This was another shot from Christmas Eve in Southampton. The howling winds I hear out my window tonight reminded me of the blustery day in Southampton. The wind was so strong I had trouble keeping my tripod steady. There wasn't much of a sunset but the sky was interesting and the waves dramatic.
Okay... here is a cropped single-shot image... taken at Blaauwberg beach moments before sunset... last Wednesday afternoon.
The clouds were looking promising and I was hoping for something fantastic. I struggled to find a compelling composition here though... there was an ugly brown haze over the city... the sun was behind a massive cloud... and the light was less than ideal. My only hope was a tiny gap between the clouds and horizon... the sun would have to pass through there at some point... and I was determined to shoot something nice when it did.
This was my favourite of the ten shots that I managed to squeeze off in those few moments of beautiful sunlight... it's not as fantastic as I was hoping for... but I suppose it did make the one hour drive (to get to the beach and back) somewhat worthwhile. :)

If you aren't an expert in architecture and different styles of half-timbered houses you won't spot a difference between these two streets.
They are both equally beautiful.
When you pass the corner of the Wernersches Haus this is what you see. (The details on the right or from that house.)

'Hinter der Balge' is one of the narrowest streets in Bremen and can be found in the Schnoor district.
So far no one is building houses on my sunset spot and hopefully it stays that way.
Have a great weekend all and thank you for stopping by!
