Box Hill Fort is one of a line of 13 mobilisation centres built in the 1890s to protect London from the threat of invasion from continental Europe. They have never been used and have mostly fallen into disrepair. Now it is a scheduled Ancient Monument and undergoing restoration. It's closed to the public and several species of bat call it their home.
I found what appears t be part of a rusty old gate hinge tapped into a tree at the site of a long-gone farm deep in a secluded woods where most people haven't set foot in at least 45 years.

The facility was built with funds from Taste of the Nation and will provide free child care and nutrition to impoverished pre-schoolers and toddlers. Its culinary training program will also give free job training to disadvantaged adults so they can seek work in the food and beverage industry.

This project is an attempt to improve my photography by limiting what I shoot, and forcing me to get it right with the camera, and not having to resort to Photoshop.
This gate looks far older than it is, mainly due to the rusty hinge. I think the hinge gives a good contrast with the fairly well preserved timber.
