Hogsback Christmas in July

Hogsback, South Africa, 1991

We are headed to the saddle between Middle Sister on the left and Prouty Point in the middle.

One day my wife Elsa was walking in the garden when she noticed this praying mantis well camouflaged amongst the leaves. Fortunately I had my camera fitted with a 60mm macro lens handy. Using a tripod was impossible as the insect was moving. Only when I put the photo on the computer screen did I see the passenger.

In Afrikaans word dit 'n bidsprinkaan genoem.

The Chapel of Hogsback

These signs have appeared recently. People are having gatherings in public open spaces and just walking away leaving their litter.
