposed a proposal to build residences here, so the developer's Plan B was this. It's terribly out of scale (almost 60' tall and 80,000 sf in a three-story neighborhood), but is successful enough to warrant more.

Lenox China formerly the pride of Trenton, New Jersey. I read they no longer manufacture in the USA so although nicely designed there is really no reason to support the company that deserted the country that made it what it was
“Lenox Corporation is an American manufacturing company that sells tableware, giftware, and collectible products under the Lenox, Dansk, Reed & Barton, Gorham, and Oneida brands. For most of the 20th century, it was the most prestigious American maker of tableware, and the company produced other decorative pieces as well. Several Lenox china services were commissioned for the White House. By 2020, it was the last significant manufacturer of bone china in the United States, until the COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of the company's only remaining American factory.”
One of the MANY beautiful and historic homes in Riverside that are backed by wooded areas, giving the feeling that they are secluded in a forest vs. being on a suburban street, a couple minutes walk from the heart of the village.

There have been a lot of small updates to our network since the last photo I posted.
The most recent addition is of the PIX firewall. The Cisco ASA I was using previously was just too crippled when it came to licensing. I bought the PIX used, and it has an unrestricted license, so it will take anything we can throw at it.
From the top moving down:
• The patch panel leading out in the cluster of wires at the top of the photo to Ethernet ports throughout the house.
• NetGear 24 port Gigabit Smart Switch (allowing trunking, VLANs, etc).
• The "new" Cisco PIX 515e firewall.
• NetGear 8 port gigabit switch, on a separate subnet as a testbed.
• Linux file server with about 9TB of online storage.
• Linux development box.
The challenge in taking this was the weather -- remember the witch melting in the Wizard of Oz, yeah, that's what I thought was going to happen to me. :-)

My new home studio, complete with 42" flat screen, surround sound and lot's of books. The concrete floor is acid stained and looks like red marble, very cool.
