Candelario es un municipio de la provincia de Salamanca, en la comunidad autónoma de Castilla y León. Se integra dentro de la comarca de la Sierra de Béjar, tiene una población de 832 habitantes y desde 1975, está declarado como bien de interés cultural, en la categoría de conjunto histórico, (anteriormente conjunto histórico-artístico).

Además desde 2015, está catalogado como uno de "Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España" perteneciendo a la asociación del mismo nombre.

Este pequeño pueblo de montaña de construcciones muy características, con muros anchos de piedra, grandes balcones de madera y las célebres batipuertas, es de una singular belleza. Candelario, que también da nombre al espacio natural protegido donde se ubíca, está rodeado de espectaculares bosques de robles y castaños, con elevaciones superiores a los 2000 m de altura. Este lugar fue declarado por la Unesco en 2006, como Reserva de la Biosfera y parte de la reserva de la biosfera de las Sierras de Béjar y de Francia.

Candelario is a municipality in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is part of the Sierra de Béjar region, has a population of 832, and since 1975 has been declared a Site of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Site (formerly Historic-Artistic Site).

Furthermore, since 2015, it has been listed as one of "The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain," belonging to the association of the same name.

This small mountain village, with its distinctive architecture—thick stone walls, large wooden balconies, and the famous hinged doors, is uniquely beautiful. Candelario, which also lends its name to the protected natural area where it is located, is surrounded by spectacular oak and chestnut forests, with elevations exceeding 2,000 meters. This place was declared by UNESCO in 2006 as a Biosphere Reserve and part of the biosphere reserve of the Sierras de Béjar and Francia.

This one I found in one of our alleys. Not the usual place I hang out but with friends in the daytime, you can find some interesting things and feel safe.

Decades of repair work have kept this old outhouse functional at a corral on the Crow Creek Road in Bear Lake County. I like the variety of nails and screws that have held it together over the years. You can see a photo of the outhouse in my November 16 post.

Sorry I haven't been commenting much the last couple of weeks as my husband has been in hospital again. New medication & change of diet have us almost back on an even keel as they say. I'm thankful the stress has eased for both of us!

This hinge is slowly rusting away in a bunker ar the Hirtshals Bunker Museum in Denmark.
