Eleni het 'n pragtige stel trappies gemaak nadat ek die meeste bos van bo na onder oopgesny het... so omtrent 20-25 m.
Thank god we had this Lapa (with Christmas tree, bar and open fire) as our tents flooded and the entire 2 days were a wash out!

The Hogsback, Letchworth State Park. The ridge jutting into the canyon is called “The Hogsback” for its resemblance to a wild boar’s high-hunched spine. The Genesee River flows one mile around this narrow peninsula. The river turns in many directions within the park, including nearly due south in its overall northward flow, but this is its most abrupt loop. In geological terms, the horseshoe curve in this canyon is an “entrenched meander.” It was begun by the slowly winding river flowing between former glacial lakes. This new route detoured around a buried interglacial valley. As the glacial lakes drained away, the river remained in this meander. The river continues to entrench its canyon as the land still rises from the release of the glacier’s weight some 10,000 years ago. Letchworth State Park, Mount Morris, N.Y. 14 September 2021

One day my wife Elsa was walking in the garden when she noticed this praying mantis well camouflaged amongst the leaves. Fortunately I had my camera fitted with a 60mm macro lens handy. Using a tripod was impossible as the insect was moving. Only when I put the photo on the computer screen did I see the passenger.
