December 2013 holiday in the Hogsback. Drove down through the Free State via Smithfield; then via Burgersdorp; Takastad, Molteno, to the Hogsback.
Summer advances, the wild flowers in the meadows are going to seed but the hops are flourishing in a hedge on the Loseley Estate. A walk with Margaret and Suki past the barley field which has now been harvested, ploughed and replanted. We went to the lake at Loseley and back via a path which leads back up to the A31 and back via the Hog's Back. Suki had an operation on her eye last week and has to wear a cone, so she kept bashing it into things but seemed to be very happy to be out and about.
The guided groups were going around the west crater and avoiding the Hogsback. We climbed the Hogsback then traversed to our current position.

After a morning of food preparation, I took a late afternoon walk up The Mount to the Hog’s Back. There was a chilly wind on the Cathedral view side but the other (south) side was sheltered and offered a wonderful cloudscape with 180° views.
